First off, throttles have already gone away. Many laws mandate their removal.
They have? Where? Outside of mountain bike trails which are a small segment of places to ride, it looks like all the laws treat Class 1 and Class 2 bikes equally.

Re: Wayne’s Dengfu Carbon Fibre FS 27.5” with Bafang M600 (throttle also)

FWIW, one reason I like Orange Seal for tubeless over Stans is they provide a handy applicator tip for squirting it directly in through the valve. I had a monkeyed up homemade thing, that always leaked or fell off just when I needed it not to. I keep the small bottle and buy the bigger refills now. ...

If you guys are having rusting problems, get some fully stainless bearings, they aren't that expensive and it beats replacing them all the time.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Since the ht1000 is the everything bike, it certainly needs rack and as many bottle cage mounts as possible for hauling things while commuting. Either 29 or 27+ wheel compatible too.

I'm not a big fan of internal cable routing, it looks clean, but can be a real pain to thread new housing.

I only do slow speed wheelies because I am old and fear tearing my limbs off with a mistake at high speed and I am usually in birkenstocks and shorts and no helmet.

I would have just nipped the vent sprues off if I knew they where going to cut through the fork (I have now even though they now made their own clear path). I just can't believe such tiny rubber hairs cut through the aluminum! I guess they must have got little dust/sand particles stuck on them whic...

Since it's smooth asphalt, my bear bell doesn't work, wait a minute....now that I think of it, unlike my other two ebikes, I don't HAVE a bear bell on the 27'5" bike I keep in the crane! Ordering one as soon as I post this, something real innocuous, a polite little tinkle will do, I always have a h...

Re: Idaho legislators eyeing 2018 ebike proposal

These class definitions were in part pushed by the ebike industry. They are entirely pushed by the bike industry, People For Bikes is behind all the Class 1-3 legislation. They took the European laws and combined them with the US federal laws to come up with it. Their goal is to get all 50 states u...

Re: Rear wheel not centered, is that a problem?

You might get enough wheel flex if you ride hard to get it to rub, but yeah, either the dishing is off, or the swingarm is.

A dishing tool is pretty cheap to buy or easy to make.

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

I always find it amusing that there is such a refusal to admit that even though it has pedals, a high powered ebike is no longer a bicycle, it's really identicle to an electric moped. The end result is really the same, you can ride it anywhere since no one pays attention or gives a crap, but to be a...

Re: Steepest Grades

There are free clinometer apps for your phone you can use to check the grade, road signs are often not very accurate and it can be fun to see how close your estimates are to reality. It's rare to see steep grades in the US since many or most roads are relatively recent and engineered for cars and no...

Re: What will it take to make ebikes, More mainstream ?

The total cost of owning and using a car and owning and using an ebike comparison are the same as those using a bike, which has been promoted for decades. I'm not arguing that it isn't true, but only the smallest fraction of one percent of the population choose to use a bike over a car and I don't s...

The same reason people won't ride bikes also applies to ebikes and in the US, the reasons not to for most people far, far outweigh the reasons to. Why would you ride an ebike? Its fun It's cheaper than driving It's quicker than drving Ownership is cheaper than a car It's better for the planet Why wo...

Re: Droppers

Droppers completely change the way you can ride a bike offroad, and while having it down while descending is an obvious advantage, having it part way or fully down on more rolling, curvy trails is the eye opener. You can move around on the bike way more easily and increase the lean, so it'll corner ...
