Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

Has anyone got this set up and running in there conversions yet ? Haven't seen many video's or complete builds beside the one posted here on endless sphere and what controllers is everyone using, QS suggest Votel EM 200 Considering this in my next build in a 125 motor cross bike. Cheers I just comp...

It's starting to look properly cool! :thumb: What are they made of, 6082? Are they relatively "easy" to tig weld and what is the filler material used?

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

Thanks! That’s helpful. So what sort of RPM range should I be working to with these motors? More like 4,000? I think you can go much higher, depends on the voltage you want to use and the controller field weakening. If you search for j bjork ktm build, he reached 7000rpm or more, if I remember corr...

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

Just FYI I have had a batch of 520 12T sprockets made up for the 17mm/14mm shaft for the QS138V3 motor. Anybody with a complete or near complete project want to test them, send me a PM. 20210501_104544[1].jpg Is the 12z the largest one in 520 size that can fit? (without cutting the case, I assume) ...

So what are people’s recommendations for the front and rear sprocket ratios for this motor with the built-in gear reduction?

Am I correct that QS says 1:3?
It's 1:2.35

Re: Yamaha YZF250F

What kind of cad are you using? I recommend Fusion 360 (free for personal use) to make this kind of sketches (that you can easely transform in 3d plates). It's easier to use than any traditional 2d cad as autocad, you will learn the basics in a few hours with the tutorials. And the basics are all yo...

Re: Yamaha YZF250F

That is just some pre production rendering that is on their website, it is not the same as the production motor. I am sure these are not renderings, but pictures (in low resolution and probably some cutting/mask) of the real thing. They are certainly not that good in making a surface reflecti...

Re: Yamaha YZF250F

The middle section should have been flipped 180 degrees. To fix this the motor would have to be rewound. Is this for real?! I think you are right, they have flipped the finned case. If it was placed correctly there will be room for the bolts and the finned part would be in the right place. Good luc...

I think the motor are about the same size? The zero motor can probably handle more though. I also plan to push 40+ kW  Oh, sorry, I forgot you are going with the misterious QS180, I was thinking about the 138! Sure this setup should be easy capable ok 40+ kW peak and probably 20 kW continous,...

Got 200+2 cells for 990,79eur with postage for a 20s10p (2880w nominal)
Just less than 5 euro each cell, that makes almost 350 euros per kWh. Pretty expensive!

I was considering buying 300 Samsung INR21700-50G for 4 euros each. That would be less than 230 euros per kWh.

Buy a Gen3 Toyota Prius transmission for the princely sum of $75USD and remove the MG2 motor. Purchase a Chevy Volt inverter, prices start at $30 from US based Auto part dismantlers. Great bilt! Without the rear side panels/exhaust covers looks great, like it was meant to be electrified! Did you cut them or are they just bolted on? Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

OK how about "better" for long steep hills & heavy loads at low speeds. Very slow top speeds. Yes, exactly. It sure depends mostly on what use you want to make of it. More mass means slower to overheat in that context? I think you can say so, probably not much of a problem in most use...

Only downside being maybe heavier?
It's not "higher" it's just longer. It is not necessarly "better" than the shorter one that has a lighter rotor, less inertia, usually higher rpm, etc...

I had never heard of that term. They are pretty common here in Italy, they were originally intended to move around in the pit areas, but now some even race them on mx or kart track as minimotard.
