Very tidy again Allex. Such clean builds. Are you running 24" wheels again on this beta?

Re: Did my leaf die

drawing 70amps through a em3ev 9fet4110 I am no expert on these controllers, but 70 amps really is a lot of power for a 9 fet so my guess goes to blown controller. Yes I know its way beyond the rating and am impressed it lasted so long. I was running a mac10t in the past and slowly increased the cu...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Does it sound like a bad bearing? If not, disconnect the phase wires from the controller and check again for resistance. If the rolling resistance disappears, you have cooked FETs in your controller and they are shorted. Disconnected the phase wires and the added resistance gone. Blown controller. ...

Did my leaf die

Thread bump. Been loving my 5t leaf 1500w the past 16 months but I think I might have just wounded it and would like an opinion or 2 as to what went wrong before I start pulling things apart. As a little background the Leaf is set up on a 2011 Giant Reign (DS) and is used purely for offroad. The bik...

Re: Electrikhana 2015 - March 7th RAC Driving Centre

Looking forward to my first attendance at this event. Would be good advertising for the Stealth dealer in balcatta around the corner from me to make an appearance though they most probably are aware of the event. Does anyone know if Zero motorcycles will be conducting test rides and if so what bikes...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Looks awesome Alex!! Post some videos once it's completed I've been riding my leaf powered ebike into work lately a few times. Never done really any 'efficient' rides. 27km trip one way, using ~5200mah average speed 29.5kmhr. Helping pedal of course. Gearing is a little short to pedal more than 35-3...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Mike, nice build you have there, really neat and clean! Thanks Cowardlyduck: Do your abc replacement bearings show any sign of side to side play yet? No issues yet, but I haven't put a huge amount of km's on the leaf yet...right now it's off the bike. I've used the same bearings on plenty of other ...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Nice one by leaf to offer a Mavic 319 rim Allex. I've never had a reading from the thermistor with my cav3 even when changing thermistor type and changing calibration. Just 0v. Its connected correctly, but there must be something going on in the motor. My bearings have a slight amount of play in the...

Re: Controller efficiciency differences for speed 2 vs 3?

Thanks teklektic exactly what I was after With regards to the CA I'm using 'pass thru' throttle mode. Is this the Controller at work here? I have all the Ramps turned up as I prefer a more sensitive throttle. I found Current throttle mode too laggy. I have the em3ev 3 position speed switch setup so ...

Re: Controller efficiciency differences for speed 2 vs 3?

Hi motomech,

Next pack will be back to 12s or possibly 14s. I charge as a bulk 8s 13200mah pack. 2 plugs I disconnect to charge as 8s and reconnect in series

Controller efficiciency differences for speed 2 vs 3?

Hi guys, My Setup is as follows: Leaf 35mm 5t / em3ev Infineon 9fet 4011 / 16s lipo / 26" wheel/cav3 Am happy with this setup for now but the speed is around 15km/hr more than I use/need. Good to have it there 'if' I need it but am curious if there is any benefit in removing. I don't want to change ...

Re: Tyre /rim setup for Hub motor to survive rocky single tr

Tyre / wheel survived today after being put through 1hr of nasty trails! Chattery running 50psi and hard work manoeuvring the bike now that it weighs double what it used too.I think the same trails are easier to ride unassisted and found myself jumping to far into corners. Still jumped well if not e...

DS: Wheel is an Alex supra BH downhill rim built with d butted 12g sapim e bike spokes with washers both ends. Rim is approx 34mm internal from memory. Just fitted the minion and it doesn't look oversized for the rim at all. I used to ride the same trails unassisted over and over with 40psi in the r...

Re: Tyre /rim setup for Hub motor to survive rocky single tr

So I went past the Lbs this afternoon and bought a minion 2.5 dual ply tyre and a Freeride tube (will fill with sealant) I read your replies along the way. I really didn't want to add more weight to the rear but you guys are most likely correct. The old school casing minion I bought are actually und...

Re: Tyre /rim setup for Hub motor to survive rocky single tr

Dan: Guess i'll try increase the pressure but it does make the rear end harsh. Going to purchase a 2.3 minion dhf or similar and give that ONE more try otherwise the hub goes. Not as if i've babied this hub in the past with what its taken but as soon as sharp rocks are thrown into the mix *ka-poof* ...

Tyre /rim setup for Hub motor to survive rocky single track

Hi Guys, I currently have a leaf 1500w hub fitted to a 2011 Giant Reign (DS). The bikes been electrified for 1.5 years now and used for light off road duties and has performed flawlessly with a 2.0 Maxxis Larsen TT UST tyre with stans sealant. I've previously had a great run with in the past before ...

Re: What's a used ASEAKO 250W TOURNEY worth?

Cool he never blew controllers. That could be simply the way he rode it, combined with a better quality controller on that model. Mine blew controllers because the type of controller could not handle the amp spikes if you started out in high gear without pedaling. But isn't that a noisy bike? Mine ...

Re: What's a used ASEAKO 250W TOURNEY worth?

My uncle has the 250w and the 500w 'extreme' version which he paid around $2000 with a shimano Alfine hub from the factory. Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Try 4000 watts peak... that is when the Leaf will blow the MAC away at any wattage.. :) This motor does surprisingly well, heat wise, and power wise over 2000W. I've been happy with the leaf, has really grown on me. Keep it charged in case I finish work early lately :D Apart from not getting a sign...

2nd ride with the leaf today at a more pleasant 25deg C. 18km / 45min / avg 19.6whhr of a mixture of trails/grass/paths/short steep loose sand hills. Happy I went through 5.4ah of the 6.6ah pack with the ~2000watt setting without having to wait around / ride slow for the motor to cool off / restrict...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

This is my first DD hub and at this power level it is not as exciting overall as the Mac. The Mac has a lot more off the line grunt but my seat of the pants tells me the leaf catches up once up to speed. For wheelies the Mac is hands down a lot more capable BUT with more power I think the leaf coul...
