Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Cracked it! It is the Option Byte that needs to be changed back as well. After a lot of messing around swapping between the OEM setup and the Opensource I discovered that the open source firmware changes a couple of lines in the Option Byte even if you only select programme current tab. Nice work! ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

HI! I have the coaster version of the Tongsheng TSDZ2 and gets a kick from the cranks when releasing torque too fast. It seems that this is because the controller/firmware is for the non-coaster version. Right? What to do? Can I flash the controller to the "coaster-version-firmware" or can I solve ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Nuvinci stepless IGH are perfect for mid-drives like the TSDZ2. Keep an eye out for the new N380x It is rated for 500W but early literature said it was designed for bursts of 1000W which puts it up in the BBSHD category. Fallbrook Tech went bankrupt in 2017 but rebranded as Enviolo. The N380x is fou...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The VLCD5 has a setup screen for amps. It doesn't actually do anything. People have wasted more time screwing around with it and trying to feel a difference. Shame on TongSheng. I assume the VLCD6 is the same. If you get it in the Power Select mode I doubt it actually does anything. No, it work .. ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Some motors are louder than others. The open source firmware in my experience is nominally quieter and more efficient. I wish I knew what the variable was so I could try to make mine quieter. I'm going to need a lot more than a nominal improvement to get it down to what I'd like (I'm used to a BBS0...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My first impression is holy hell it's even louder than I feared it would be after reading this thread. ... My second impression is that it feels a little hamstrung on the steepest hills (15% - 20% grade). I think the problem might be that maybe it's locked into the default 250W mode. I wasn't able ...

Here is the final design (I hope): https://i.postimg.cc/SQDvXdz0/Bafang-850-C-color-LCD-design.png - break and lights symbol (not show on the image) should appear at top, in the middle - the four fields at the middle can be customized: the data to be shown at each filed can be one of the many varia...

Thancks marcoq for your contribution ... Firmware tested with VLCD5 and seem to work fine . ... Thank you elem for your contribution! :D This is awesome news. It means existing TSDZ2 conversions can be upgraded by just unplugging the Speedo sensor and flashing the controller. The LCD3 and 850C disp...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

The LCD model research phase already ended for me -- I had in consideration opinion of others, like professionals that had being selling ebikes with Bafang motors. Since unfortunately I am being almost alone in development, I guess we will stick with the 850C model. If there were other developers h...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

If you'd like the VLCD6 to display mph, simply take the circumference values listed in the manual and multiply them by 0.62. If you want to set the speed limit to 45km/h hold down the power and + button for 10 seconds. Clever idea to get mph mossboss! I can't believe I didn't think of that! Has the...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The biggest difference was power. When I switched from a VLCD-5 to a VLCD-6 on one of my bikes ( 48V, 750watt ) power was limited to 300w and speed was limited to 25kph . Changing the data memory ( as outlined by Eyebyesicle ) had no effect. Changing to the 52v ( "stock" ) firmware ( as supplied by...

In the spirit of "keep it simple ... ", I think 3 buttons is perfect. I wrote this earlier: "Regarding needing more buttons. I have used both and find 3 buttons is fine. You can do everything just as easily with 3 buttons using long and short presses of the 3. Long press on + button is headlight and...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Just think about a short press for light und a short press for walk assist. There are more possible 2-Button Combinations. Offroad mode could be even a little stealthier. And a good way to overcome your 200 Clicks "change the battery"-setup (One Key as digit modifier during the setup). This would b...

DIY EX1 to adjust chainline I've been using a Sunrace 11-42 10 speed cassette with the standard 42t chainring supplied with the TSDZ2. Chainline in first gear is not great but it works. However, the gearing is still too high for serious MTB use or towing a trailer offroad (I do a lot of wild campin...

Just a question, I currently have a 36V TSDZ2 with custom firmware up and running great for Two years now. I'm planning to make a second ebike with the same motor, but should i go with 36V or 48V motor… to put it simple (from my understanding, of course): the drawback of 48V is that your battery wi...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Option 4. I have used then all except Luna. When viewed at home on a computer screen 4 looks the worst but on a moving bike it is the one that is easiest to see and quickly digest the information. That model comes with both a digital which is the mode shown or an analogue graphical display (same as...
