Re: In frame battery housings, suggestions please

I think I saw this on Ebay UK. Nice work. I like how it specs like a stealth bomber enduro type, thanks to that CYC motor but looks like a mountain bike. Less bother from the fuzz when doing day to day riding. I like how you've housed the cells in such a tight frame. Very creative. Sorry not a sugg...

Re: In frame battery housings, suggestions please

I did up a bike similar to that, I should have held out longer for a bicycle with a bigger triangle to maximize battery size but overall your bike is cool, blends in nicely and even looks stock and a great way to go incognito stealthily. Is that a RC motor mid drive? Doesnt look like an EGO, they h...

Re: In frame battery housings, suggestions please

This is extremely ghetto compared to yours, but I made a bracket with 2 rivnuts that attaches to the factory water bottle holders. The bracket on the box then mates to that and is secured with 2 1/4-20 stainless bolts. https://i.imgur.com/LVGyrQu.jpg I've seen hose clamps used but those aren't a ve...

Re: In frame battery housings, suggestions please

Cool bike :bolt: have you thought about magnets on the side plate some very strong ones available, you probably seen already Luna has a magnetic battery Mount still uses rivnuts attach base to bike though, maybe just epoxy magnets on if need battery removable, if not could just epoxy box to bike 8)...

In frame battery housings, suggestions please

Hi All, I currently make my own aluminium housings from 2mm sheet, folded and tig welded. I am interested to see what designs other use for a) frame attachment and b) side/access panel fastenings. For the last two builds I have used rivnuts to secure the main housing and either bolt through width wa...

Re: GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

To hold the motor unit up against the frame if the silver u clamp doesn't fit...or as a backup should it ever fail.

I use it as it makes lowering the motor for cleaning much easier rather than the clamps...

Re: GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I have a mounting problem to solve and am wondering if anyone knows how much upward force the unit puts on the frame at full power? I am looking at needing to fabricate a mount that will attach the unit to a moving bottom bracket and am trying to guage just how beefy it needs to be. The main side pl...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

That's a shame. It's hard to visualise how your packs could protect the cells and connections as well as potting (a picture is worth a thousand words) but I guess we'll have to imagine harder this time.

Thanks for your input though in this thread.

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

The resin, so I am advised, will turn softer and much more pliable in a thermal run away event and thus not be an issue for venting. your normal 2 part resin you buy at your local store will not do that. please dont forget that the resin does not give you structural strength and adds a considerable...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

the PTC is the plastic disk that is underneath the positive terminal. its the fail safe of the cell. it pops under high heat or pressiure and breaks the connection and vents the cell. its what keeps the cells from becoming a bomb in case of a fire for example. i have done loads of testing with pott...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

Well now you have me re thinking the whole idea. I have seen vids like that in the past and the consensus seems to be that they must have been "cheap Chinese cells" or built poorly (I'll be using LG 21700 cells fwiw), that appears not to be your line of thinking? "potting over the fri...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

alu would be good. but i would put some foam on the inside to insulate the battery from shocks, heat/cold and so on. i use this a lot: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acoustic-Soundproofing-Resilient-Tape-Isolation/dp/B07HXZSKMJ its sticks like a mofo on alu. it helps a lot to absorb sunlight, winter cold...
