Re: Soliciting advice for 18650 cell choice in 2021 (+ 25R pack performance recap)

Several problems were mixed together here. In my opinion, there may or may not be a connection between them. New marking from Samsung I think that the change in marking was aimed at simplifying the orientation in the released versions of cells for customers, nothing more. It was confusing to decide ...

Re: Panasonic NCR21700T

Unfortunately I put them into the shelf because more interesting cells (at least for me) arrived which fully occupies my testers. I have crucial problem with those cells that any fundamental production consistency cannot be expected at all here.

That's good to know, speaking of - will we need to wait for next Christmas for an updated cycle chart ?
Good question, is there any worldwide public holiday around? The Samsung 30Q6 is already running in the tester.

Re: Soliciting advice for 18650 cell choice in 2021 (+ 25R pack performance recap)

Is it fair to say they're now as good as VTC6, or still too early to tell? I think that only reason for going with VTC6 is its overall "production stability". In case of price and performace VTC6 is beaten by 30Q "141" or HG2 in majority of tests, but those two cells suffers wit...

Re: Soliciting advice for 18650 cell choice in 2021 (+ 25R pack performance recap)

For 2021 I can recommend to look for Samsung 30Q6 version. I got samples for testing recently and my results can confirm informations from Samsung "Introduction of New 18650 30Q6" presentation. This new model have slightly lower DCIR but more important there has been made a huge improvemen...

goatman is right, if you need battery cycler, you should pick EBC-A20. EBD-A20H is only DC load without charging function.

And thanks for correcting my ES nickname :)

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

I had determined the correct color association, but then plugged them into pins 35/21 in the wrong order  . There was also a bad connection between the +5V supply and the ME1302 encoder, so that wire had to be replaced. Those things are quite common. Another common problem is that the sin-cos...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

I used the procedure outlined in one of the Sevcon manuals to determine the phase order of the motor we're using and which wire was sine and which was cosine. Once it was hooked up I followed the directions in another post on this forum and ran the encoder commision script. After graphing my voltag...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

Here you can see all contactor settings in older DVT 1.10 (licenced), as I mentioned before DVT software evolved during times and newer versions have more or different setting possibilities. But you could alway be able to set all parameters thru the "console" if you know their ID. Also I m...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

Hmm.. you can also try to use small automotive 12V relay connected to Sevcon contactor output and so your Kilovac contactor will be switched by it on another 12V power supply. This will show you if there is problem with the current draw of your EV200. But more probably there is still some bug in the...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

In my experience asking dealers, they only supply the software and license to paying customers, either buying the hardware or retaining them on an annual service contract. My impression was the goal is to reduce the value of secondhand units in circulation. I don't understand why there aren't freel...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

Hi André, I think you mixed several problems together :) 1) IXXAT USB to CAN Interface is not connected with the Sevcon DVT software licences. You should get your DVT Customer licence for free from your local Sevcon representative. (I think that some eshops offer IXXAT Interface together with licenc...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

Hi, your approach described in points 1-3 seems to be good. When capturing the data try also his procedure: 1) spin the motor to the full drill power (ca 1000 rpm is enough) 2) start recording data 3) slowly decrease the speed to the full stop 4) stop recording data .. the idea is not to record cons...

TM3 cells from Panasonic at least until MY2021 does have capacity around 4800 mAh as new. So this result is good.

Can we have a discharge curve on them please? I think I can do that, do you have any special wish? It will take some time. My opinion is that this cell is not much interesting, for applications up to 1C countinuous discharge, today choice no.1 is Samsung INR21700-50E (50E2). If you really need 3C c...

Finally yesterday they arrived. They are definitelly not Panasonic originally made as NCR21700T but some hand-made work. There is no bar code on the can. They seems to be cells removed from TM3 battery pack as there is visible removed UWB aluminium wire bond. Also the initial parameters are comparab...

Re: Ebike Battery Capacity Ratings

For a new Samsung 35E you should always count with minimum: 3350 mAh @ 12.2 Wh as nominal capacity (100 % DoD at 0.2C rate discharge), nominal capacity above 3400 mAh @ 12.4 Wh is rare.

Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing

-25 °C isn´t it much ? Specifications are usually down to -20 °C. Yes it it but it is air temperature which oscilates due to the cheap kitchen freezer regulator hysteresis. I suppose that the temperature of the cells in the box will be relatively stable and definitelly higher than -20°C. It is comm...
