Re: A good electric longboard setup

The motors you want have a too high KV. I'm using a turnigy aerodrive sk3 5055 280KV. This motor has even a high KV for use on an e-longboard. The best is 200-ish KV for a motor.

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Thanks!

Connecting the positive wire to a2 after switching on the TX will be some what of a challenge for me. But thanks for the fast reply!

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Great to hear, that the remote works! To your questions: To use it with one Cell just leave away the voltage divider at VOLTAGE_PIN To define which LED is for what define it here: //WS2812 settings #define NUM2812 4 #define BRIGHTNESS 20 #define LED_TX 0 //TX-Voltage #define LED_TRANS 1 //Transmiss...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Hey @RollingGecko, It has been a while I have visited this topic. My remote still works great with my VESC (using an Ardnuino Nano). I want to add a WS2812 LED to see the battery level of my longboard. I assume your code automatically enables the TX battery LED and the LED for the longboard battery ...

Re: Motor braking

I hope you figure it out. Let me hear if it works with the new firmware. I'm really curious :D

Re: Motor braking

I noticed my esc did not know the motor position if I let the motor coast. The same problem occured when there was a dksconnection between the tx side and rx side and it sudden'y reconnected again. So I managed to make somekind of cruise control so the esc always gets a ppm signal and the motor neve...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

RX and TX are communicating with each other. On the VESC side I have tried UART and nunchuck in the app configuration tab in BLDC tool and set control mode to current. But still no response from the VESC. I'm going to check the connections I'm clearly doing something wrong :) Serialmonitor says f. I...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Great progress on the remote, it looks great!! I hope you will find a solution for the RF. I finally got my vesc and tried your program but unfortunately I can't get it to work. I changed some pin numbers in the TX side since I solderd the wires on my arduino board and used some other pins for my pr...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

alright, I will keep using the nano for now, maybe I will buy sometime a feather. Still haven't got my vesc yet.....
One more question, is it possible to have this setup without an oled screen? I dont have enough room for a screen on my controller.

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

The code now compiles without problems.
I also have to wait on my VESC to arrive, so I cant test it for you.

Is the program still going to be compatible with an arduino if you are going the use the feather? I know there is a feather with an atmega chip.

Keep up the good work!!

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

I have tried to verify the sketch on another computer. This time the IDE says it is missing a config.h in the VescUartControl library (I guess the IDE is saying it). I have installed al the needed libraries. The ouput from the IDE; In file included from E:\longboard\longboard vesc arduboard controle...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Great piece of work!! I have made a remote as well, using a nano and a nrf24l01+ (one in a modded nunchuck and one in my e board). I am using a hobby ESC right now but I have ordered a VESC and want to use the arduino to control it. So I have downloaded your arduino sketches and installed al the lib...

Re: Boat ESC - success Only works for me though.

Sorry for waking up an old thread. I came past this thread before because I wanted to build an electric longboard, and I build one recently. I have used a 90A boat esc with a sk3 5055 280KV motor. The esc works good, but I have one problem. When I release the throttle, coast for a while and reapply ...

Motor braking

Hi everyone, I just registered myself to the forum. I have build my first e-board (with a lot of help from examples of this forum). The board handles great but there is one problem, if I apply throttle and let the board coast for a while and then reapplying the throttle, the motor would sometimes br...
