Thanks Warren, it does look pretty cool. I agree that it does seem pretty complex.

Re: Electrom1 Long Wheelbase Recumbent Light Electric Vehicle
A good demonstration of the Electrom's handling. I had a chance to ride the Seawall on a quite day and a friend was there to shoot some video.

Re: Welding pannier rack to frame with mid drive motor inatalled on it
I've had great success bonding aluminum and dissimilar metals using carbon fiber and kevlar strands dipped in epoxy. You just mix up some slow-set epoxy, dip you strands and use them to wrap your parts. Carbon Fibre does not want to be in direct contact with Aluminum so If you are using unpainted al...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
Again, old paradigms. Tig, save your breath. I have spent 35 years trying to convince upright riders of the wonders of recumbents. Sadly it would appear that you are right. It's too bad though, my main argument is not that they are wrong about recumbents, but that they should re-asses the design po...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
I personally would not want to be laying down a foot off the ground with a big neon flag 8 feet in the air. I would not want to be horizontal 3-4 feet off the ground with my feet in front of me at the same level Why would I want to be stuck with the terrain I can ride? any trike or what I just ment...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
Adding a motor changes things... but not really, in the long run. What you have personally 'rediscovered' is a, basically, FF motorcycle. There are enough proponents of those, but they are about as niche in moto circles as recumbents in velo circles, and I bet for same reasons... mostly 'value mism...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
Chalo, I'd like to know. What was it? did some recumbent rider run over your puppy as a child? Yay! Special techniques to maybe catch up to the manners of a totally normal bike! I guess everybody was wrong for the last century plus. My "special technique" is nothing new, just simple physic...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
There is a lot of back and forth going on here, and as someone who has been riding a semi-faired electric recumbent for over ten years I have some specific knowledge. A fairing is about much more than just aerodynamics, it can provide weather protection, crash protection, and offers a handy place to...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
Anyway ... the fairing I have came with my Vanguard, and this is where under seat steering is at a little disadvantage - no place to mount stuff like a fairing, so it needs a couple standards mounted to the frame top tube, which is round. In practice that's full of problems, and it's more about tha...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
You don't have to do that to quickly run into the limitations of a recumbent. Debris in the bike lane that requires quick evasive action? U-turn on a multi-use trail? Quick portage up or down some stairs? Driver doling out a right cross? On a recumbent in these situations, you might as well be ridi...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
One of the things that should be considered when talking about fairings for e-bikes is that the old rules of weight no longer have apply. To one degree or another, you're right. But that's not the only problem with fairings on bikes. They're also fragile, noisy, and ugly. They harm the bike's handl...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?
One of the things that should be considered when talking about fairings for e-bikes is that the old rules of weight no longer have apply. With the extra power offered by electric assist one can implement a fairing solution that supplies aerodynamic advantages as well as weather protection, and becau...

Re: Custom Carbon Fiber Recumbent Frame M800 bracket
I love the Troytech frame, but I don't think it is well suited for a mid-drive like the M800. I would be concerned about the extra stresses on the boom, deviation pulleys and the overall hassle of combining such a long chainline with a powered crankset. Perhaps you might look at the Bafang G310 gear...

Re: Electrom1 Long Wheelbase Recumbent Light Electric Vehicle
tigcross have a few question or two. What size person does it fit? Is there a weight limit? I ride a recumbent trike that looks more like a racer because my seat is at 36 degs. This is far back as I can go. want to try 30-35 degs. Will need to raise the front of the seat. Don't want to raise the CG...

Re: Electrom1 Long Wheelbase Recumbent Light Electric Vehicle
There are quite a few already - Northern Lights, Podbike to name a few... at least 'upcoming' and close to production. Having looked closely at the Podbike pedal-by-wire system I can say that it seems viable. They have two separate motors, one that outputs the maximum wattage allowed in the EU and ...

Re: Electrom1 Long Wheelbase Recumbent Light Electric Vehicle
Yep, the Schaeffler is pretty cool, however I do quibble with the "radical and new" moniker. Others and myself have been doing pedal by wire drives for some time. I do like the simplicity of their system but it would not be ideal for the Electrom as I'm trying to keep all of the heavy part...

Re: Looking for a 72v 60ah battery
I would recommend getting a custom pack made up by UnitPackPower. They are a China based pack building company but they use high quality cells. You will have to wait a few months for the pack but it is probably the cheapest way to go. You might also consider going with two 30 AH packs as that would ...
