3S4P Vs 4P3S - Parallel/Series Vs Series/Parallel

Which is better and why?

Would be 12x 4S lipo packs running 50v 20AH peak around 300amps gokart.

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

Yay! Orders all shipped from HK! Also have my anderson connectors and 4ga wire ready to rock. Picked up a charger. Should charge a little quicker then Imax b6. EV-Peak C6 High Power LiPo/LiHV DC Battery Charger (6S/45A/1140W https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.amain.com%2F...

Re: Any sealed/waterproof scooter motors?

You might investigate if a submersible pump can be repurposed as a lower-voltage motor. I don't know if any are built for 12V/24V DC, but maybe worth a look. A 3000-RPM motor that runs on 120V, might run at 1200-RPMs at 48V. Many "universal" motors run fine on either AC or DC... If your needs are f...

What about using the motor from an electric trolling motor? Those must be sealed.
Excuse me while I google how to add sprocket to trolling motor. :)

Re: Any sealed/waterproof scooter motors?

Are car starter motors sealed? Was hoping to not have to fab up a waterproof box with midshaft but looking like that is my only option. Or a quick release to remove the motor once I get to the water.

Appreciate the replies! :)

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

Not sure if I am going to be able to solder 2/4awg to my motor so researching other options like adding more 8 awg wires and I came across this calculator. I might try adding two more more 8awg wires and it will be the equivalent of running 3awg. Putting this here so I can find it again. http...

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

Yes, that why. I suppose it is 24V/41A=0.585Ohm motor, in dynamic state. At 43.2V/0.585Ohm=73.8A. And finally, 43.2Vx73.8A=3188W. You certainly can throw all you wish at it, but need to raise the voltage correspondingly. I am not a rocket surgeon, but the way I understand it; the motor will pull as...

Re: Controller and battery amps?

Negative. It means that it can only supply 15amps to your motor. Which is really low. If you want any kind of speed going uphill you want at least 30amps.

This controller can peak out at almost 20KW.
I suppose, your motor will deal at ~3KW, right?
Beauty of industrial motors is they will take whatever you can throw at them and smile. As they are built to run 24/7/365. However, they are not as efficient. :|

What is the voltage rating for your controller?
24v-60v

More concerned about the way the lipos are wired though. Does that part look ok?

Re: Please Idiot check my wiriing =)

Stop: looks to me like you are about to feed 50.4 volts into a 24 volt system. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Correct this will give me 7500rpms. If heat does not become an issue I might move up to 16S for 10000 rpms and a good time. 8) And your 8g series connects need too be same gauge as...

Great project. Any updates? Finally bit the bullet and bought 10x 4s 5ah 25-35c battery packs. Lipo low voltage shut off device?

Looking at running lipos on my ekart and looking for some extra insurance that I do not ruin my brand new lipo packs.. I am running low volt alarms, but is there a low voltage cut off device that I can also run? I would need one that can handle 8s 12s and 16s @ 200+ amps. My ESC is non-programmable ...

Re: Industrial Motor gokart build

I assume you realise that the Haase chassis you are using is designed and set up for oval dirt track use. I do not expect you intend to "race" the completed kart at all, but if you do i suggest you stick to LH oval tracks as you will find that fast RH corners will be a very tricky manouver. ! You c...

Re: Please idiot check my lipo wiring diagram

I tend to agree, get some 30 c stuff for better performance, less sag under load. 10c continuous might be as low as 3c realistically, if you want the benefits of a low sag lipo pack. You might be looking at a lot of sag if you are pulling much more than 40 amps. Something rated 30 c continuous woul...

Re: LTO Lithium Titanium Oxide (Titanate) Battery 30S - Seeking the Ultimate Commuter Battery

I have been using these 11ah LTO cells in my car for the last 6 months , don't have a bms on them since they don't suffer from under voltage or over voltage . I do monitor them and after 6 months they have not come out of balance at all . i have found that they hold 95% of their power from 1.95v to...

Anyone try running the multistars above 5c? I want to run my gokart with 24aH 12s configuration at 50-150a continues and peak of 250-300a. Wondering if I am going to smoke these batteries and need to go with 30+aH.
