Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development
I think the torque sensor might be better. I used the throttle for him because the bafang pas sucks. On the other hand my boy was riding a OSET 12.5 with a throttle before he turned 3. At that age he still could't figure out the whole pedaling thing. Maybe a throttle is better? Now these are out htt...

Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development
Paul, I think there's a market for a smaller lower powered version of your system for kids bikes. I built a bike for my boy and made this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3BRabYe9yo. That bike was just a walmart bike but regular bike companies make some nice kids bike now. My boy was riding a ...

BBSHD Transition Preston
I built this bike a few years ago first with a BBS02 https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=73635 then with a BBSHD https://www.electricbike.com/bafang-bbshd-1000w-mini-review/ I then put 575 miles on it all single track off road. I did those miles with a back pack battery (10 AH...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
I thought you guys might be interested in my RC Mid Drive conversion. I ride frequently in the hills, and I wanted to try just a bit of climbing assist without changing the character of the bike. I ran a Cyclone on and off about 7 years ago, but the benefit to downside ratio was not there, so i she...

Re: Andrew's LMX 161 Chain-drive massacre Build Log
I use this method to get the ideal chain adjustment on my ice dirt bikes. I disconnect the rear sock while the bike is on a stand, then you can freely move the swing arm thru its travel. Chain drives want zero preload and just a little free play to work best. The chain will be tightest when the cente...

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"
If there is a torque sensor, there must be some type of load cell between the axle that the pedals are connected too and the large gear that the motor drives and has the chain ring connected to it. Pull the axle and see if there is more than just a freewheel under there.

Re: OpenEMoto
I love it!!!! I think the swing arm mounted motor makes a lot of sense. Of course a small increase in unsprung weight but you can't beat the simplicity. The use of all straight tubing is fantastic and the use of 3D printed parts to jig it up is genius. Also, in the picture, where the frame is jigged...

Re: Ultimate BBSHD Grin Phase Runner FOC 3000W
I'm curious how the stock BBSHD gets around this issue? Is it always slightly engaged or is the throttle programmed to engage at low torque prior to ramping up? Matt I hope we are talking about the same issue. My understanding is that because the Phaserunner is a current controller as opposed a vol...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit
john it's not about: will it break or not, it's about doing it right or not. screws are just not made for what they are used here. they are there to clamp parts together primarily and not for shearing forces (though they can take some of course) A bolt is used to clamp and should not see much shear...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
I don't think that freewheel is the problem. The reason it works now is because when you eliminated the freewheel you no longer have the gear reduction so your torque at the cassette is greatly reduced. It's probably skipping on the cassette.

Wow! Love it! I'm an old dirt bike guy that moved to e bikes. Then I slowly fell in love with pedal only mountain biking. Now I really want a pas only low power e bike like all the OEMs have. This looks perfect!

I love your approach of creating different types of systems that have different strengths. My needs (single track only) are much different from someone who uses their bike to commute. With your expanding product range, your going to have something for everyone!

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit
How about that single stage set up run single speed but on the left side. The sprockets would be concentric to the BB but could ride on bearings built into the motor mount. Maybe one of matts adapters for the sprocket on the rear wheel.

I had a similar experience with Kelly. If I called them during their working hours which for me me was conveniently early evening, Fanny would get back to me in minutes. It was more like online chat than Email.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Anyone know where we can find those new mounting brackets ? https://youtu.be/uUz_Ie_jsI0 I love that bracket, it makes a lot of sense to me. I never liked the way the little aluminum blocks interfaced with the motor on the original bracket. Where they were located they could never be sandwiched tig...
