Re: RC throttle interface build tutorial........

I can't desolder the turnigy servo tester, what the hell of they use on these things, my iron won't melt any of it!

Looking for options on another way to make a throttle, so much hassle just to press a thumb throttle! Lol

Re: Simple throttle option for friction drive

I have no idea what a shunt is or a PAS, but I'll read up on it. Everything is so complicated just to be able to press a throttle and get it to work ☹️

Re: Simple throttle option for friction drive

Cheers Tek! I'll look into that, can the BEC coming from the ESC plug into this system? Do you know of anything else?

Simple throttle option for friction drive

Hi guys, I'm building my first ebike, I've got to the stage of being able to use the bike with a servo tester as the throttle, however each time I try to modify the servo tester to put a throttle in place I just can't get it to work! I've come to the conclusion soldering isn't my strong point and it...

Turnigy servo LED's all flashing

Hi guys I have that cheap turnigy servo tester, but when I plug it in all three blue lights just flashes and doesn't control the motor, anyone know what this means, I have used it in the past to test the wiring to the motor worked but I've just tried connecting my friction drive up onto my bike and ...

Re: Driving friction drive motor by the servo tester

Thanks both, I'm gonna wire up a throttle as well just wondered if it was just a safety issue for not returning to zero, rather than it could cause the motor or battery to blow up or something lol

Driving friction drive motor by the servo tester

Hi guys my knowledge is limited but I'm learning more and more as I build my friction drive, I have it wired up as far as connecting the servo to the ESC and it powers the motor fine, but I have read it is dangerous to use this servo as a throttle, how come? Is it just the fact that using a thumb th...

Re: RC throttle interface build tutorial........

Anyone that can help me with where to connect the 5V from the bec to the modded servo tester or is this just not possible ? just connect the output ( + , gnd ) of the BEC to the + and gnd of the servo tester, you could connect to the +,gnd of the throttle input. Re: Simple 6s battery charger

Don't know a thing about 'charging practice', just want a charger that can charge a battery up safely, I'm doing the friction drive as a engineering project because I'm an apprentice, I like the design and machining of the mount and pivot system for the friction drive as this really interests me. So...

Re: Simple 6s battery charger

I know it's not much but it's just to dip my toe in the water of ebikes really, I have no idea how much use I'll get out of the battery for what I want to use it for, I was going to use it with one of these motors https://hobbyking.com/en_us/kd-53-20-brushless-outrunner-195kv.html http://alienpowers...

Simple 6s battery charger

Hi guys,

I'm building a friction drive and I'm looking for a simple cheap 6s charger, is there such a thing or will I have to fork out for one of the icharger fancy thingies!

Re: Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Can anyone explain what a BEC is? I've emailed hobby kind for a list of parts and he advised this

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbyking-y ... utput.html

But I'm not sure what is does or where it is supposed to go?

Re: friction noob budget thanks

I'm in virtually the same boat as you, if you find out anymore info please keep this thread updated!

I'm interested if you find a throttle option, I've seen plenty on eBay but my electrical knowledge isn't great so I have no idea if they would work!

Re: Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Cheers amber, I'll check out that info!

Yes it will start without a load, then kick onto the tyre! I've seen a few designs so I'll use the bits I think would work on my bike and design it to fit

Re: Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Sorry chalo, your question highlights my weakness on the whole ebike electrical field, I'm not sure I really understand what hall sensors are (I've seen them mentioned on here a few times but only by people who know what they are)!

Re: Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Yeah it's an old simple road bike, nothing special really and I only plan on cruising the local bike paths, mostly flat with a little hills here and there. This will be my first attempt at it so I don't want anything special really, (or too expensive) I'm more interested in the mechanics and machini...

Re: Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Great post dan! That's for clearing a few things up for me! For trying to build a simple set up there doesn't seem to be much out there such as a bulk kit for battery controller throttle and a list of motors for example, I suppose that is the fun of it for some!

Re: Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Simple Ebike friction drive build?

Hi guys not sure if this is the correct part of the forum as most of the threads are of peoples actual builds, but I would really like to get into building a simple friction drive ebike to dip my toe in the ebike world water. I have had a look into the basic but what i'm really looking for is a type...
