I was looking at the Hobie Mirage drive the other day and thinking how cool it would be to have a peddle powered kayak when I thought, how hard would it be to turn a mid-drive electric bike system into something similar? 3DR the drone company btw. And in RC I would say 3S is the most common. Generally cheaper as well.

Brilliant idea. I got a great deal on 3dr 3S lipos. 60 batteries at 3500mah each. 5 Packs in series for 15S leaves 12 packs in parallel for each. 42Ah. So I was planning to run 4.0 or 4.1 just so I wouldn't have to balance as often since I will have plenty of capacity. I never thought about it lower...

Many off the shelf kits these days say they are good to 14cells Lipo. Since 3cell RC batteries are the most common it's more convenient to build a pack for your bike (or whatever) at 15cells. What happens to a controller that is running too high a voltage? If you don't run it at 100% will that prote...
