Re: My Performance Chinese E-Scooter

Thanks for advice. Where do you measure temperture from? I hear people say measure at the axle if your controller does not have a temp probe inside of it. I measure mine on the phase wire where the motor connects to the controller. Probably too far from the motor to get an accurate reading of any ki...

Re: 9c Hub Motor Temperature Limits

If you're limited to measuring temp from the outside using a sensor, the place to do it would be the motor axle. Though somewhat slow due to the long pathway, it does have a direct heat path through metal from the copper windings all the way to the axle ends. I never thought of that next time I rid...

Re: 9c Hub Motor Temperature Limits

I find I have little to zero problems if I keep a motor's temperature under 200F, measured inside, 150f measured outside. Those are the limits I shoot for when reliability is needed. Hey where do you have your probe mounted externally? Would a non contact IR type be a good idea attached to the swin...

Re: My Performance Chinese E-Scooter

What diameter is your hub motor on your scooter/moped? Mine is 8” on 10” wheel. I can only run 7kw for 15 minutes before the phase wires are heat to 60 celcius. Im thinking of some 0w oil in there or maybe glue on some ugly heat sinks as a last resort. I can achieve 80kph @67v with flux weakening. I...

Re: Seal hub with silicone?

@ Dui I’ll look for some grade 12.9 m4 bolts and seal it with silicone. I was amazed when I opened it and there was no rust after 10 years with frequent rain riding. Btw I posted a question to your moped thread.

Re: Seal hub with silicone?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm worried about the silicone being too weak. There is a lot of sheer force going through eighteen 1/8" screws. Is there a strong glue for this purpose? Silicon is pretty soft. Something between silicon and jbweld would be perfect.

Just left scorgforge looking for the apk. Now I know it needs to be manually compiled. So you've both managed to edit and upload a profile? Can you download one too? I really could use this. Please apk and bluetooth tutorial. Id pay for the effort to avoid forehead surgery, and furniture replacement...

Re: Xingyue X1/SeeyesDMB09A moped LiFePo4 pack build

I would recommend keeping an eye out for Chevy Volt cells. Zero cells are awesome, too, but rare. "Salvaged EV cells index, Leaf, Volt, Tesla, etc" https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=89680 Went with your advice and got a 2016 chevy volt gen 2 16s pack. Its been rel...

Eee291 Did you disassemble the pack yourself? If so how did you keep the tabs fully intact? Thanks.

Re: Throttle dead zone fixes

Another simple solution is to open the throttle and glue some rubber stopper on the return stop ledge. Takes some testing with the wheel in the air. Ive been running it two years with no issues. Ive also adjusted the magnet positions inside for less throttle twist range. Avoid the $5 throttle. The m...

Re: Chevy Volt Gen2 Batteries Los Angeles

Thread closed: bought a 2016 module from ebay. $16 per cell including shipping.

Advice: if you see a good deal or on carpart get it. I lost my chance. Packs are scarce now. Some were $10 per cell. One had only 5000 miles on it.

Re: Recent buy Chevy Volt battery module concerns

I plan to replace the threaded rods holding it together and add a handle at which point I'll inspect the pouches. How thick should the cells be? As far as condition, I just received the module so I have no real idea. The only thing i know is that it was from a 2016 Volt with 26k miles. I am trying t...

Re: Recent buy Chevy Volt battery module concerns

Attached. Bulge is 4.3mm/.17" on side in photos and 2.4mm/.09" on the other side. I think it needs more compression. When they are assembled together in the Volt pack the middle modules compress against each other. This must be one of those middle modules. Should I add thick insulated plat...

Recent buy Chevy Volt battery module concerns

Do the gen 2 Chevy Volt modules have a natural bulge to them on the ends? or is this a sign of internal damage? Just recieved a module and would like to test it, but don’t want to risk possible further damage if the cells inside are compromised. Seller claimed 24k mikes on the car. Voltages were 3.9...

Re: Chevy Volt 2016 or newer modules or cells

They use LG chem pouch. They are automotive grade so they need to maintain at least 70% for 100,000 mile warranty. Originally I wanted to use the leaf cells but they were too big.

Re: Chevy Volt 2016 or newer modules or cells

Brief info on these cells for those that dont know. There are 192 cells in these gen 2 packs. Rated at 25ah. Each 2p is at 430amps peak. Or a conservative 215a each cell ~10c. @$2000 per pack each cell is $10. Official GM chevy volt info here: https://media.gm.com/content/dam/Media/microsites/produc...
