Re: Converted alternator on ebike controller

Sure, I use all types of Lithium batteries not just Lifepo4.
My favorite chemistry is lithium manganese oxide.

Re: Converted alternator on ebike controller

Are you using a 'Brushed' motor though? kind of, it's just that the rotor has coils instead of the usual magnets. The controller still 'sees' this motor like any other 3 phase brushless motor. The problem is obvious, you are asking for about 3x the amount of current those lead acids can provide. you...

Re: Converted alternator on ebike controller

Alright, it sounds like like it's just battery or controller then. Do you have a battery with a BMS? If so, is the BMS Amp rating at least that of the controllers peak Amp rating? When it cuts-out, does it recover after a few seconds or do you have to cycle power or plug/unplug the controller? Your ...

Re: Converted alternator on ebike controller

If you're not using magnets did you at least separately exite the rotor coils? You'll get no torque otherwise.

Re: Need help with a motor issue..help would be greatly appreciated!

That's not what internal friction sounds like though.
I also had the stator rub on the rotor once when I reinstalled the sidecover in a different position, I still recommend tightening the spokes.
Take the wheel to a bike shop they'll probably be able to true it properly.

It seemed to me that the aluminium was still causing some eddy loss, he did mention fiberglass and all.

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

Not sure if this is what its called in the states but what about HPL compact plates? (High pressure laminate) I work with it from time to time and it's a pretty strong material. It's not that difficult to machine and cut as well. https://www.fundermax.at/fileadmin/redakteure/_processed_/6/5/csm_Max_...

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

In that last pic it looks like someone touched the brass with one of the electrodes. :?

If you get it fixed and still plan on lending it to people then I recommend getting a case for the welder.

Re: Charging without CV or CC on a type 2 EV station?

Thanks for the info eee291. I was going to get a charger anyway but I was interested to know how they actually work. Could you explain how to get the DC combination station to "activate"? I'm afraid that is beyond my use case, I only have a motorcycle that uses the on-board charger. I'm planning on...

Re: Charging without CV or CC on a type 2 EV station?

I think you misunderstand, there is no current limiting on those stations. If you give the 16A signal for instance it will activate the solenoid but if you pull more it will disengage and throw an error. You need a charger connected to those that are within the current they are rated for like <16A, ...

You just wrote 58V I interpreted that as a 14S 58.8V fully charged 14S battery.

Just change the 14S to whatever your battery actually is.

Re: Manufacturer using home made connector

So, why should they care? I don't know if you are just naive or what. It's like Apple with their iphone charging port and how they are paid royalties for every aftermarket cable sold otherwise they would be locked out or whatever. There is probably no regulation about plug type on scooters, so it's ...

Re: Manufacturer using home made connector

You could also ask, why not make your custom connector? As you probably read in that forum in the charging section. The home pod is paired to the scooter and automatically authenticates my scooter every time I charge it. Forget any other EV, we can't charge even other Athers. So my guess would be mo...

That scooter is for the Indian market, if they decide to sell them in the EU they will have to make some modifications to it anyways to make it road legal.

Re: No earth wire between charger and battery

That's because the low DC voltage isn't going to give you an electric shock, I can barely feel the 84V coming out of my 20S charger when touching the output. I think it gets dangerous at around 120-150V DC :kff: Even then, Earth isn't going save you at high DC voltage because you are touching the - ...
