Re: Maximum charging amps for these ( RC Lipo ) cells

you are complaining about something that simply does not happen in normal life. 18650 do not have the abillity to puff up due to abuse. its a feature only pouches have. at worst what gsnerally happens in bad cells is that the PTC will trigger and some fluids will push out. you see this a lot with cr...

Re: Maximum charging amps for these ( RC Lipo ) cells

I always thought increasing compression ( beyond the pack's compressive wrap ) was a very bad idea because it removes a safety / warning mechanism. I've never seen any good information showing that it improves safety. I imagine it does the opposite. no, sadly it does not work like that. pouches usu...

Be careful not to set it and forget it, the charger might keep charging your battery well beyond 4.20V before you check in on it and realize whats happened.
stop saying that. if you set the voltage it will never get higher. period. end of story.

Re: Maximum charging amps for these ( RC Lipo ) cells

show me on this doll where the 18650 touched you. thinking puffing is good is a simple fallacy. that is exactly the thing you dont want. that is why in cars and other industrial setups pouches all have compression bracing to keep that from happening, even lifepo blocks. you dont want gases to...

Re: Maximum charging amps for these ( RC Lipo ) cells

In the hands of an unskilled user, yes, RC Lipo is dangerous. With a skilled user who follows best practices, they're not far behind 18650 packs in terms of safety. a dare you to tape a dozen pouches against your body and chew some asphalt at 35mph while i do that with 18650 cells. see who comes ou...

Re: Series chargers for higher voltage

Hey Flippy, in order to check the isolation of a unbranded power supply, I should apply my probes to the case and poles of the power supply (pos or neg)? How to Test Three - Phase AC Motors.jpg the case does not tell you anything. with the amount of compoents in a power supply i would not trust a me...

Re: Maximum charging amps for these ( RC Lipo ) cells

considering they are making millions of 18650 cells a day and i have never seen a quality brand cell murder itself in a violent way that might pose a danger to other cells i am willing to say that 18650 is inherently safer then a metalized plastic bag filled with fire. cheap chinese crap is a differ...

Re: Amount of cells? many or few

Is there any reddicilous slow speed that might be harmful? for example you charge a 500ah battery with just 1A current (so it would take 500 hours to fully charge it. just as an example, why i am curious is that i have read somewhere (don't remember where) that u shouldn't charge your battery too l...

Re: Maximum charging amps for these cells

I charged my 20C turnigy packs at 1C for a number of years and achieved around 500 cycles when hobbyking only promised 300. A number of forum members have seen the same. No conspiracy here. with the spotty/less then stellar quality control of their batteries over the years i would be extremely cons...

Re: Maximum charging amps for these cells

Hobbyking states either 1C or 5C as an ideal charging rate for their lipos, depending on the model. 1C on a 30AH pack would translate to 30 amps. 5C would translate to 30A x 5C = 250 amps. that is the ideal current.... for hobbyking..... to keep selling you new batteries. you need to charge as slow...

Re: Amount of cells? many or few

no, the power from the solar will not enter the battery so it will not get hot. Okay, is there any intelligent way that the system "knows" to not put the electricity into the batteries in this condition, or does it just follow the principle of using the way of least resistance (batteries ...

So ordered a Maxwell 24 volt 300 HPR for $50 with free shipping you said just the box is a little rough. Now the meanwell is CC- CV ? And how does that work when I hook 3 in series for 84 volts ? Only one pack has a BMS 20s 6p Samsung 40t then a 8 year old A123 20ah 24s and 20s spaim08 8ah 200 watt...

Re: sound of small knocks when I accelerate

unless you can perfectly center the rim and turn it without the stator you cant see the bend. it does not have to be misshaped. it can simply be offset. the room between the stator and magnets is generally just 1mm or less. you need to put the rim and the stator separately on a lathe and turn them t...

Thank you. Re: Series chargers for higher voltage

These are power supplies, not chargers. we had this argument already and you are still not correct. stop confusing everyone. In short - a Power Supply is intended to provide a constant voltage to static applications, whereas a Charger is designed to provide a continuously regulated current to mobil...

that pack is dead. the bms is doing its job by protecting the house from burning down when are trying to recharge it. without a lab power supplly you wont be able to recover it if you even can recover it as the cells will be seriously damaged by now. without a very slow controlled current (think 50m...

if your controller has a LVC set to ~60V you only need a bms during charging. so you can bypass the bms during discharge and only connect the bms to charge it to protect and balance the packs.
