Re: Passive BMS packs balance variance at lowest voltage
Yes ...thank you. And I did understand all of this before posting. I was just looking for some confirmation about the imbalance at the full discharge point even though passively top balanced with a BMS in the first place. And I believe I now have confirmation that this is going to happen although I ...

Re: Passive BMS packs balance variance at lowest voltage
I understand that about the shoulders of V vs. SoC. And for my personal packs I go for longevity regarding these points. This discussion is as a result of one I have with someone I built a pack for. He wants to get every ounce of capacity out of that pack and has gone against the recommendation I ha...

Re: Passive BMS packs balance variance at lowest voltage
So with the bottom balancing, the accepted practice then is to not have a passive BMS that then balances at the top end I am assuming? However, once this process is done I am curious for actual stats that folks are experiencing regarding balances at the end of a discharge cycle. Is each series of ce...

Passive BMS packs balance variance at lowest voltage
I have a question for those of you who can actually see the balance variance with packs which have passive BMS units such as the Bluetooth Chinese stuff. What is the lowest voltage in a real world experience do you find your pack(s) actually getting discharged to and what do you find the balance of ...

If you don't want to pull the pack apart and put new shrink wrap on the cells....then you could possibly use Kapton tape on the damaged wrap.

Re: New or Rebuilt Lithium-Ion Battery Service
If he is shipping USPS priority ...I would bet the batteries are not labeled properly. USPS has now become very particular on the shipping of Lithium batteries, even if packaged properly and labeled properly. My local USPS will now refuse any Lithium battery shipment over 5 lbs. I do all my shipping...

Re: Boston-Power Swing 5300 Li-ion cell test
The medical packs that I am familiar with are all Boston Power Sonata cells ...which have a lower discharge rate. If you read the marketing statement at the top of the Boston Power Swing 5300, you will see what they state the Swing is applicable to.

Actually as I understand it ...BP Swing Cells were actually marketed to the auto industry. And those that I am familiar with using them for Ebikes have been happy and impressed with them.

Re: Boston-Power Swing 5300 Li-ion cell test
I do not have any specific temp data ...all I have are folks who have used these for Ebikes and Scooters ...and no complaints about heating up or sag as long as the packs are built properly for the amount of current needed.

Re: XLD Brainpower motor controller XunLiDa
Now looking at another throttle replacement brings a question ....does that lock/ignition wire get rid of the need for a battery cutoff switch if you have a throttle with an on/off switch? Meaning, instead of wiring the lock/ignition wire to positive, you wire it to the throttle's on/off wire and no...

Re: XLD Brainpower motor controller XunLiDa
I found my problem ....it is the Chinese speed controller after all. One of leads on the diodes in the controller actually had a hairline crack on it ...I had to use a magnifying glass to see it. I put a 250k pot in place of the controller ...and while not optimum I could at least control the speed ...

Re: Adding a Key to battery pack ?
I just purchased one of these and tested it under load today:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MT ... UTF8&psc=1
All went well under load....so obviously the Flisky was not up to the task and did not meet its specifications.

Re: Adding a Key to battery pack ?
No sign of contacts burning ...and since the electronics are enclosed with black heat shrink I cannot see if there is visible evidence of a failed component. Obviously the switch is now closed, permanently passing voltage from the battery. And of course I am trying to get a response from the seller ...

Re: Adding a Key to battery pack ?
I mentioned it wrong ...it is a Flipsky switch ...similar to the Luna switch. Here is a link to one: https://www.amazon.com/Cigooxm-Flipsky-Electric-Skateboard-Scooter/dp/B07V5Y6NZ2 I wired it up yesterday and tested it just for battery on/off for a 7S battery and it worked fine. Tommycat ....are you actually using the Lunacycle remote switch? And all is well with it? I just tried one of the Flippy switches like this and it failed under load immediately after switching a 7S pack on.

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder
I plan to give a more lengthy response at a later date on this ...primarily because I am still experimenting with my battery power for the Kweld. But I can state this ....the battery connections to the Kweld, including the internal ones on the battery itself are absolutely critical. That and the cab...
