Re: VR-PARK Portable Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 Remote Controlle

The Nyko Kama is an excellent choice combined with the VESC. My favorite.

There's also the "Backfire-style" controller, which can be used with any ESC, available here: Carvon
And here: Enertion

Personally I don't like it's throttle response with a VESC but there's plenty of people using them.

Perhaps a spare set of batteries in your pocket would be easier and cheaper.
But it's still a skateboard dude, it ain't dead weight, you can push.

Tried it, unable to get a connection to Arduino using BT.
The joystick sucks too. Like 3mm range of motion.

The range seems realistic for a 60V 8Ah battery.
I get approx 25 km on flat terrain from a 50V 5.2Ah battery with a single motor.

For what it's worth, I'm doing something similar, i used an OLED display from this Italian Ebay seller . I'm using U8glib It's SPI by default but can be used as I2C by rearranging a couple jumpers. but I haven't tried I2C yet. Here's a pic: http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo291/pimp_daddy_photo/4...

I've been making some progress on my on-board DIY battery status / VESC data display. I finally found the time to draw a housing in Sketchup and have it printed via 3Dhubs.com, which by the way is an awesome service. http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo291/pimp_daddy_photo/1.jpg I solderded a JST c...

Thanks.
It's an 80A fuse which in hindsight is way too high, it will probably maybe only protect the batteries.
It's not in the way so I guess I'll just leave it there.
My max amps going uphill never get any higher that 35A, so a 40A fuse might be more suited.

Pins 50 & 51 as well as 53 & 54 are meant to be bridged: schematic . Speaking from personal experience on my first 2-vesc run: after having soldered a bunch of resistors and ceramic caps, don't forget that C25 and C35 are Tantalum caps with a polarity. Same thing goes for all the diodes, including t...

Re: VESC - Custom Applications

Once you have a few VESC's it is fun to control them externally over CAN-bus. Such motion control over CAN could be useful for multi-wheel vehicles using VESC. Another application would be to perform Cartesian motion control for a robot, but that is outside of the scope of this forum. The script se...

I'd say only go for a DIY board if you like tinkering with stuff and you're confident that you're handy enough to pull it off. Yes, you will need to lend or buy some basic tools. You don't really need Linux skills, everything can be done from Windows. Why go for a DIY board ? 1) You'll definitely le...

Re: DIY Anti-Spark Bullet Connectors.

Ok then. Current @12S = 50,4V/333 Ohm = 0,15A Required R for same current @25S = 105V/0,15A = 700 Ohm So 3 x 2.1K resistors will work, or 4 x 2.8K resistors will work, based on @chaka's findings. Capacitance will influence the duration of the inrush current. Play around with this simulation if you w...

Do the math: if 3 x 1K in parallel is ok for 12S, then 3x2k will probably be OK for 25S.

Distance 17km / 10,5miles Avg speed 24kph / 15mph End voltage: 3,6V per cell They definitely don't get me as far as the Multistars, so contrary to my earlier conclusions, for a mellow riding style on flat terrain the Multistars really gi...
