Re: Fully charged Battery dies with load: Why?

Sounds like you may have more then one problem. When you say the yellow wire do you mean the yellow phase wire? As for the battery cutting out, I am thinking that you have one or more weak cells in your battery that when put under load sags so low the bms cuts off power to the bike. Sounds right ab...

Fully charged Battery dies with load: Why?

I have a 36V battery, 10 or 14ah, form factor like standard delivery bikes, a Hebb. Paired with a Ezee geared hub motor 350w. Satiator says it is charged, in fact, said that it was over charged to 49v. I don't know why. But more importantly, the battery is fine under no load. I taped the throttle op...

Anyone used 52V Ego Charger for other batteries?

Has anyone been using their Ego charger to charge other 52V batteries? Does the charger require input from the T and D tabs? I have not been successful trying it.

Re: Understanding and Using EGO Power+ Batteries

Anyone still working on this? I'd like to be able to mount the EGO battery quick and easy but believe I can't just attach to the two outside connectors on the battery. I believe I need to attach somehow to the T or the D connecting port in addition or battery will not work. Yes/no? Perhaps an easie...

Good Overview of Controllers?

I have several diy ebikes and do some basic repair and diagnosis. I would like a consolidated introduction to the different kinds (and brands) of controllers: standard vs vesc vs ?????. Can anyone recommend? Thanks!

Re: Full suspension Kona build, need some advice!

At this point I'm kind of sold on mid drive. Matt, I'm interested in how your middrive worked out. I put a BBSHD on a Kona Kikapu a year ago, but I took it off. Even though I didn't ride hard at all, the deflection of the bottom bracket made me scared the lightweight aluminum frame would break. Wha...

Re: Very intermittent power

Wow! I got all the heavy hitters working on my post! Thank you! But I figured it out. I opened up the controller, thinking one of the connectors had come loose, and saw that the yellow Anderson connector was lightly melted/distorted. I had to use pliers to separate the two halves and was thinking ab...

Re: Very intermittent power

I would suspect the battery. Measure the battery voltage while trying to run the motor. If the BMS is tripping, the battery voltage will drop to zero and stay there until reset by disconnecting. If this happens, I would try to measure the individual cell voltages in the pack, but this may require s...

Very intermittent power

I have an old ebike with an old Bafang 350w rear hub motor. When I plug in the battery, the throttle shows power. When I twist the throttle the motor gives an instant of a jolt and then.....nothing. Only if I unplug and wait a few hours does it then give this smallest of signs of life. Where should ...

Re: Want advice on electrifying Kona Electric Ute

I agree with the BBSHD option. Reliable and enough power. But you might keep the 250w front hub motor in commission. You might it useful at times, especially if you have drive or electrical issues aft.

Anyone have a cradle left over from a dead battery? I can buy one new but hate too for the one little part I need.

Thanks,

Dead BBSHD

I started out on a ride just fine. 1 minute in, PAS 1, it dies. I stop, give a little throttle a few times, hints of a jolt in the motor a couple of times, then nothing. The display reveals nothing unusual, no errors. Fully charged battery displaying full voltage on the screen. I tried to restart it...

Re: Proper setup for touring?

I'm too new at this to offer sage advice, but ... after riding my 260 lbs of Ryan Vanguard long wheelbase recumbent plus me around a bit, I find that I'm not riding quite like I thought I would. (For example, I changed gears today ... only twice. Is that weird? It sure wasn't my plan to be riding a...

Saw this on the local craigslist. A 2018 Big Cat Expedition 750-Watt Mid-Drive for $800 with a Bafang middrive. What is going on? They haven't responded to me call yet. Saw the same deal off Google on the Venture Craigslist.

fast 20" front hub motor in wheel

I have a long wheel base recumbent (Ryan Vanguard). It is currently powered by a 500w cyclone middrive (36v, 20A). I would like to add a front motor, presumably a DD, to do three things: 1. Provide top end speed (up to 40mph in a 20" wheel 2. Provide mild (for safety) regeneration/ebraking 3. With i...

Same battery, two motors, very different performance

I have two 18650 36V, 4400mah, 158.4Wh packs that I run in parallel on two different ebikes with two different motors. When I run it with a cyclone 500w 36v it gives me significant acceleration and speed. When I run it on a Crystalyte DD hub motor with a CT3625S controller the motor has virtually no...

Re: Can I up the voltage in this Cyclone?

My 24v battery died so with fechter's advice that the throttle IS a voltage regulator, I went ahead and tried my 36V batteries. So far, there is no problem at all and of course a notable performance boost. Thanks again!

Re: 52V to 24V buck converter?

Fechter, that is extremely helpfu! I will try the 36V batteries I have first, be light on the throttle, see how it goes. Worst thing that could happen is I need to buy a higher power external controller.
