Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion
I am not trying to start a fight here, I just try to understand what a gearbox brings to the table. I guess everyone has a different point of view when it comes to riding fun. In Europe most people have manual gearboxes for cars and automatic gearboxes are the exception. It's not that we can't buil...

Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion
Keeping the gearbox is, in my opinion, a good idea. This way you can maximize the torque on the wheel, maximize your top speed and, possibly, optimize your cruise speed efficiency by avoiding using flux weakening. It will also be funnier to drive, that's something most people seem to forgot somehow....

Re: Mobipus Controller Write Parameter to Controller issue
Good luck with Mobipus.... Their password system is a huge pain. I can't remember for sure what were the passwords. Something like "Mobipus" was unlocking the "user Mode" (whatever that was, not sure it will be enough for you but as I recall you would be able to set a few parameters, like throttle, ...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
Great work, it starts lookin' good!! Can't wait to see the first real parts getting together and this beast running! Kudos on your learning curve by the way, 3D design is not easy at first but it seems you got the basics pretty quick! Not sure how you designed it but you shouldn't have a problem wit...

Re: Vespa PX200E conversion
9KW electric is not really comparable with 9KW gas powered. The torque is much greater with an electric motor, so you can get away with far less than this. Don't go for a 8KW motor on this thing, that's completely ridiculous, you will never be able to supply it with enough power (or if you can, then...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
@APL my two cents: don't spend too much time on the cooling fans theory. I'm not sure yet which design you are settling on for your motor, but if it is anything similar to your previous one, then I suggest you to consider the following option: 3D print some covers. This way, you could very easily ex...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
Might be a few millimeters though, now that I look at it. Should be enough? Yeah that should work fine. What you want is a bit of air flow, primary goal is to use energy to get the bike moving, not making a gigantic fan ;-) Air has a very low viscosity so it will find its way between any tiny gaps ...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
Don't want to beat it to death, so I'll edge it back over to motors for a while. I found this 2015 article on an 18/16 axial thats similar to this motor, in that it uses straight through cores and double windings. Looks a lot like Dui ni shuo de dui's graphics a few pages back with the center pegs....

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
Finally have a line on a new (refurbished) PC, but the acquisition is taking time. Tower, new OS, and nice big monitor. :) One of the loose ends on the new motor is the spacer design. The last motor had spacers that were unidirectional, but thats not really necessary, and although they looked nice,...

Re: Living with removable batteries
Here in China removable batteries are a very common thing and most people live with it without any problem. Some people even have removable lead acid batteries... So if in your case it's lithium batteries, then it's not really heavy. Perfectly fine to live with it unless maybe if you're extremely la...

Well, I'm not so sure Onshape is free anymore,.. free company tutorials, or free for $1500. a year, or maybe a free trial after they call you up on the phone, and give you the business. And here's a system checker page to see if Onshape will work for you. https://www.pcgamebenchmark.com/onshape-system-requirements I have no idea what this system checker actually checks, but that's total nonsense. Onshape runs on your browser, you don't need anything but a good internet connexion a...

Re: Is it practical/possible to put larger wheels on an e scooter?
Looks like you bought the wrong vehicle. No it won't be practical to increase the tire size. Your front is already at the limit under max compression. Figure out what you want first, THEN build or buy. Pretty sure he can. It looks like the fork tubes can be moved down a bit. It will slightly change...

Re: Quick but too quick!
You can also check your wiring and see if your controller has a "smooth start" wire. Some of them do, the purpose of it is to limit the power at startup so that it is less jumpy. I can't see much in the picture you posted, it is way too small. Also, before doing any mods, I suggest you to check your...

Re: Help with battery size
I would disconnect the BMS entirely, plug the battery directly to the controller and see if the motor works. That way you can make sure the problem comes from the BMS or if you also have an other problem somewhere else. I never used this particular BMS and it doesn't seem to be a bluetooth one, so I...

Haha, I'm not worried, I saw how quickly you were able to put together an absolutely awesome motor, so I completely trust your ability to do it again! My only concern was for you not to get too distracted so you could be back on track with a new motor version asap! Note that, even if you use a corel...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor
Is there any advantage for you to go for a coreless motor? Aside from being lighter, which I guess doesn't matter so much on your build since your motor is inboard, what would be the advantage? I'm not really familiar with these motors, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume these have much less t...

600A  that must be on your 250 clone? I should buy one of those, they look pretty good! It's not on my motorbike, mine is limited by the controller to "only" 210 Amps battery. It's on a friend's bike I've helped building. But yes, I also have this very same BMS on my motorbike and it works r...

Ampacity choices are 50A/80A/100A/120A How can it withstand 600A? No idea where you got these choices values, but I have the 300A version. See here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32826820690.html It is marketed at 300A but you can put much higher values in the firmware. We got it working at 600A ...
