Re: GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Does anyone have the full motor specs to be able to put on the motor comparison spreadsheet ? Any info about this motor can be found here: https://www.cycmotor.com/x1-pro and will it run on a normal ebike controller ? Yes, people were doing this before the stock controller was released with the kit...

Raleigh Route | BBSHD | 14s7p 35E

The number of ebikes one should own is always n+1. And, a bike with no motor on it is just waiting for one. Plus, I needed to build an alternative to my hi-racer bacchetta, which was my cardio ebike for a while. Problem is, the speeds I like to ride at make regular bumps cause a fair amount of lower...

Some bumpy shaky video I took in the neighborhood. Got it up to 38mph, but I've seen 43 in other places, on only 2500w.

Re: Do you run across overly competitive/aggressive cyclists?

Yep, had a kitted guy riding a fat tire bike pulling 28mph with me, for a good quarter mile down the trail one day. Lol, that was some serious output, man. And I get the whole spectrum of sneers, blank faces, and people cracking up when I roll past them saying that I'm sorry for cheating. Around her...

Re: GNG / CYC X1 Pro 3000w

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how to change gears on mine without crunching.... I guess slow down pedaling enough so that the PAS stops? It is strange... Okay, I figured it out: Hook up the throttle, and when you want to change gears, you want to quickly push the throttle to WOT, then let of...

Re: What are some good 3000W hub motors for 26 inch rims?

On a torque control throttle wheelies will only come when you want them, and you can directly adjust torque without affecting peak power by modifying the phase current limit. That does actually sound like a better option than voltage control. You won't have to deathgrip the throttle when going over...

Re: What are some good 3000W hub motors for 26 inch rims?

First off, does that sweet mtb have a 9mm QR , or a 12x142 thru axle? A 9mm QR with vertical dropouts is what you need, using two torque arms on each side. Be careful of going big on the phase amps on a 3000w motor. The frame will not like it at all, unless you engineer clamping dropouts like this b...

You can find a 6T 35mm aluminum stator 1500w at WCEC. It has around a 7.7~8 Kv.

Re: Feedback and thoughts on my electrification plans please

I would also strongly recommend you investigate alternate suppliers for the battery. This is the most expensive and shortest-lived component, quality and reliability are paramount. Take a long, hard look and check out Em3EV , as well as others. +1 on EM3ev. I (will) have two of their 14s7p hardcase...

Re: Do you prefer freewheel or cassettte for your hub motor?

If I had a low powered hub motor, where I can use all of the gears on a multi-speed cluster, then I'd opt for a cassette version, if available. I fried the DNP 11-34T 7spd FW on my fast hub motor bike (impossible to pedal on human power). I replaced it with this 12T single speed offset freewheel , a...

Re: ebike laws with trike build

Oh dear, hahaha. I very gradually tested this bike in incremental steps before ever riding like that. If the road is too rough for a hardtail, then I shouldn't be going that fast anyways. It keeps me in check for the right reasons. Florida has the best road conditions in the whole nation. I know whe...

Re: Two identical batteries in parallel on the same bike

Awesome, thanks guys. It sounds like there won't be any issues if I keep them in parallel for all charge/discharge cycles. The BMS has a 12a charge current limit through the XT90 discharge port. And I don't see myself using one of the packs by itself after the upgrade. This should be interesting on ...

Re: ebike laws with trike build

I live in central florida. I have passed a cop at 50 mph in traffic on my 5kw mtb. He pulled up behind me in stopped traffic, and asked what endorsements I needed for the bike. This is the only cop in 12,000 miles of riding to ask me any questions. I told him, 'from what I understand, a valid driver...

Two identical batteries in parallel on the same bike

Someone asked a question about charging 2 batteries with one charger,. It prompted me to ask a similar question, but with other specifics. I can build bikes, but I'm a bit electro-dumb. I have the EM3ev 14s7p hardcase rectangle pack. It has ~70 cycles on it. Just bought a second one, exactly identic...

Re: Most reliable Mid drive motor kit?

Hmm, maybe look into the AFT cyclone 3000 kit ? They do a rather extensive rebuild, and redesign of just about everything. It's $$$$$ , but known for its high mileage abilities. They get away from the grease, in exchange for a super lightweight 0w oil with a very high molybdenum content, to help wit...

I live in Orlando, which is notoriously bad for cyclists, but it's coming around. It will be much better 10 years from now, with all of the bike lane extension plans that are in the works. Having possibly the worst reputation in the nation might have something to do with it! Ebikes are up and coming...

Re: If you could do something entrepreneurial in the EV industry, what would you do?

I would like to design and build an IGH 3,4, and/or 5 speed that can handle 5-7 kw. In addition to that, I think some kind of oversized, overbuilt version of the BBSHD that has external grease ports, hardened helical cut gears, and external programmable controller would be the bomb, that retains all...

Re: Were you a bicycle person before you got into E-bikes??

I am a fit cyclist who discovered ebikes 3 years ago. I started by commuting on my 40lb mtb in Redmond, WA, by riding to RHS which was only 1.2 miles away, back in 1998. After school, I would take off on a 30 mile adventure, just about every day, regardless of weather. Fast forward to 2003, I was fo...

I'm not the kinda guy who buys a huffy walmart bike. I am, however willing to accept one when it's given to me for free, in reasonable condition.
