Re: Custom made #219 pitch sprockets?

Hi, I recently had this problem when building up a go kart to test a few motors on. Usually I'd make, or get made a sprocket (machining, wire cutting etc) but this can be expensive. As I wanted to test two motors and use #219 pitch with 20t and 30t on the motor the number of combinations would be co...

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive Scooter (she'll be quick I hope)

Hi! In my opinion it is far better to go with a wired throttle as you don't need the extra receiver and batteries etc... yes, the cable can be 1 meter but it doesn't matter. I have used a thumb throttle and the cable was like 1.5m long so it's been cut down a little bit. The folding stem is from a 2...

Re: Goped ESR upgrade - TURNIGY 6374 build

Hi! Have a look at my build here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=84487 I used a lower KV motor and 12S. I have geared 5:1 and can get 24.3mph reliably. I designed it to do 25mph so i'm pleased. I'm not sure how you are getting on with gearing and speed but i have overcome a f...

Re: Throttle Problem 1-4v hall to PWM - Solved

As I mentioned in my main scooter build - I have solved my throttle interface problem. Here is the thing I have ended up with, it is Arduino nano based and has a rotary POT which is set to alter the maximum servo angle PWM output. it is really useful when letting someone have a go and slowly build u...

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive Scooter (she'll be quick I hope)

Yeah, it is properly fast acceleration. I'm very pleased with the power of such a small motor. Thanks for all of the positive feedback about the build. I need to finish it off by enclosing the lower portion (hopefully as neat as Beetbock's creations!) then I'll look at making another. I have actuall...

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive Scooter (she'll be quick I hope)

I have fixed my throttle interface problem by making an Arduino interface. It's been a good learning project and definitely something I'll be using with a VESC in the future. Anyway, I wanted to post a video of the scooter at top speed. Thanks to the interface it is now completely rideable. It turne...

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive Scooter (she'll be quick I hope)

"I have noticed that 100% of the power is applied at about 50% of the available thumb throttle travel. I would like to know how to make the physical movement of the throttle equal a 1:1 application of power?" For my electric longboard transmitter I had the same problem. The solution to solder a 10k...

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive Scooter (she'll be quick I hope)

Yes, I've got a go-ped front calliper brake coming from the US. I'll add it to the front wheel so at leat I have some control! Ive been using it every day going to and from the carpark at work, it's about 1km from where I park to the office and it's pretty comfy to ride. however it does need to be a...

Re: Throttle Problem 1-4v hall to PWM

My background is mechanical engineering. This project is to broaden my electrical knowledge (motor sizing and control etc) I have an arduino to play with so I'll get to it! Should be simple as you say - however I'll be learning as I go!

Re: Throttle Problem 1-4v hall to PWM

I've come to the conclusion that the interface chip isn't working correctly. Seemingly is uses 2v as 100% output. The throttle outputs 1-4v correctly and the ESC works correctly when connected to a RC car receiver. I have told alien power systems that's where the problem is - let's see what they say...

Re: Throttle Problem 1-4v hall to PWM

Yes, Linear is far easier to ride. I have asked Alien Power Systems about the issue but Bruno apparently can't help me - a little frustrating! Thanks for your help, I wonder if there is a problem with the ESC not being able to identify the range of the input because it is hard-wired? usually you cyc...

Re: Improving a scooters aero dynamics.

The only real way to do it is to crouch down, the majority of drag comes from frontal area so if you reduce that then you'll reduce drag.
You'd have to be a brave man though to do that and belt your scooter along!

Re: Throttle Problem 1-4v hall to PWM

Hi, I am currently using 'Linear', however I have tried using 'Logarithmic' but I still only had 50% of the thumb throttle travel available. The firmware for the ESC is actually called 'CAR 12S'. Do you know what these settings are for: FORWARD POINT:Auto、fixed 1.0mS、fixed 1.1mS、fixed 1.2mS、fixed 1....

Throttle Problem 1-4v hall to PWM

Hi All, I was hoping that someone could shed some light on to a problem I'm having with my throttle. My throttle set up is this: Throttle: http://alienpowersystem.com/shop/electric-throttle/electric-thumb-throttle-1-4v-hall-effect/ PWM Chip: http://alienpowersystem.com/shop/rc-ev-accessories/electro...

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive Scooter (she'll be quick I hope)

I've been welding and assembling over the past few days. So excited this morning to have a play, I quickly discovered that it has a tendency to wheelie even just on 6S (not tried 12S yet) Either i'm a bit of a pussy or just need to get used to riding it. The geometry is a bit strange, the handle bar...

Re: Can´t conntect alienpowersystem esc to pc

Hi, I think I bought the same ESC as you (120amp JET 12S OPTO) and I definitely didn't connect the battery first - like the instructions. I didn't have an issue with the connection. It took me a while to get the correct serial driver I think, however you seem to have that working from your screen sh...
