Re: Removing/locking the freewheel in an internally geared hub?

I think the effigear freewheel is built into one of the axles as they have a fixed rear hub: https://www.effigear.com/functioning Kervelo I am not so sure: https://www.kervelo.com/quartz/ Kindernay claim to have a special large clutch - might be worth looking into in case it is somehow different in ...

Re: Diy battery. CASE on/off switch, how to connect?

Is there any way to have the power switch also disconnect the BMS (which I presume draws power from the battery) e.g. a relay that could break multiple of the flat cable/series wires?

Very many thanks for taking the time to write this out, the seamless transition part is particularly exciting and sounds great for keeping it as non-distracting and bicycle like as possible.

Re: Electrom1 Long Wheelbase Recumbent Light Electric Vehicle

Thanks very much for taking the time to share these videos - are you able to share more on the gear ratios from the pedals to the generator and pedals to the rear hub? It would also be great to know more about the transfer of rider power from going to the rear wheel when starting, to then shifting t...

I have one of these - cheap, shaped beam, claims up to 60v: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33030764871.html so far only used at 5v for a scooter, but will test at higher voltage if you like?

Re: Grin Base/PhaseRunner without Cycle Analyst

I would be interested in a 'pre controller' that worked with common torque/cadence sensing bottom brackets and converted it straight to a throttle signal for use with a baserunner/phaserunner without needing a CA. Bonus points if it did regen based on pedalling backwards etc. Maybe we could pool our...

Next light up in their range is up to 60v, 150 lux, and with beam cutoff but expensive (although with deals can find down to €90 sometimes): https://www.bumm.de/en/products/e-bike- ... s7-01.html?

Re: leaning trike cargo bike front end kit

Hi Hodola, This sounds promising. Are you able to summarise: 1. Approximate price and likely timeline 2. Confirm specs e.g. track width, turning angle, headtube diameter, if including hubs/wheels, damper etc, materials, paint, weight? 3. Remind me how this improves on the options from B&B, Veleo...

Re: Fast Ebike for a tough commute

How about a Yuba sweet curry (https://yubabikes.com/cargobikestore/sweet-curry) with a GMAC motor (https://www.ebikes.ca/product-info/gmac.html) - lots of battery space, stability, passengers (maybe), regen, still able to peddle it, but fully customisable for higher power, use a torque sensing botto...

Re: Sturmey Archer IGH with cassette and mid drives

The seem to be recommending a minimum gear ration of 1.27, see: https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-CASG002-01-ENG.pdf maybe if you compare that to their recommendation for other hubs it might give some hint as to how much stronger they feel it is e.g. for an Alfine 8 it suggests between 2 and 2.25: h...

Bengal Helix 7.5 dual disc - 2 calipers - 1 lever

Hi, For sale is an unused set of Bengal Helix 7.5 dual disc brakes including splitter, new pads etc. The calipers are opposing so that if using twin front brakes the second one doesn't interfere with the spokes. Also good for trikes. See here for full details: http://www.bengalperformance.com.tw/hyd...

Then again you can get greater than 550% range on a 1x these days, maybe that just keeps it all simpler! https://www.pinkbike.com/news/review-ethirteen-trs-12-speed-cassette-offers-a-whopping-556-range.html I prefer the Box 2, 9 speed cassette for Ebikes, it is cheaper and packs one less gear into ...

Re: Sturmey Archer IGH with cassette and mid drives

Yes, a wider spaced 5 speed hub would be great! It really seems not popular as even something like the Pinion C6 has less than 300% range I think - I guess people worry about big jumps between gears a lot. In terms of strength, I have also put a fair few (3,500km) of hard loaded (200kg) tandem miles...
