Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development

Paul, can't you put a strain gauge of some sort on the pulley to detect torque from the crackset?

Hey Paul, the new kit already shows as sold out on the web site. Is there a chance to get a kit anytime?

Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development

One more question - the throttle version, is that going to be the PAS version plus additional input for throttle or does the throttle version change/remove the PAS function in any way?

Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development

Hey Paul! ETA? Gen 2 kits are now available on the website! Thanks for your patience! Can the freewheel accommodate 110 BCD or 130 BCD? The freewheel is 104 BCD only, but I have adapters to run 110mm asymmetric for those that want to run double front chainrings. Shit. 110 asymmetric is the Shimano ...

Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development

What new torque sensor? I've been having good results with the Erider for the last 6 months, so we are going with it. Here it is with the new freewheel hub. IMG_20200315_094502_copy_2024x1518.jpg Interesting. That looks a lot like Sempu but not quite. How's it better? I have the Sempu I got from yo...

Re: PaulD's lightweight mid drive development

So when can we buy one? Parts are trickling in. Just received freewheel parts today. Mounting plates should be here Monday, but they need to go out for anodizing. These parts are to accommodate the new torque sensor that is more robust than the Sempu. We should have kits ready in 2 weeks. What new ...

But the BAC500 supports 48V. Wouldn't it just work if I plug in my 48V battery?

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Indeed I'm using the 500-700W setup only at speed higher than 30 kph in order to limit the torque on the gears. By the way, what is the maximum power that can be used safely on this motor during city commuting, with many stop and go ? I can tell you that running it with a lot of stop and go at 1kW ...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Watch out with the max power. 700W-1000W is entering the gear failure risk territory. Use slow up ramps and install a temperature sensor if you can. I'm yet to do the latter myself.

Very nice. You should get a Sempu T4.3 for torque sensing.

Re: Sempu T4 crank spider

I have a T4 gen 3. It's got 5 bolts which hold the spider to the BB. The spider is a standard 130 BCD. The seller on AliExpress said they have 94, 110 and 130. If yours is 3rd gen (T4.3) then you should be able to get a spider like mine. HOWEVER the Sempu I got from this (the only one) seller on Ali...

Would Sempu variant A - the one with speed/dir signal (not quadrature) work with the CA?

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Would the G310 fit an 11 speed SRAM road cassette? Would it fit into a titanium frame with 135mm dropouts? I can confirm that Shimano CS-M8000 can be mounted and works well. Also can confirm that 11s road shifters with road derailleur can operate 11s MTB cassettes, BUT as prev poster mentioned, you...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Just discovered the even smaller Bafang G370 hub motor. 1:12.5 Reduction, 42n-m for just 1.7Kg - sounds kind of silly. Did anyone see the actual thing ? Rear version with a freehub body. 145 OLD though: https://www.bafang-e.com/en/components/component/motor/rm-g370250dc.html So any issues spreading...

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

Is it possible to put a temp sensor in this motor? There's an easy way to do this if you're willing to forego the internal speedometer sensor. Just open up the motor and remove the white wire from the speed sensor PCB, and instead wire it up to a grounded thermistor or other temperature sensor. Or ...

Yes, it would be a tight fit. Grin were working on an arm that replaces the torque washer, but I'm not sure if that panned out yet.

Re: Bafang G310 geared hub - 11:1 reduction ratio!!!

There already is a flat on the axle - it's where the anti-rotation washers catch it. One can replace an anti-rotation washer with a torque arm.

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I'm going to be away till next week so I can't check my exact settings but I think they're: 1. Start with all defaults for Sempu 2. Override torque averaging to 12 (default 24) 3. PAS rate is default 1V/s which for Tangent should be approximately 0.3ms/s. Make sure your power limit is representative...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I was also thinking of putting the start threshold some margin above the weight on pedals torque. Then I either have to step harder on the pedals to overcome it which already works fine, or spin fast with little force to do so. In the latter case spinning faster and getting assist may feel more natu...

Awesome. So we're on the same page about how this works and there isn't something inherently wrong I'm doing. I totally get why max(50, RPM) is done. The use case when this produces an artefact for me is when I'm moving slowly 5-15 kph, barely spinning the cranks and not trying to accelerate. In tha...

BTW, excluding some artefacts like this, the Sempu feels levels better than the Thun I used to have. Just trying to figure out if I can smooth those out.
