Re: Another Stealth bomber (clone) build

I think there is little talk on the mobipus controllers, because the manufacturer had stopped selling them to retailers and wanted to do OEM only. I guess they are selling them again. Not sure when they changed their minds. Edit: Seems in March of this year they decided to starting selling them to c...

Re: 15+kw hub motor?

Ill most likely be running 30s so 126 volt at full charge if my math doesnt suck too much. I know qs205 got many choices for wiring turns. Was just wondering if there was something "better". i know theres cromotor that seems to be very similar too. I got a crystalyte atm but they dont seem to make ...

Re: 15+kw hub motor?

You can supposedly hit 20kW (max) with a QS205 and hubsinks+statorade.

What will your pack voltage be though? The max voltage will determine the top speed.

Looking similar to the one I'm building, my headlight even looks similar.

I have a different frame though.

Looks good!

If you are willing to spend the money, Tattu makes amazing LiPo batteries. You can pick them up from GetFPV.com.

Re: High balance current BMS please help

How much are you willing to spend? The BMS24T is a pretty badass system, but you need to buy a bunch of accessory items, like contactors, to use it. It can do 1.2A/cell.

It's about $330USD, that includes shipping.

Enduro frame builders, how do you waterproof the holes you drill in the frame?

All the previous frames I've used, typically came with pre-cut holes and grommets, going into the battery box area. My new frame has no holes, and I need to figure out a way to best insulated the interior battery area. I was thinking of using cable glands, maybe rubber grommets again. But I figured ...

It's just 2 18650s put in parallel, is it not? I don't see the point.

Re: How do I set up a relay for BMS to turn positive pack voltage off

The BMS I have uses an external shunt for total current measurement to/from the battery pack (on the negative), individual cell voltage measurements, as well as 2 relay control outputs for charging, and discharging. Amongst other features (like an audible alarm). So for discharging, when it detects ...

Re: How to correctly estimate range and maximum power

Check out the Trip Simulator over on Grin Techs (ebikes.ca) website. Get the specs as close as possible to what bike you have.

For input type, you can change it to Google Maps, and then plan out a route, and it will show you how much power you will use on that route.

Re: Spot welding fuses to individual 18650 cells?

That isn't exactly how it works. Adding resistors in parallel isn't actually lowering the resistance, it's adding another path for the current. If you have a 5V source running through a 1Ohm resistor, the current through the resistor is 5A. If you add a 2nd 1Ohm resistor in parallel, you now have 2...

Re: Spot welding fuses to individual 18650 cells?

Thanks for the response. I am very curious about this. The solder I use has a 60/40 Tin/Lead ratio (see link below). Since both tin and lead have higher resistance than copper, how can the addition of this solder actually decrease the resistance of the bus bars? I certainly hope your comment is tru...

I have only seen 20700 4250mAh 15A Sanyo-Panasonic, and 21700 4800mAh 10A Samsung though. That is, in terms of batteries I trust. There are lots of rebranded ones out there, like EFAN and EFest, which never turn out as good as they are branded. You can get those 21700 and 20700 batteries from nkon.n...

Anyone know where to get the Sempu T4 model in different BB widths? From their website, they offer a version with for 100mm BB, so it will fit on fat bike frames with a 100mm BB. But I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Re: Is there a max voltage you can feed a Li-Ion pack while charging?

Most BMS balances at the end or top of charge to and during HVC. And it has LVC when first of the goes to low. Yes just one. Do not run your battery too low voltage cutoff as a rule Yes, this BMS says it can balance during charging or discharging, which I assume to mean charge mode or discharge mod...

Re: Is there a max voltage you can feed a Li-Ion pack while charging?

No, and then even more no. the BMS is NOT a part of the charger, it is a PROTECTION system that does nothing until things go out of spec. that means it will trigger only when damage is already happening. it is the job of the charger to stay within the spec of the battery you are connecting it to. a...

Re: Is there a max voltage you can feed a Li-Ion pack while charging?

So is doing it this way going to end up in burning down the house? That depends on how much excess voltage your charger can supply to the pack when the BMS fails to stop it from doing so, and how unbalanced the pack happens to be at that time. If circumstances conspire to allow a cell or cells to o...

Re: Is there a max voltage you can feed a Li-Ion pack while charging?

The BMS is a part of the "charger". There is no specific charger, there is a power supply connected to the battery pack via a bms controlled contactor on the positive, and a shunt on the negative for current measuring by the BMS, as well as all the individual cell wires going from the pack to the B...

Re: Is there a max voltage you can feed a Li-Ion pack while charging?

you can set the voltage to 7000 volt if you wanted to. the voltage will simply not rise to that voltage as the charger is in constant current mode and the voltage is basically capped to control the amps to the set limit. but as you reach 4.2V the charger simply does not stop the constant current mo...

Re: Is there a max voltage you can feed a Li-Ion pack while charging?

Playing with fire. Yes you cab but you can not ever be able to pull the plug in time very often. As the charging curve to capacity to voltage will overwhelm you and fire will happen. Trust the bms for cutoff why ? Just get a series of meanwells or a bms charger if you want to roll the dice. What's ...
