Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Polygon finished!

I have fitted the 9T sprocket on the motor and the 30T chainring. It all works very well. The 9T works better, but as mentioned by everyone else, it is more noisy. All that's left now to do is to ENJOY IT!

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Thanks FZBob, you made me spent more money. I've ordered the 30T Wolf Tooth chainring. I don't think changing from 32T to 30T will make much of a difference. The main reason I bought it was that when I'm on the 50T at the back the chain line is very bad. With the 30T I hope to drop to 46T to get a b...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Thanks for the info. I will have a look. I like the Wolftooth products. I am using a 104 BCD spider. SRAM adaptor.JPG The new Rebel sprocket is also a 104BCD, so I would like to stay with this mount. The smallest I've seen on a 104BCD was 30T, with the spider interfering with the chain. My SRAM chai...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

So I took the bike for its first test run. The best part of the bike is that it still has the feel of my original bike, just a bit heavier. With this new bike if you want power you need to spin the chain ring fast to get the motor working. It reminded me of the spinning gym classes when I though pe...

So I took the bike for its first test run. The best part of the bike is that it still has the feel of my original bike, just a bit heavier. New Rebel chainring.jpg I had a pedal assist, with trottle, Bafang BBS02, Norco MTB and still have a torque assist Bafang mid drive MTB, so I think I can make a...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Hats off to the analogue approach but maybe consider going down the Arduino path. Opens up endless possibilities to how you control the drive. You don't need to be a programmer either with the block programming solutions now available. Thanks! I do agree that the analogue approach these days are ve...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

I was hoping to set up the R switch for the max power and only use the run button when I need short bursts of high power. Don't think I'll lock it in cruise control. Not sure if it will work. I have read in your previous post about the Absolute max current setting. Mine is also set to 100A What Andr...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

I have finished building the Push button CCT for the ADC input to the VESC controller. Basically you can adjust the three selections (L/Middle/R) to any voltage you would like. You can also choose to hold the green button in for RUN or lock it in with the cruise button (latched). I have tested the C...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Just received the Rebel 90T sprocket. Somehow it ended up being only 3.5 mm thick. I did not ask for that, but it looks good. Hope it will be strong enough.

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Thanks FZBob!

Yes, I am planning to join the motor bracket to the battery that fits to the down tube. That should stop it from side ways movement.

I assume the push button would have to be something like this.

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

So I've started the build on my 12 speed Polygon N8. Polygon N8.jpg For this ebike conversion the gearing on FZBob's bike is very good (22T front and 40T back). With the SRAM 12 speed the smallest sprocket is 32T, and a big 50T cassette at the back. Compare the two and FZBob is still better for keep...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

I've been following this build for some time now and really appreciate all the very good suggestions. A huge thank you to FZBob for all the hard work he already put in. I've bought most of the parts, same orange motor, and will start posting some photos soon. I've asked FZBob some technical question...

Very nice battery and charger. Looks like a space ship with a mother ship charger. Will have to upgrade the scooter to match the cool look.

Re: Animalector's Ebike Builds

Are the info on the display useful or is it just nice to have? If you drop the bike on it's side or just laying it on it's side in your car during transport, you always risk the change of cracking the lcd screen. Keep It Simple

cut the whole pipe off and weld in an arch to go around the motor. It you get a good solid plate and someone that can weld, maybe.

Re: Animalector's Ebike Builds

The question is, will 1 inch of extra clearance from the ground make such a big difference to the type of riding you are doing that it is worth taking the risk of cutting into the frame. Brave move - you do it first then I'll think about it.

Yes Sean, we are spoiled. I live across the road from the Smithfield mountain bike Park that is behind JCU campus. Kepler, that is a very posh battery box, nice bike frame with lots of space.

Thanks. I am planning to stuff all the gaps around the battery with firm rubber just before I close it up.
