What controller is in the picture there? I've been searching for a good one for a while. That looks very nice!

Kama nunchuck for $10 [Amazon]

Just thought I'd throw it out there: There is a nunchuk listing for $7.50 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0047SFGDW/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new . Much cheaper than the $25 I spent! I can't recommend using the Kama unless you can put the receiver far away from your mot...

I don't want to pressure you into building toys for all of us, but when can I get my hands on one? I'm very excited for this project. Have there been any recent developments?

Re: Where to buy a VESC?

Ollin boards is sort of the "premium" seller in my opinion. Enertion is bigger and cheaper, but I've seen too many photos and heard to many nightmare tech support stories to spend more than $50 with them. On the other hand, Ollin has repaired my VESC twice, and even offered to repair it a third beca...

Re: Nyko Kama + Rain = BOOM!..?

Update: I sacrificed a helpless afterglow nunchuck for its precious potentiometers… The clear one is the replacement. IMG_6500.jpg I swapped the carbon and the wiper from the donor stick, the orange one here is the faulty assembly. IMG_6501.jpg I am not an organized human. IMG_6502.jpg I haven't tes...

Re: Nyko Kama + Rain = BOOM!..?

Yep. I reheated ALL the joints just for the fun of it, but the vertical potentiometer is behaving oddly… For some reason, it works fine in BLDC, but the resistance is NOT linear; it goes down and comes back up at some points where the wiper is touching one of the poles. I would find a replacement jo...

Nyko Kama + Rain = BOOM!..?

I took my board out for a spin. It was just about to rain; the roads were slick and the air was really misty. Besides loosing traction uphill (damn you, single drive!), and somehow not killing myself I noticed something odd a little while into my ride. When I let off the thumbstick, sometimes the VE...

Re: VESC Capacitor Fell out.. What?!

Ollin, it is indeed one of yours. I appreciate your offer no doubt, but if you could let me know where you source your caps from instead, or know of where I can get a small quantity, I would be grateful. I want to replace the 2 that are left, as the chances that they were exposed to the same stress ...

Re: VESC Capacitor Fell out.. What?!

Thanks for the BOM info. The caps you linked are 16x27mm and have a pin spacing of 7.5mm, but mine is 13x35 and has a pin spacing of 5mm. I'll probably replace all the caps at once, and put heat shrink or something all the way around them to protect the bundle from stress. I can even 3d print a sort...

VESC Capacitor Fell out.. What?!

So far, I've had a far from pleasant experience building my electric skateboard. Nunchuck problems, DRV problems, but one thing I never expected was for bits and pieces of my VESC to simply fall off- well, sort of. IMG_6317.JPG IMG_6318.JPG The center capacitor has broken it's leads off. I indeed in...

Have we looked into FOC or using a sensor-equiped motor? This way the VESC could do position holding instead of constant braking.

I've got bullets, but just after they are bracketed to the deck, so the join shouldn't receive any pressure.

Re: Goped esr blowing fuses

First, take the control board out and check everything. Use a microscope and check all the traces, but also test the wiring and power rails for unintended shorts. After that I would take a look at the rest of the wiring in the frame.

Re: Electric Skateboard on/off switch??

XT-90 S' look interesting, but I heard that they didn't actually do anything and that they were another gimmick from hobbyking. I like the plastic sleeve, though. Much better than fiddly heat-shrink.

Re: could vesc cause motor overheat ?

Perhaps the motor is not rated for your voltage? Or in an extreme case the bearings could be jammed.

Re: Electric Skateboard on/off switch??

I use a primer buttom (through a resistor), and a XT60 loop-key. I'ts bulky and if you have space in a single enclosure you should use a MOSFET based switch.

Re: Motorizing a existing truck

I'd probably be easier to make your own and take advantage of the flat area, rather than modify the truck to fit a "normal" motor bracket.
What kinds of tools do you have? You'll need to make something since it's a very unique truck.

Re: Vedder Antispark & Regenerating brake

So the VESC was unpowered, but was able to generate current and force it through the switch board? That seems like a possibility, but I don't know if MOSFETs work backwards, which would allow the switch to loose its authority to regenerative current.

Re: Ryobi 40V chainsaw, 63-54 motor, Lithium battery

What about a go-kart with chainsaw tank treads?

While the electronics are good, I wonder how powerful the motor is. Do you have an ESC to test it? Compare it its coil resistance, etc. to others on the market known to work.

:) Have fun!

Seems like you could fit a BMS in there, or are you running them blind (no balancing)?

If its just one phase then maybe its just one winding / FET / wire that could be damaged?
I'm not going to pretend I know much about ESCs, but this seems logical.

Re: [Help] VESC stopped working..

I've got a FX 888-D and 1 other crap iron; so no hot air capabilities. I'd be willing to reheat the pins, but I think they're too small for ironwork.
Do you think you killed yours by luck or by the hard accelerations? I haven't spotted anyone else warning others to be gentle on the throttle.
