Re: QSMotor 4000W V3 17” Hub Motor Aprilia RS50 Conversion

tighten those axle nuts until they snap off and then back off a quarter turn. dont use and spring washers or whatever, jsut simple flat washers. also put a witness blob on the axel and nut that cracks if the nut/axle moves. if you miss a moving axel you will mess up your axle and swing arm...

"slighty" is a understatment, its litteraly double the cell weight and then you need to add the massive metal anti-bulge structure.

Re: SAMSUNG INR18650-29E cycle test.

What is the conclusion for 29E? I think for high discharge rate, and a decent capacity the 25R is a good choice, and good alternatives perhaps the VTC6? But what about higher capacity which always means lower discharge rate, the 29E would be top 3 if not #2 because its 8.25A not 10A like PF? https:...

Re: Cells for high drain battery

That math does not make sense. A 1.2kWh pack made with 18650 can be made with less then 100 cells.
And quarter inch alu is also heavy as is the rods and bolts and it limits the shape of the battery.

And a tesla has 15000 welds and their packs basically never breaks.

Re: Cells for high drain battery

prismatic is troublesome to use as you need massive steel supports to compress them. that often negates any advantage they might have.
i'll switch to prismatic/pouches once they start making professional power tools with them.

my guess you have fake connectors and the barrels have melted due to overloading them.

cut them and fit original ones. if the space is there fit 1 size bigger.

the motor controller is really nice. its like the apple of ebikes. pay out the nose but once you do you are locked into their eco system. if you want freedom get a bafang motor. its not locked down and you dont even have to crack the motor case to replace the controller. quality wise its even better...

Re: Custom Bosch / Yamaha battery

If you bypass the discharge on your Yamaha battery pcb (cut the thick red/black wires going to the board from the discharge port, and solder them to the main leads of the pack, which are oval shaped solder pads on each end, the one closest to the port is positive) if you do this you won't be restri...

Re: 72v 30AH pack to drive QSMotor 4KW 17” hub motor

you are not going to manage it for 1000 for the battery alone, that will cost more. you can limit the battery amps to 55A and just make sure you got plenty of amps to trow at the motor to get as much power early. otherwise you are trowing away a LOT of performance. if you are going for that hard 4kW...

Re: How do I test a BMS to make sure its working?

no, this is a regular bms. it can balance the cells and do all those good stuff you expect from a regular bms.

your explanation of houw a bms works does not jive with the diagram of how the guy in the video does it.

ignore what you think and just follow the diagram to the letter.

a 1P pack will take ages to fill because you need dozens of amps to fill it in a reasonable time.

Re: How many Amps can this 3500W rated QS hub motor actually take? (build planning)

if you open the motor: replace the bearings and seals. its a quick job if you have the motor open and it makes it more reliable. get 2RSL bearings, those have low resistance seals. i have a simmilair motor on the self as well, if you can share some pics of the inside and bearing sizes that would be ...

Re: Cells for high drain battery

those numbers should make it pretty "sprighty" off the line.

a 205 can take short bursts of 8kW fine, some even go way beyond that but then you run a real risk of burning out the phases.

still, 150A continous on the battery would mean it would do 150kph so i dont think that is not the case.

Re: Cells for high drain battery

you can ignore cycles if you stop charging at 4.1V and bottom limit to 3V you will see many more cycles then the datasheet. check here for tests done with the 29E: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=93989&start=25#p1459171. the 25E is even more robust so you would see even better...

Re: How to recell Bosch Powerpack batteries?

BMS''s from these packs, especially the newer ones seem to die a lot. as fas as i see the newer BMS from the flat models tend to self destruct if you disconnect the wires to the cell pack. you need to hook up a fake pack in parralel while doing the swap so the bms doesnt commit suicide. prehaps it d...

some of them are a bit finniky to get changed if you dont know how.

personall i would opt for a HLG from meanwell, they have 2 pots, one for current and one for volts. hard to mess up and very high quality for the same price as a POS luna style charger.

Re: building my first battery

just grab a cheap aliexpress charger if you are on a budget and turn the pot inside down to the desired voltage.
if you have a bit more money i would recommmend getting a mean well, a HLG-320H-54A would fit the bill.
