Re: MAC motor worth it?

I have a 5T Mac in a front LWB recumbent (Ryan Vanguard). I like everything about it except the whine, which is loud (especially with the winter fairing on. Statement: It would be much quieter in the rear. Question: How and how frequently do I lube a Mac? Could low lube be part of it loudness?

Currie controller

I was given a bike with an oldish Currie Electro-drive 24v 40A. The battery was dead so I tried some 36v batteries I had. Blew the controller (which you can see in one of the photos.) I would like to install a 36v controller, presumably external. Could you advise me what would work? Also, what is th...

Currie Electro Drive 24V 40amp controller

I was given a bike with this setup. I tried overvolting to 36v. I think I fried the controller. Anyone have another or a good whole motor/controller they no longer want. I'm just trying to not throw the whole thing away. I would also give the whole thing away if anyone wants it. I'm in Hillsdale, NY

Re: Help troubleshoot ebikeling waterproof motor - no worky

I recently bought an ebikeling waterproof set up with the 36v/48v controller and the 500w/36v Bafang hub motor. It simply would not work at all with a 36v battery (tested at 40v). The display showed one led of power but the motor did not respond at all to the throttle. When I plugged in my 52v Ego b...

I had a cheap, cast aluminum suspension fork break with a rear hub motor. Wasn't even going fast. Just not strong.

Re: Hoverboard Batteries vs. Alternatives

wturber, thanks for sharing your setup- very sweet and solid looking! I will have to get more sophisticated if I try to string 8 packs together. But your comment encourages me to parallel by two double packs together, making 4 units together. I have been running one double pack and then running the ...

Re: Hoverboard Batteries vs. Alternatives

The one shown in Stu's ebay link looks improved too, UL sticker. Balance circuit. The P- and C- pads are together. My older models (1) have no balance circuits and (2) charge thru the output. The latter is bad practice, if your BMS only has its overvoltage protection on the charge circuit. Apparent...

Hoverboard Batteries vs. Alternatives

I use these batteries on several ebikes I loan to friends: https://www.ebay.com/itm/192753375198. I have often gotten them around $40. I always have bought Samsung cells but just bought two of the LG. I parallel two together for 8.8Ah. Obviously not for long treks. I am wondering why I don't read ab...

Re: Hub motor not centered

I take it it came this way from the online vendor. Take it to a local bike shop, they can dish it which means to center it. This can happen on a front wheel hubmotor too. It did to me and I took it to the LBS to fix/dish. It is now centered.

Re: BBSHD dies after 10 seconds, again and again.

I think there might have been water in the speed sensor. (My son mentioned riding through a creek.) That may have thrown the whole system a curve.

Re: BBSHD dies after 10 seconds, again and again.

Theres a chance it may be the battery. Is there anyone else nearby that will loan you their battery for a few minutes to test? It was not the battery. Did the same with different batteries. But after stopping (and having to be restarted) maybe 20 times, only showing the motor icon, it finally showe...

BBSHD dies after 10 seconds, again and again.

My BBSHD runs for about 10 seconds and then kicks off, whether in PAS or throttle. The display stays lit and shows a picture of a motor. Turning on and off starts the things again. What does it mean? Thanks!

Re: 52V battery dropped to 3.3v output, what to check?

Strong indicator the BMS has shut down. Possible weak string of cells or possible faulty board. It might be helpful to know just a little bit of information which might be useful, such as: How old is this battery? Roughly how many charge cycles? Charge to 90% or 100%? Full charge roughly how often?...

Satiator reads 56.9v charging. So the power is in there. The unit has no fuse.

52V battery dropped to 3.3v output, what to check?

I have a Dolphin 52V battery. Was on an several day tour. Day one, the battery worked fine, next day 3.3v. I've opened it up but am a newbie. What should I check first?

Fortunately, I had a backup, but had to charge more often.

New 52v battery sat unused for two years...

I see on Craigslist a Luna triangle battery 52v, 28ah, GA. It is unused, bought in 2017, still with wrappings on the plugs. How much capacity will it have lost? They are asking $600 for it ($1000 new). Thanks.

Re: Can I up the voltage in this Cyclone?

I am thinking about doing the same thing to my 500w Cyclone. How well is it holding up to 36v? It has been running just fine. I also wired in a voltage reducer (60v-36V) so I could use my 52v batteries. Then I even thoughtlessly connected a 56v ego battery to it without the reducer. I only use it f...

Re: Fully charged Battery dies with load: Why?

Your battery dies because its dead. Old lithium can often still charge to full, but its capacity to handle a load is long gone. You might learn a lot trying to fix it, but if you want to ride, you need to shop for a new battery for this bike. Dogman, thanks so much for the unequivocal reply. I'm wo...
