very embarassing....i have broken half of the surrounding magnet.... so my question: can the device still be working or is it impossible? if anyone knows enough about this kind of coil...it should be just the shield..so maybe I am in luck.. 20181211_171239~01.jpg Glue the core back together with su...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My reason for buying a 36v with 36v battery was to minimise weight. Great piece of info for my decision making process :) Thanks a lot, indeed weight matters! I Probably not correct though, (AFAIK) the motors are the same, just different windings, so same weight. The battery can be the same weight ...

So I opened it up to reflash it and water dribbled. out. I'll see if it dries out, and if not looks like I'll be ordering a new one. Give the pcb a scrub with a toothbrush to clean any deposits that have formed off. (you can use clean water, its already wet) , paying special attention to the pins o...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

my personal question would be: why would one buy a 36V motor if one owns a 48 V battery already I think the big issue would be your pedaling cadence. These motors don't produce much torque above modest pedal cadences. i.e. if you pedal fast, the motor stops helping. This gets worse as the battery g...

Or should I just pony up the $50 and buy a VLCD5?

Thanks!
As said the open firmware currently needs KT-LCD3.

That does however mean that someone here might have a left over XH18 or VLCD5 they would be prepared to let you have to use with standard firmware.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

You are forgetting about mass and inertia, at standstill there is max torque with no ability to transfer that into motion momentarily, once rolling some of that torque is immediately transferred into forward motion which limits the amount of torque on the gears. Also consider that max torque is at ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

The stripping of the blue gear is little to do with temperature and all to do with sudden heavy loading. The metal gear attached to the motor shaft is akin to the blades of a grass cylinder mower and slices up the plastic gear if an excessive loading is suddenly applied such as starting from rest o...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I've been running the TSDZ2 52 v version for a year now over some of the steepest terrain and and have never found overheating to be a problem ... There is already a relatively large surface area of metal to metal contact where the motor inserts into the motor housing to transfer heat away. The maj...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Most of these quotes on power are for some time frame like 1 hour. I have no doubt you can do 400W or higher for a brief period. The only real way to be sure would be to get some power measuring pedals but that is $$$. The hill climb seems a good way to measure power without needing anything to be ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I would be happy if I could get cadence up to 100 which would be 30mph. It would be great to see cadence/torque/power graphs if you do play with it. I am not sure if you have tried it with a 1/3 full battery yet? But the max cadence on stock firmware is pretty low once the battery gets down. At som...

I interpreted what you wrote as you assuming a calibration coefficient (from the source comments) f...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Doing the math in calc_pedal_force_and_torque I get ui16_pedal_power_x10=2229 which Im guessing is multiplied by 10 to keep up the digit accuracy using fixed point. So this should equate to 222.9 watts (Im assuming the unit desired here is watts). I did my own independent calculation a different wa...

hat do you think of my idea to use "thermal compound" in order to "connect" the motor to the housing? I am thinking that this may transport the heat to the case and then additionally one could add some heat pipe or so outside....this could increase the operational range for the motor. Thermal cream...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

For Case 1, we should go with KT-LCD7. I think that making motor work with standard, unmodified XH18 should be a priority.
