Isn't that just a hydraulic road lever? The term "communication" I don't think specifically refers to any form of electronic communication, rather communication via hydraulic fluid.

Another thru-axle hub motor

Not sure on the specifics of how it avoids rotation, but they mention a torque arm. But interesting to see a thru-axle hub on the market! But 135mm spacing is odd, because I don't think that would work with many thru-axle MTBs, which have wider spacing? http://www.electricbicycleworld.com/750-thru-a...

Looks neat. I am waiting for a thru-axle hub of some sort. How does this hub mount up? I see no threaded axle...

Re: Carbon fiber hub motors?

Okay...for the sake of argument (because this is the internet, after all), who makes the nicest 250W-350W hubs at this point? Either front or rear, doesn't matter.

Re: Carbon fiber hub motors?

Understood. Kind of like how the battery is 95% cells and only a small amount of ancillary material. So, how does a mid-drive, by comparison, hope to continue its weight shedding? Is it just a smaller motor with more gears and reduction? And does that eliminate a bulk of the weight because you're tr...

Re: Carbon fiber hub motors?

There is a hub that is made with some special ceramic stator and composite shell. I don't believe it is available yet but it should be soon. A French company that I can't remember the name is doing some tests with it. Nevertheless, your requirements are out of hub builds and I agree that a friction...

Carbon fiber hub motors?

I recently mounted up a Q100C CST eBike system to a mid-level aluminum road frame. It's pretty nice, and the amount of assist is pretty good in that I get a workout but more easily hit a 20mph cruising speed. Maybe a 328-series would have been better (I got the 201 rpm motor) but I can always change...

Re: Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

Thanks for the advice. So you would have gotten the 328rpm version because you want a higher top end speed?

Re: Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

Go to the simulator: http://www.ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html and choose the Q100 328rpm. you can simulate the slower rpm versions in a 700c wheel: entering a 20" wheel to simulate 260 rpm in a 700c wheel entering a 16" wheel to simulate 201 rpm in a 700c wheel BMS mentions 201rpm on their site. Re: Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

Just my opinion,, but if you will now be riding 25mph or more all the time in a city,, you need to learn to ride sitting up a bit more, looking out for those cars that think you are going only 15 mph. Put some straight bars on your favorite bike. There is a reason those urban fixie bikes have the d...

Re: Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

Oh man, I am definitely aware of the Vivax system. What with all the hoopla in UCI racing. So, it's definitely a contender I guess. But I don't know how to try it out in the US, unfortunately. I have seen some Youtube videos which kind of suggest it's not so amazing. I would definitely like a button...

Re: Rode a Trek Lift+ ebike, very nice

I think it is only a matter of a few years before the OTS (off the shelf) eBike world and hobbyist eBike world come together in a beneficial way for most people. Yes, OTS is out of many person's price range at this point. But building your own is also too hard for many (let's be serious, here). So.....

Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

Hey all! I'm very much a road biker, drop bars and spandex and all that ridiculous stuff. My question is if there are any good, performance oriented eBikes out there that have drop bars, road bike geometry (a little more leaned over and stretched out), and maybe tend to be lighter than a usual hefty...
