Re: controller for a MAC

Final update: I bought another Phaserunner and I'll live with the 96A phase current limit (soft start). It is compact, versatile, easy to use, and powerful enough for small builds. Now I'll have some time to think about building my Lebowski's controller or try adapting VESC ones for future updates. ...

ebrake HWBS and throttle connection

Hi all, for my next build, I plan not to use a cycle analyst, but a simple throttle connected to the controller (phaserunner). However, in case water gets in my cheap throttle (or any other stupid thing) I'd like to integrate a HWBS sensor on my brakes (as an extra safety to fault voltage detection ...

VESC for ebike ?

Hello all, I have been looking around for the perfect controller and I am more and more interested about VESC project. The 'only' problem is to switch it from skateboard power levels to something more adapted for ebike use. I LOVE Marcos project and other members using IGBTs etc, but it's way overki...

Re: controller for a MAC

Check with Vad at powervolicity.https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89673 Ask him how it will turn your mac. PV is not FOC and does not have torque/current throttle. This is why it has been excluded from comparison list, but it still looks like a nice and affordable controller. P...

Re: controller for a MAC

Thank you for your feedback Izeman, that lebowski idea is making its way. Love the smd version of the PCB also. As lazy as I am, I wish somebody will start providing kits for it (or assembled ones like it happened for VESC). For this build I will need something that requires less assembling time. I ...

Re: ASI Acclerated Systems controllers BAC2000 review

Wow thanks for the feedback ElectricGod. I also noticed the (available) documentation does look sparse (eg. couldn't find how cruise control is supposed to be setup but it looks like there is an input for that). One surprising thing is that you cannot access documentation before being a customer (wh...

Re: controller for a MAC

Hello Lebowski, thank you for the suggestion. I read threads about your controller and this is definitely something I would like to support and try... Great job BTW :) Your controller seems like the ideal one but I will need something more plug and play for this build. I know some basic electronics ...

Re: controller for a MAC

After sending more emails, no answer from Sabvoton but their distributor "QS Motor" kindly answered my question.

He confirmed that Sabvoton SSC 72150 is limited to 30000erpm.
In conclusion the sabvoton will not work for this configuration with a mac motor.

Re: controller for a MAC

I take advantage of this thread to look for the perfect controller for my next ebike (Mac Motor 8T, 14s 30A 18650 battery). My first ebike has a phaserunner controller which works perfectly with the same motor, but I would like to get something a bit more punchy when starting (96 phase Amp limit). O...

Re: controller for a MAC

Just an update regarding my previous answer, Kelly controller is probably NOT a good option for MAC motors. First, I was about to buy a sabvoton and realized the max erpm might not be enough (30000 ? to be confirmed) so I read the 20 pages about kelly FOC controllers because they claimed 70000erpm. ...

Re: Sabvoton 72150 for geared mac motor ?

Update: no news from sabvoton yet but found this document (from qsmotor) apparently referring to SSC controllers and stating 30000erpm... Not sure how reliable it is though. http://www.cnqsmotor.com/upfile/2016/04/20160427204822_414.pdf 30000erpm is ~45kmh max... BTW when the limiting factor for spe...

Re: controller for a MAC

Hi ! Just a +1 to what has been said about the Phaserunner. Works great with MAC, I had to put phase current limit to near max (96A) to get decent push when starting but then it's a breeze. Also had to tune kp ki parameters (don't forget to put 0 in rad before that) in order to avoid overcurrent pro...

Re: Sabvoton 72150 for geared mac motor ?

Ok I tried to read as much posts as possible on these controllers. Couldn't find this information on kathy's posts, just found a reference to erpm here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=62240&hilit=sabvoton&start=50#p944624 . However it's a 2014 post talking about the first desi...

Re: Sabvoton 72150 for geared mac motor ?

Thank you, you are right. 50000 is actually conservative for my use as with the phaserunner @ 14S I get 60km/h and the wheel circumference is roughly 2 meters (60000mhour/2m/60min*80poles=~40000erpm). I don't plan going faster anyway. Problem is that I can't find the sabvoton limit on any documentat...

Sabvoton 72150 for geared mac motor ?

Hello all, I previously built a nice ebike using phaserunner and mac 8T motor. Very happy with it but for a second build I am planning to get another mac motor 8T with a different controller. After a lot of reading on the forum I am willing to order a sabvoton 72150 controller (probably overkill for...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Not really. A public interface was never in the cards for present incarnations of the CA. That said, it is clear that: live data is continuously streamed from the TTL port (see: "5.11 Serial Data Port" of the Guide), the PC Setup Utility can manipulate all (actually more) settings that are availabl...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Like this one? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=59893 Wow that is genius ! Imagine if a future CA firmware allows it to be controlled through basic commands on the TTL port. The app could become the main interface, then you have countless options for stealth mounting, data logging etc... while keeping all great...

Thank you teklektik, I'll go for an aux potentiometer on my wife's ebike. Thank you teklektik, your suggestion is indeed a great workaround ! Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

However my wife complained that cruise control keeps increasing speed while she would need a constant speed. This seems in...

with 18650s i only go down to 3.3v ( you can normally see the obvious point on a discharge graph) and up to 4.1v to get the highest cycle life vs capacity from them keep the charge rate low when you can ( 1/4c when you have 4h and no more than 1c when you need a faster charge ) Thank you for your a...

Re: Selecting cells for assembly (parallel groups)

Another question, what is considered the reasonable threshold (in volts) for charge/discharge in order to maximize the number of cycles. I know everyone has his own recipe but I heard a lot about discharging no more than 20% and charging no more than 80% (except during balancing or occasionally). C...
