Re: Go Kart Update

Well at 80hp and 90ft lbs of torque, with a 2:1 (15f / 30r) gear ratio I should be able to get to 102 mph at 6000rpm, though because I have so much torque I could gear much more aggressively 1.6:1 (15f / 24f) and get to 128 mph (102 mph at 4800rpm) Holy sh1t! that is going to be insane! Pos...

Re: Razor MX650 mini bike build

Correct! 48v to stock 36v controller. Plus running the smaller motor sprocket means she ain't working as hard so should not be an issue. Or at least last me until I upgrade. I will grab a pic of the beer holder in use next ride. :D

Razor MX650 mini bike build

Been riding this thing into the ground for a few years now. Picked up a brand new one and figured it was time to make the older one more adult friendly. Goal is enough torque to be able to climb some decent dirt trails and still have 5+ mile range. First mod - added a beer holder Second - changed ou...

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

Nice summer day and dry roads today! Put on the 15T sprocket and she screamed all the way to 38mph on the dot! Maybe some loss of torque but not enough to notice. The motor did get much warmer though. Maybe 70ish degrees on the outside after multiple high speed runs.

Larger sprockets on the way! 12T(30mph) 15T(38mph) and 18T(45mph)

And a 25T for my 3.6hp motor I am going to mount up next.

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

Top speed so far is 25mph. No matter how many volts I throw at all her the motor will not spin faster then 5k rpms. Thinking the motor might have a governor.. It's probably the controller, not the mpotor that has a limit. One way to speed things up is to install either a larger motor sprocket...

Any updates!? There are some 100amp brushless kelly controllers of a skateboard in the sale section that might work for you. Have you looked at doing hub motors at all?

Re: Upgrading mx500, should I use 36v or 48v?

I just picked up another MX650 and looking to mod it. What did you end up going with and how do you like it? Have you looked into the hub motors at all? I am thinking it would be fun to have a hub motor in both front and rear. :D

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

I am restricting her to only 5100rpms right now. According to the calculator she should be able to do 26mph. But the torque to get to 26 is awesome. At full power 7500 rpms she will probably do mid 30's.

Need to make a few tweaks here and there, tighten the chain, but other then that she is a success! Next I will take her out for a top speed run and better footage.

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

Made some good progress over the last couple of nights. Finished the battery box and got everything mounted and wired up. Then I ran into the issue that I cant get the damn controller to power on.. Anyone know the secret to these things? The contactor has a +/- on it with the small wires that go to ...

Re: What’s stopping Ford and GM from building compelling EV’s?

The answer to your question is money. Once/if the profits are there they will build them. Right now they make way too much money in trucks and suv's.
