Don't bother, get yourself ACS Crossfire freewheel.
You need a bearing puller to get current one off with it's bushing to gearbox shaft. Getting freewheel off the bushing is trickier but you'd need to do it any case.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
No suspension, high tire pressure and heavy bike (about 35kg: 15kg bicycle, 5kg motor+controller, 15kg battery). Oh, and high speed and bad roads.jonnydrive wrote: ↑Apr 12, 2018 1:38 amWhat do you think it is the cause of the broken? The low quality of the components, the absence of a rear suspension or something else?

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
I have a hardtail, about 1400km since conversion (250-300km in winter). I wish I had full suspension, even when riding only streets.
During winter I broke rear axle riding local forest biking/skiing/jogging trail - which had quite smooth, worked up surface.

Re: Converting a Cyclone 3000watt PLANETARY GEAR BOX mid-drive motor to side mount
If not suppose I put a 24T sprocket on the motor shaft and then that connect to the 14T sprocket on the bicycle hub would that affect my torque capability to go up hills drastically? You would have about 1,7 times less torque than in 14/14 setup. I know that sizing is for speed and I am wondering i...

Re: Converting a Cyclone 3000watt PLANETARY GEAR BOX mid-drive motor to side mount
Mounted as seen on picture, it will stick out nearly 150mm to one side. That "side mount" would be doable with less protrusion if motor sits above rear wheel, well behind seatpost to clear rear frame arm. Making mounts to withstand the motor torque is a challenge as the motor will sit too far away f...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
yep, mee too, the chain without the standard front derailleur jumps sideways, but with two front chainring it is difficult to build a good chain tensioner because the chain needs to move up and down and left and ride to follow the gearings . I built a handmade prototype version, testing will came s...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Great work with the mount! Nearing the motor to the crack requires to pay attention to two things: do not make the engine the lowest thing after the bike wheels (like the bafang) hitting a rocks with the motor may damage it limiting the chainring size I would append to this list: driving sprocket (c...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Thanks. At the front/lower corner is M10 hole for tensioner swingarm. CAD picture has swingarm covering that hole. 3x M6 holes for (future) chain guard. At the bottom, 2x counterbored holes (for M8) on both sides for support block connecting both mounts together, reinforcing against lateral forces. ...

New motor mounts
I got fed up with motor chain tensioner, so I designed my own. With new motor mounts to install one. CAD: Cyclone assembly.JPG Mounts designed around 150x10mm 6063 aluminum bar As you can see from cad, left side mount cuts into motor shell. Well, it's supposed to: 20180325_105737.jpg Mounts complete...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board
Thanks for helping to clear that.
Now another one - seems like the price difference between ordering one and ten PCB's can be up to five times.
So reasonable would be to cooperate (maybe even with parts). Anyone interested in taking this on?

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board
Any suggestions for replacing, it's out of Digikey stock:
supply cap 270uF 3 565-4018-ND ?
Is ripple current important or are the basic parameters enough (capacitance, voltage and dimensions)?
BTW, ACS770-150B is pretty hard to find from other shops (Digikey stocks 2+k)

I thought we were talking about stock ("new style") cyclone mounts.DingusMcGee wrote: ↑Feb 06, 2018 8:22 amTo begin with the above assertion by minimum is false. Thru bolts do add stiffness to the floppy hinge setup in which the motor is fastened to the motor frame side plates.
On your mounts the difference is obvious.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Left side (that thin bent one) mount needs to be between two nuts (large thin toothed one) on BB. I used one from my old BB that came off when installing Cyclone. That way you can control how far the mount sits on BB and keep it flexing under load. In theory it controls angle between motor and BB ax...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Thank you for the prompt response. I will try to add spacers at point 1.the alignmrnt is straight. I think I will stiffen the motor mount If sprocket and motor cog line up and it still throws off the chain then I can think of another 3 reasons: 1. Chain tensioner is not aligned or loose (laterally)...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Good way to check motor chain(-rings) alignment is with the chain off. Press ruler to the side of chainring and check whether there will be a cap between ruler and freewheel cog or between ruler and front edge of chainring. In first case, there's also possible to make small adjustments by releasing ...

Look for 3D printer parts stores - some bed heaters for printers are paper thin. 12 VDC version are most common, 24VDC less common and 240VAC are rare. They come with thermistor attached and should have some kind of additional regulation or it will cook your battery. https://www.robotdigg.com/produc...

Re: Using bicycle's frame as heatsink for the Phaserunner
Amec Thermalsol makes really "cool" flat heat pipes, originally intended for LED lights. They are really flat (from 1,2 up to 2,5mm), quite easily bendable and have ridiculously low Rth ( thermal resistance ). Farnell used to carry these for decent price but they seem to have discontinued and now a...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?
Usually for these controllers there's to-92 case voltage regulator which is capable of putting out up to 100mA.
Technically it is possible to replace it with to-220 one which are usually capable 1-1,5A with cooling.
