Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I would like to ask users of kWeld, how is the status of heat, working temperature? I do not see any sink heaters, or fan? Thanks for answers... Never had any issues with the unit itself. Electrodes on the other hand get too hot to handle without gloves if pulse energy and time between welds dont a...

Re: Stealth Bomber type electric enduro purchase

I have a EEB frame on order and suspension and other bits. But the drive train is still up in their air I'm doing as much research as possible before deciding on a Qs205, qs273 or a mid drive. I have EEB frame too. It can take mid-drive but its really meant for hubs. 205 is good for up to 12 to eve...

Re: Stealth Bomber type electric enduro purchase

Some reason I get the feeling people don’t like it that I’m happy about my purchase lol There is always hub vs mid-drive argument going on somewhere.. Both have their good and bad features and every person has their own preference based on their experience and usage. This kind of bike is not lighte...

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Would the resistance reading after a spot weld be a good proxy for the resistance of the material being welded (assuming the strips are identical in size and are being spot welded to the exact same battery)? I had success in spot welding two different materials (SigmaCLAD and “Nickle Silver”) using...

Re: 2m diameter wheel inflatable car-ish build!

Original vehicle according to video weighs 119kg. Not sure if its with or without batteries. Some of it can be reduced but assuming its 2 person vehicle (It would be nice to go to lake with friend) -10 or 20kg don't matter that much and anything more seems unrealistic with cheap materials and hoverb...

Re: 2m diameter wheel inflatable car-ish build!

Wheel diameter and voltage are something that could be easily changed. Rewinding 4 motors seems like lot of work and something that I have not done before. Could I get 2 or 3 times torque out of rewound motor like from gear reduction? (at same phase amps) Probably not. 1.5m wheel diameter is still h...

Re: 2m diameter wheel inflatable car-ish build!

First of all. Old thread but Amazing project! I have been thinking for awhile to built vehicle like this. Biggest concern of mine is how the wheels will last and how expensive those will be to build (some pvc fabrics that I looked at 600-900g/m2 were +500€ for the required 2.5x20m piece to cut 8x2.5...

Re: KTM 200 exc goes electric

I was just thinking why you have different experiences with the same chain and motor/controller. Maybe it just has to do with most likely little different gearing ratios. Atv could have smaler wheelsize so at same "ground" speed chain travels faster and with less torque/stress. Or maybe motor sproke...

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I quess it would be neat for storage to disconnect it but since it leaves electrodes and battery leads still hanging there its not that big deal. And making plugs for high power wires is more expensive and reduces performance  Or you can just make nice box/case for it that has place for welder...

Re: Another "stealth bomber" build.

So any thoughts to my question about the mount? Hard to say. Even small changes to suspension geometry can have big difference how it will feel/work. I have eeb enduro frame and suspension always felt like there is way too much weight for suspension to handle. I moved the shock just 1.5cm away from...

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I've been working through this thread reading up on the unit and will be ordering one, probably next week, but I have one question that I haven't really seen the answer to. Is the 'kSupply' able to be used to run the kWeld instead of using a battery pack, or is it just meant to charge/power the kCa...

I think its better option than under swingarm but I also am not an engineer. I have been watching your progress and it seems like you are skilled fabricator so I would like to point out one other possible way to do it. Mout the motor "inside" swingarm or kinda build your swingarm around the motor so...

Anyone, no one? Is it common to have a QS motor that is not labelled? Seller says all there QS motor are all marked with their own logo NC
Your link is broken atm so no way to be sure. What I know is that they do make motors with customer logos etc so it could be made by qs..

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Silly question but has anyone made up their own supply pack for their kweld using 18650s? Will likely use a ~65AH car battery most of the time but it would be great to use them for a more portable setup. On another note, drew this electrode holder up for anyone that may find it useful, shaped to be...

I'm set to 1000 amps...I think. =) That can't be adjusted, it's always the short circuit current that just happens. To check the actual reading, keep the foot pedal down after a weld. OK...what's the setting in the welder do? There's a setting for amps in there. Welder has setting to abort weldingp...

I welded 5 batteries with it in the last hour and I did around 4200 pulses at 10J which used 37Wh from a 2S 10Ah 130C graphene lipo. The electrodes didn't go past 45C with a rate of around 70 welds a minute, the lipo was around 30C, the 8AWG cables and terminals were around 35C, the mosfets were ar...

Re: Noob EEB Enduro Build

That style of brake rotor is very thick and makes it even harder to make wires fit. I took the "easy" way out and run my setup without real rear brake and have variable regen on rear brake lever. Most part its just like normal brake but it has just a little lag and it cuts out if battery is full and...

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

For average user high c-rate lipo in 3-4s is ok. Or if you don't have one you can take battery out of your car. You cant drive it anyway when welding  I don't have clue how many welds 3s 5ah pack can do but when it is "empty" you can just take little recharge break.. BTW: If I use lipo with kwe...
