Re: GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

To hold the motor unit up against the frame if the silver u clamp doesn't fit...or as a backup should it ever fail.

I use it as it makes lowering the motor for cleaning much easier rather than the clamps...

Re: GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

I have a mounting problem to solve and am wondering if anyone knows how much upward force the unit puts on the frame at full power? I am looking at needing to fabricate a mount that will attach the unit to a moving bottom bracket and am trying to guage just how beefy it needs to be. The main side pl...

Perhaps but I feel a thing is easier to imagine once you have seen it already, as you have Sir. Thanks anyway I do appreciate your experience shared.

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

That's a shame. It's hard to visualise how your packs could protect the cells and connections as well as potting (a picture is worth a thousand words) but I guess we'll have to imagine harder this time.

Thanks for your input though in this thread.

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

The resin, so I am advised, will turn softer and much more pliable in a thermal run away event and thus not be an issue for venting. your normal 2 part resin you buy at your local store will not do that. please dont forget that the resin does not give you structural strength and adds a considerable...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

the PTC is the plastic disk that is underneath the positive terminal. its the fail safe of the cell. it pops under high heat or pressiure and breaks the connection and vents the cell. its what keeps the cells from becoming a bomb in case of a fire for example. i have done loads of testing with pott...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

Well now you have me re thinking the whole idea. I have seen vids like that in the past and the consensus seems to be that they must have been "cheap Chinese cells" or built poorly (I'll be using LG 21700 cells fwiw), that appears not to be your line of thinking? "potting over the fri...

Re: 18650/21700 Case Material?

alu would be good. but i would put some foam on the inside to insulate the battery from shocks, heat/cold and so on. i use this a lot: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acoustic-Soundproofing-Resilient-Tape-Isolation/dp/B07HXZSKMJ its sticks like a mofo on alu. it helps a lot to absorb sunlight, winter cold...

A metal case for cylindrical cells? Oh you brave soul. Have you tried an image search for 'ebike battery case'? There are some premade ones for sale. Also check out '3d printed ebike battery case'. Pre made means no custom shapes to fit the lines of a frame...aka..looks crap imo. What don’t you lik...

18650/21700 Case Material?

Hi All, I'll be building a case for my next build soon and wondered which materials people have had success with. I am happy TIG welding aluminium (probably 1.5 to 2mm) or stainless (around 1mm) so these were my first thoughts but wondered if either had a benefit over the other in terms of bash resi...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Hi All,

quick question regarding dimensions if I may:

The 5p 21700 module is listed as 119.4 tall. Is that the full length including terminals or just the length of the housing?

Thanks

I believe the start current setting will cause the motor to stay spinning for a while, it certainly causes the motor to spin whilst pedalling with zero effort...kind of cruise control so long as the crank rpm is above 1

Re: Which Grease for CYC X1 Pro gen 2 Planetary gearbox?

I don’t have huge mileage on mine, maybe 1000 miles but no problems so far. I re-greased it as I think I had water ingress. It got a little more noisy but has since gone back to quiet with fresh grease.
