Re: Ebike frame

There’s always this. Put a 3k-4k qs mid motor on it and it will rip for sure. Go all the way to 72v for maximum power/torque. $700 delivered ready to go.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I’ve seen box as an option for new bike builds, not 8 speed but the name is out there it’s a new option to shimano or sram. I don’t know first hand the quality, but this distributor for the cyc set up “electrifybike” seems to hype them up well for Ebike use. Box two and three have replaceable gears ...

Any updates?
I’m considering this motor with the left handed drive version like you are using.

Re: Optimal donor bike for CYC X1 build?

Thanks for the info on version 3.
Consider a fatbike? Adding heavy batteries and a motor on a lightweight carbon frame bike is well, not necessary. A steel or heavy duty aluminum frame would be my choice. I’ve been looking at the surly ice cream truck or the wayatt maverick. Both in the $2500 range.

Looking good. Is there a bike under there? Is the votol
controller no frills? 3 speed switch? Any regen
brake feature? What’s your reduction ratio 6-8:1 I’m guessing by the photo?

Or rather if motor power applied to the disc side and human power from the cracks applied to the sprocket side.
Yes this seems like a great way to save bike drivetrains.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Any way the coaxial cyclone motor would work for a small dirt bike? There’s a #410 chain version that can come with an 80amp controller. I would think it’s left hand drive but I don’t know for sure. Unless you use bike wheels the normal pedal side has no where to go as you can’t put a cassette (or m...

DingusMcGee So you’ve given up on pedals? The move to a converted dirt bikes may also come for me. New 125cc, inverted fork, tube frame bikes can be delivered for $1k. Might get $150 for the motor, exhaust etc. qs midmotor with controller maybe $700, 3 lipos 16-22ah $900. If it gets near or over $3k...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Experimental based knowledge TRUMPS any intuition based cross talk of what the Cyclone 3K can run for high voltage. 3. I ran a Sabvotan controller at 90 amp and 116 volts to power a Cyclone 3K fat tire bike. No probem until I tried deep snow milling. I burned up both the motor and the controller in...

Re: SQUEAKING NOISE

I would do a thorough cleaning of the ball bearings and the retaining cup they sit in. Clean up all of the old grease because it could be contaminated with dirt. Use automotive brake cleaner, acetone or even windex to get it perfectly clean. Put back together with new grease. Taking out the ball bea...

Re: Left side drive: what's current?

Left side drive I’m all for. Leave the bike as normal on the right side so it’s rideable. If you can increase power to not need gears and go single speed the left powered bike should be ideal. To use the rear disc brake and a sprocket you have to space out the rotor and alter your caliper mounts to ...

A bolt together version would eliminate the welding. More people could put it together. Threaded holes would eliminate through bolting.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I’ve always eliminated the plugs once I’ve got the cyclone up and running. It helps reduce the wire rats nest and the problems you’re encountering. It’s true that Luna sometimes sells the cyclone, basic 40amp and also the 60amp version. Sick bike parts usually just sells the 40amp version and no isi...

Re: 500C Display + 72v Battery?

I’d try to power it up with the controller and motor and see what happens. If you can determine the power in to the display maybe put in a low amp fuse. Trying is the steps to knowing for sure. I once tried to extend my spot welder with jumper cables, big fail. Now I know.

Re: 500C Display + 72v Battery?

I think it’s more of a function of the controller the display is attached to. Miss matching voltages COULD be damaging to the controller or display or both. Although a display may not have a voltage range or rating it could be assumed that it would work only with the included or suggested controller...

It seems too good to be true. I’d be cautious. But yes using the two batteries in series where the voltage increases with each additional identical battery. Capacity and amps remain the same as single battery. Make a custom plug with two female xt60s. You disconnect them to charge them separately an...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

The batteries have gone up roughly $150 each ouch! I’m glad I bought when I did last fall for the 11/11 sale. It wasn’t much of a savings over the regular prices but now the price is just crazy. $450 more to power up your dream ride ( getting three for 72v) is going to hurt, shop wisely or wait it o...

Brandon122603 I’m still dealing with bent axels in the back. To recap the original and a chrome alloy replacement 3/8” have been bent at 60amp 75volts first rides out. The bike was still rideable with a chain retighten, you need the adjusters and go single speed, the chain needs to be very tight. Yo...

I’ve had good luck so far with this fatbike fork from AliExpress. It’s similar to the ebay one you’re asking about. You can get it in all black which is nice. Re: Aluminium Triangle Case build, minimal tools?

If you still want to go with metal my recommendation would be to eliminate or minimize the inner structure. Use a hand brake to put a bend alone the edge of each piece. You will be limited to 12” bend. Use the bent flange for the rivets.

I’m not so sure about a bargain. They were $175 each. Got a bunch of AliExpress items from the 11. 11 sale which wasn’t so much of a sale anyway as it seems these are the regular prices. This bike has the 3 22ah where my retro cruiser used 6 16ah lipos but the multistar. So far the performance is g...
