Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

Would the magnetic bearing have cogging at all I suppose if it's all one field internally and externally the opposing field it would have the same frictional resistance from the magnets through out a full revolution but no cogging effect only from the rotor and stator themselfs with their segmented ...

Seen that rotor type on aliexpress the old type I had with single piece magnets but I never had one come off even at 8krpm. If you really won't to give the motor a world of pain wrap the rotor with a thin layer of fibreglass sheet or even better carbon fibre to help keep the rotor in one piece to pu...

Massive gear reduction and move the load slowly or huge power and low kv to move the load faster. What is the 60kg a brief description of what your attempting, 60kg can be lifted with a remote control car motor if the gearing is like 100 to 1 there's a guy on YouTube that has exceeded that lift weig...

I took one of those 1600w motors to 4.4kw with a sunwin trapizwave controller on a electric scooter so plenty of drag and it topped out at 48mph I done that for a full discharge covered 14 miles in 20 mins or so and used about a kw hour the motor was toasty but still fine for how much of a kicking i...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

To produce the lithium needed for a 64 kWh battery pack, for example, Fichtner stated that about 3840 liters of water are evaporated according to usual calculation methods. This is roughly comparable to the production of 250 grams of beef, 30 cups of coffee, or half a pair of jeans, according to th...

They now claim pre-orders for the truck are over 250K. Not sure what it'll look like when it hits streets- I'm not sure how a slab of stainless steel can have a pedestrian impact rating other than "Ghallager"- but this is one of the first vehicles I'm legit excited for. I'd still want to drive one ...

Re: Tesla Cybertruck

The demonstration did little to inspire confidence in the Cybertruck, especially given its radical design. Tesla’s share price has dropped by 6% since the market close yesterday, pushing Musk’s net worth down by $768 million in a single day, to $23.6 billion. The 48-year-old founder is the 41st-rich...

There's already blood on the streets. True. Let's hope that autonomous vehicles (even level 1 and 2) come sooner rather than later. Let's hope they have more sympathy for thier enviroment than this Pyle of 💩, the whole point of going to a battery car is for a sustainable future if we then add 0-60m...

I have to agree with hillhater on this one the problem is so widespread and ingrained we fool ourselfs that it can be fixed in 20 years or so. Thunderfoot has a video up showing just how much of a pointless gesture 20 million trees are to the co2 situation, U.S alone needs to plant 40 million a day ...

What's the bearing choice ? angular contact or a mixture of straight ball and thrust. I like the effort you have gone to but this looks more low figure production run than diy quality, it also looks hard to produce but that's proberly why they are not on every street corner the axial designs need a ...

Fork upgrades? all the goped forks seem to be much shorter tubes than the e300. More importantly handlebar upgrades, looked for SSC stem clamps online... A friend of mine has a bunch of freestyle scooter handlebars, they most definitely have the simpler stem clamps, but will they fit on the ssc cla...

Mini moto wheels use a 3 bolt disc and sprocket using 25h chain or the scooters use t8f chain both are not upto the task of many kw and surviving. 219 go kart chain and sprockets are small and strong but difficult to fit a custom hub is needed and the motor shaft has to have a 12mm d shape but it ca...
