Re: Ninja 250 "Clone" Made in China

I worked mainly on the rear swingarm and the battery box these past days. The bike had a lot of play in the rear swingarm and that bothered me for a very long time. Made the bike slightly unstable while cornering on bad roads, I couldn't feel where the rear wheel was for sure. Basically all the pivo...

Re: Optimum Battery set up for my EV scoot Spec?

So battery Strategy wise I'm thinking 26S10P...LiPol 3.7v, 20C ,6000mAh.. Gone with 1200A -Is that too much?!? I do need to check Controller Spec can handle this.. Think I'm getting the hang of spec'ing the battery now. All learnt from this forum and the comments on the Thread -Cheers :bigthumb: No...

Re: Optimum Battery set up for my EV scoot Spec?

I checked out Li-NMC 25Ah-30Ah High Power Pouch Cells which I can get from a local company, so 4 or 5 will get me around 100Ah @ 96v = 9.6kWh... It's now time for a little exercise: Given the examples I showed on my previous post, can you deduct the minimum C-Rating your cells need to match in orde...

Re: Optimum Battery set up for my EV scoot Spec?

I need 96V in series and then a given amount of Ah in parallel to gain my range, so its all about how many nmc pouches of cells I can squeeze into my scoot package space and at the same time balancing weight and adequate cooling... Am I on the right track, or completely left field? Yeah, pretty muc...

Re: Ninja 250 "Clone" Made in China

I know it's a bit late to ask this-but why didn't you reinforce the horrible bends of the lower frame tubes in the front part, as you did it with the other two/four bad bends ??? IMG_20211117_201734.jpg That's because I can't, unfortunately. Otherwise I'll have no way to install the battery box bac...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

The yellow thing looks like a plug - if so, I could unplug it and add double cables after the plug: Do you think this would be possible? Yeah, totally. But if I may, a better way to do it would be to ditch this yellow plug entirely and directly solder your new wires onto the BMS terminals. You just...

Re: Ninja 250 "Clone" Made in China

Good news: the frame is finished, yay! First I went with a few coats of epoxy primer: IMG_20211117_201734.jpg And then a few coats of black. Was supposed to be mate black but in the end it turned out a bit shiny. Not sure why but it's not really an issue, still looks just fine. IMG_20211124_192004.j...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

but also didnt make separate charge and discharge ports (as their offer picture on Alibaba showed it, and I have ordered). So I will have to unplug the battery each time when I want to charge it... In their offer, the battery had a C13 socket for charging, and an Anderson connector on some 10cm cab...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

Thanks for the drawing. The problem is: I dont have this ANT BMS. I have the cheap 65A BMS-thing which the seller put into the battery, and I wanted to test it as it is. In this case I will need the precharge stuff, won't I ? Ah ok, I thought you were buying one. In which case then yes, your drawin...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

The ANT BMS does have a precharge system, you can even adjust its value in the software. No need to add another one :) I would also ditch the switches, they aren't necessary since the BMS does that already. So Basically I would wire it like that: wer.png The switch I added at the top is the ignition...

Re: Ninja 250 "Clone" Made in China

Thanks @spinningmagnets! Ok so now most of the big works on the frame is done. First, I've finished welding the gussets: IMG_20211111_193728.jpg Then I worked on the bike stand. I'm making more or less the same thing I've done on the red roadster, which is to have the stand directly on the swingarm....

Re: Ninja 250 "Clone" Made in China

Honestly-I have never seen such a lousily made frame. Even if a Moroccan or Pakistani backyard welder would build a motorbike, it would look much better. I guess it is a good idea to reinforce that... Yeah that's absolutely horrific. I have litterally zero welding experience (learned from youtube v...

Re: Electric Quad ATV

150 A battery might be a little on the weak side for an ATV I think, you should probably aim fo a bit more. Your choice of cells seems like a good one to me, nice capacity and good discharge rate  In case of doubt, it's always better to go for higher discharge rate, your cells will get less st...

Thanks Tyler! I sure don't mind, it's always nice to get some comments, the forum is a bit too quiet usually  1. How much does it weigh? Do you really need twin front calipers? It always upsets.me when a vehicle has too much braking. Remove 1 caliper and you'll have more power for the other ca...

Re: RIPPY SCOOT

Dui Regen is over rated untill you start using it, ALL THE TIME. Regen is the primary service brake and as experienced in my Daihatsu Mira, regen extended range by 22%. If you dont get 22% range extension, youre doing it wrong. Then obviously its over rated. You compare a car and a motorcycle, that...

Re: RIPPY SCOOT

Rear brake line is piggy backed onto front brake master cylinder so both front and rear brakes are operated by one lever. I really wouldn't do that if I were you. You'll have no way to control the repartition of braking power between front and back, it is likely that too much pressure will be appli...

Nice battery! The ANT BMS usually comes with a screen which features many things, including a speedometer based on hall sensor input. It can display total voltage, voltage of each individual cell, current consumtion, State of Charge, temperatures, odometer, etc. It's a really nice little thing, pers...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

What worries me is the cells they are using: if the cells were not sized to deliver the 300A peak then switching to a bigger BMS will not help. Sure the BMS will not cut the power, but the cells will be damaged, resulting in loss of capacity and a quick death. Earlier in the discussion you mentionne...

It looks like you are really trying to fry that poor little motor now  Is there a specific reason why you got an ATP instead of a far driver for example? Haha, yeah. I hope this motor will be able to take it. It was happily running at 510 amps per phase, but 900 amps might be a bit too much. ...

Re: Conversion of a Bultaco Sherpa

After a lot of writing on Alibaba, the battery seller proposes now to send me another BMS , and instructions how to exchange it. So now it would be highly important to know a good BMS, so that I can tell them what they have to send. Mabye someone can tell an exact brand name / model of a BMS which ...
