Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

It is indeed much colder now and my bike is outside in the shed. But I tried again today where it is quite mild (10 degrees Celsius) and still in did not start. Is there anything that I can try to eliminate certain issues? I use the bike for my daily commute to work and not having a motor support i...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

That issue of no lights and no motor assistance should not be related to brake sensor. Still, yes, it is on the list since long time ago to be able to disable some sensors on the display and keep the system work, mainly because sensors can fail while we are riding far from home. I think no lights a...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Hi, I just swapped out a broken torque sensor for a brand new one, however, there is no assistance from the motor now when peddling. The vlcd5 is fine and has no error codes. I tried the walk assist to test the motor and that is not working. If the display is working does that mean the controller i...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

has the startup boost funcionality been removed from 0.20? I don't see it in the 0.20 configuration manual on the wiki Buba removed that feature from 0.20.0 but I plan to implement it again on 0.21.0. In fact, I created an issue so I will not forget this: https://github.com/OpenSource-EBike-firmwar...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I just installed 0.20 beta 1. And initial impressions is great!
:bigthumb:
Thanks for the hard work.

Emtb mode works great. I would love to have two emtb modes with different sensitivity.

I will report back after using it for my daily commute

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

After having biked now more than 300km with the 0.19.0beta8 I am still very pleased with is :bigthumb: . Some minor issues I have: - Very occasionally I have a 2-3seconds lag in support. I cannot really pin down when it happens, seems mostly at very low force on the pedals - The same as other users ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Well, then maybe we could consider to make the graph change with this SOC instead of voltage and this be a configuration -- and I mean for future LCDs like SW102 and 850C because they have enough memory to implement that. I really thought no one was using this feature... :-) I am also using the Wh ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I just upgraded from 0.17 to 0.19 beta 8 I have to say I am very impressed! I just did a quick 500m around the block, and the bike feels as if I upgraded the motor :) Of course, this is just an initial impression. I will commute to work ~9km one way tomorrow, so hopefully my first good impressions w...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I bought a 48V/500W TSDZ2 from @eyebeyesickle and installed it this weekend on my wife's Moulton APB. I have a BBS02 on my Moulton APB. My BBS02's original firmware settings have been completely reconfigured; the original settings were frankly awful - various PAS levels had not only power levels as...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I found the limitation of measured current on this controller: 18 amps. STM8 pin PB5/AIN5 measures the analog signal for the battery current and for each 1 amp, the signal increases 0.275 volts. The max current measured is: 5V / 0.275V = 18.18 amps. Assuming the signal can be linear and I did my me...

Regarding the pinout, some programming ideas and a protocol analysis, there was a conversation about it a while back: starting here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=79788&hilit=pinout&start=175#p1237467 and i summarised the pinout here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi,
Thanks for your overview. Where did you get your motor from? I have tried with 12S LiPo, and the motor controller cuts off above 45V... So it's hardly usable. I am running now on 10S. Does you controller work with a full 12s LiPo (50 V)?
Cheers

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Argh that's indeed a bummer. Looking a bit back at the pinout, by shorting the two plugs, what killed your controller is probably that you connected VCC (battery voltage) to the 6V out for the light (green cable) and the white cable (VCC-0.9V) to sensor input. So the you got battery voltage on the i...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

@hurzhurz:
Thanks for all the work. I would like to use my TSDZ with 12s, and I would guess that this might be possible by reprogramming the controller. Since apparently, it used to work before. But sadly I have no experience whatsoever with the MCU programming/decompiling.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Ok, a quick update. Today, I charged my LiPos to 4.1V per cell (49.2V). And while the Display switched on, there was not support from the motor whatsoever. So, I already feared that I fried the controller or something, but luckily I had another 4s LiPo from the same brand and capacity lying around. ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Just to share my experience so far: I ordered a TSDZ2 with the "small" XH18 display from PSWpower. I ordered the kit on Oct 25, it was shipped on Oct 26 and I received it on Oct 31, with DHL. I never got anything that quick from China ;). I had to pay about 30GBP extra to DHL for import (115USD was ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Did anyone try to replace the stock controller yet? I would be interested to see if we could get a cycle analyst (or forums controller) to work with the torque sensor. My preferred solution would be a vesc with an arduino/teensy. Another controller would also allow for more volts. Does anybody have ...

Re: GSM crankdrive with VESC and Teensy "ForumsController"

yes, I used the Hall sensors. Autodetection worked fine for me. I think it might a tiny bit louder than my old sine controller (BMS Battery S09), but it's hard to tell since I cannot run them at the same time obviously ;). For getting it to work with 60V you probably would need a redesign and change...

GSM crankdrive with VESC and Teensy "ForumsController"
