Re: 29" e-bike for commuting - rear hub motor or TSDZ2 ?

I have a TSDZ2 mid drive MTB with Nuvinci rear hub and Gtech hub drive ebike as well. They are like chalk and cheese really, use the Gtech for my commute to work, nice and smooth single gear plodder. The TSDZ2 is quicker and more involving to ride but you have to be up and down the gears (not recomm...

Nice clean install there!. Looks very similar to my build.

I run a TSDZ2 with Nuvinci 360 and it really is an excellent hub, really smooth shifting.

Microsofts whole file system is a bodge over another bodge, the put a shiny skin over the top but it's just polishing a turd!. Anyone remember the Amiga 500?, they managed a perfectly usable Workbench (WIMP), that could run word prcessors, paint programs, music programs etc all on 512kb!. Windows ea...

Re: When Windows 7 is dead in 2020 what OS will you migrate to??

I despise Windows, the way it wastes resources is just unbelievable.

Unfortunately I am forced into using it due to the programs we use at work, and for tuning my cars.

Windows 10 is a nightmare.

There's capacitors in the TSDZ2 that are rated at 60v (poss 63v) from what I've read recently.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I bought the one I linked to from that site and it had all 6 wires in it. To be clear, you're buying it basically for its connectors -- one male, one female. You'll use one to make a programming cable, and one to solder onto the KT-LCD3 (no need if you're using the VLCD5 obviously). Yep, will be ha...

Yep the Nuvinci is a great smooth hub, I back off the pedals when changing ratios. Great news that VLCD5 display is supported with computer to allow settings changes, will buy a programmer!. Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Just finished my 36v 15ah TSDZ2 project (Nuvinci 360 rear hub). Going to put a few miles on it in standard form and see how it goes. Read all 160+ pages and very interested in trying out the new firmware, will be deciding on which display to go for. Shame you can't use a PC to program the motor and ...

Been a loooong time but finally finished and rode my project tonight!. The TSDZ2 is an excellent mid drive motor and the Nuvinci is seamless when changing gear, excellent combination!. Need to do some shakedown miles now, might ride it to work tomorrow!. Don't know why my pics have disappeared in 1s...

Re: MID drive and Gates Carbon Drive

Gates do a big manual for their carbon drive giving all the dimensions for different frame setups (to give you an idea). Basically you would have to measure where the front crank pulley was and make sure it ends up in exactly the same place after the mid drive conversion, they are not tollerent to a...

A few bikes run ASR (Anti Skid Regulation) but this is to modulate power to the rear wheel, I don't believe this would prevent the front wheel "washing out" either.

Gates Carbon Drive uses toothed pulleys and belt (I have it on my Gtech and it's a great system!). If it calibrates the torque sensor at power-on then that would explain why it doesn't work if you turn it on while cycling, or if could deem wheel speed faulty (should be zero on power-on)..

Re: PAS design/ pedelecs design / control question

Both my bikes are PAS only and I wouldn't contemplate a throttle on either. The Gtech is crank movement sensor, 1/8th to 1/4 turn to set off and hub motor stops as soon as you stop pedalling. My Carrera with TSDZ2 is torque sensing, the harder to push the pedal the more assistance you get. Both are ...

Re: Lots of Stop Signs, traffic...

My commute is 3miles each way, stop/ start.

I bought a Gtech single speed hub drive. It's perfect for the job and silent in operation.

Does 18mph with me pedalling but to be honest my avarage is around 13mph on a morning due to traffic.
