Re: Yamaha YZF250F

That is just some pre production rendering that is on their website, it is not the same as the production motor. I am sure these are not renderings, but pictures (in low resolution and probably some cutting/mask) of the real thing. They are certainly not that good in making a surface reflecti...

Re: Yamaha YZF250F

Looking at the pictures they have on their website, it seems the problem was there already!

Re: Yamaha YZF250F

The middle section should have been flipped 180 degrees. To fix this the motor would have to be rewound. Is this for real?! I think you are right, they have flipped the finned case. If it was placed correctly there will be room for the bolts and the finned part would be in the right place. Good luc...

I think the motor are about the same size? The zero motor can probably handle more though. I also plan to push 40+ kW  Oh, sorry, I forgot you are going with the misterious QS180, I was thinking about the 138! Sure this setup should be easy capable ok 40+ kW peak and probably 20 kW continous,...

I slept on it, then I pushed the button. That led to that they had time to go on vacation, so it will take an extra week before I get it. I wonder if anyone is interested in my long rant about controller anxiety, but here it is for the interested to read :? I can relate! I went for a sevcon gen4 si...

Europe seems very expensive, I'm lucky living close to the USA. It's more complicated than that... I have been in the US many times in the last 15 years, but still amazed every time by the profound differences that I see. Sure the automotive market is a complete different animal for numbers, segmen...

How about Fiat 500e parts? I used to see lots of those things around here but not so many lately. I suspect they all failed. We don't have it here. That was a compliance car built in the US and sold only in California and Oregon. Fiat CEO Marchionne said he was loosing money (like 14000$) every car...

Got 200+2 cells for 990,79eur with postage for a 20s10p (2880w nominal)
Just less than 5 euro each cell, that makes almost 350 euros per kWh. Pretty expensive!

I was considering buying 300 Samsung INR21700-50G for 4 euros each. That would be less than 230 euros per kWh.

Buy a Gen3 Toyota Prius transmission for the princely sum of $75USD and remove the MG2 motor. Purchase a Chevy Volt inverter, prices start at $30 from US based Auto part dismantlers. They must be insanely popular there to have these prices! Prius here (Italy) were rare 10 years ago, and even more n...

Great bilt! Without the rear side panels/exhaust covers looks great, like it was meant to be electrified! Did you cut them or are they just bolted on? I am going with the same motor, and designed almost the same bracket as you, but for an older Husqvarna Te-250. Will your high discharge, but small, ...

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

OK how about "better" for long steep hills & heavy loads at low speeds. Very slow top speeds. Yes, exactly. It sure depends mostly on what use you want to make of it. More mass means slower to overheat in that context? I think you can say so, probably not much of a problem in most use...

Is a "higher" magnet always better, as in stronger more powerful?

Only downside being maybe heavier?
It's not "higher" it's just longer. It is not necessarly "better" than the shorter one that has a lighter rotor, less inertia, usually higher rpm, etc...

I've found high voltage cycles to be a different beast altogether since riding a zero srf. Worse than crack
Zero srf is not high voltage, just around 100V nominal (28S).

I wonder how sensitive the unit is to other mounting orientations, besides the increased difficulty in draining and re-filling the unit... You are right about the orientation. Are you thinking about using it with the transmission on the right? I am not 100% sure, but considering how the venting sys...

I had never heard of that term. They are pretty common here in Italy, they were originally intended to move around in the pit areas, but now some even race them on mx or kart track as minimotard. Rather than messing with custom mounts, would it make sense to buy a suitable frame that already fits t...

Thanks for posting the pictures, Jhoexp! I am curious if the output shaft is the same size as the non-geared qs 138 motor? Have you checked yet? No, unfortunatly it is not. It's a 17mm shaft, the same that pit bikes usually have. I haven't been able to find 520 pinions, in fact I bought a 428 with ...

It will be interesting to see how it holds up when someone starts to push it. I'll try my best :D , but I doubt I will have it ready soon... Regarding the controllers: what's wrong with the controller options they (QS Motors/SIA Ecosys) offer to go with this motor? The EM150-2SP or EM200SP seem to be more then capable of powering this motor. They are low voltage (72V) basic escs. They are sure good enough for now, but already serioulsy ...

Just received my thumb throttle and trigger throttle from you @KarT_PS, connected to my BBSHD with eggrider, but they don't work.
My cheap chinese thumb throttle is working correctly, why yours don't? Do I have to set something up in the firmware to make them work?
