Re: Battery Connectors

Rather than spend $20 on a connector that would likely fail again I decided to drill a hole in the end of my case and directly connect an XT90 connector to the battery output and then sealed the hole with silicone. I just mounted it back on the bike this evening and so far, so good.

Re: Battery Connectors

I already spoke with Luna support and they said they do not have it. Thanks for the idea though.

Battery Connectors

The battery connector in my battery cradle failed. Does anyone know where I can find the type of connector shown in the link below? Also, I'm interested in instructions for how to replace the connector in a Jumbo Shark case.

Thanks.

Re: Throttle Behavior

I just got a new controller and it didnt fix the problem. It seems there is little way to know what to expect out of Bafangs firmware. Hence what I’m proposing is figuring out how to get around the PAS component of the firmware.

Re: Throttle Behavior

Interesting thought. I'll have to look into the tire pressure monitors as a source for pressure data. I was thinking more about this some more yesterday. Is there a way to disable PAS in our systems, but still have the throttle work? I'm pretty sure there is. Anyway, that would be a way to get aroun...

Re: Throttle Behavior

I've been toying with the idea of mounting an arduino into each pedal with a pressure switch and bluetooth module. These would then send their pressure data via bluetooth to another arduino mounted on the handlebars. This Arduino would average the pedal inputs and then map that to a PAS level (or th...

Advanced Chargers

I've decided I should probably get an advanced charger to charge my Luna Shark and Jumbo Shark batteries to only 80% capacity in order to get them to last as long as possible. Luna carries such a charger, but they cost $100 and I'd need two of them since my batteries are ofdifferent voltages. Does a...

BBSHD Firmware Upgrade

Does anyone know how to upgrade the firmware on the BBSHD controller and where to get the latest firmware? According to Luna the controllers currently being shipped from Bafang no longer have the issue with the non-progressive throttle while peddling. Luna has been gracious enough to offer to upgrad...

Re: Throttle Behavior

Thanks for the information Rassy. I'll take a look (hopefully this evening) to see what my serial number is. Where should I look on my BBSHD for the number?

Re: Throttle Behavior

Interesting. I have the gear change sensor installed (though it doesn't work very well). I wonder if I remove the sensor if the throttle would behave normally. Perhaps there is a way to cut the wire to the sensor and bridge the connection so the controller behaves as though the sensor wasn't there.

Throttle Behavior

I read on a forum a month or so ago that when pedaling the throttle behaves in an on/off manner (i.e., full wattage or nothing). If one is not pedaling, then the throttle behaves as expected with some degree of modulation. I was finally able to test it out this morning on my bike (BBSHD with left th...

"...and so usually have 5v on one wire, ground on another, and a signal that goes from just above 0V to around 4V..." This is good to know and is what I'm trying to figure out. Any ideas how I can tell which wire is which? The unit in question is the standard left thumb throttle for the BBSxx mid-dr...

Does anyone else have a copy of a schematic for any of the Bafang throttles? I'm working on a project where I control the throttle input with an Arduino and need to know which pins do what.

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

The creaking in the bottom bracket is back. Probably due to changes in the weather. I decided to remove the BbsHD from the bottom bracket to check for any play between the shaft and the bottom bracket shell. It turns out there is quite a bit. I'm pretty sure this the source of the noise. I think the...

BBSxx Shift Sensor

I installed a shift sensor on my BBSHD build. It has worked fine for about a month, but recently has begun to only work intermittently. Has anyone else had this issue? Did you resolve it?

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

Another Update: The bike seems to work fine and as mentioned before, the lateral movement on the shaft is gone. There is still some creaking noise, but it's a lot less than before. I'm not sure if I can attribute this the bearing spacer I installed, or the fact that I just tightened the hell out of...

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

Here's an update. Last night I installed the new bearing from Luna. It didn't fix the lateral movement and I didn't test for the creaking noise since it was raining, again. Today I went to the hardware store and picked up a stainless steel washer that was the same outside diameter as the outside th...

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

I haven't fixed it yet. Luna sent me a replacement bearing. Hopefully I can find the time this evening to put it in and see if that solves the issue. I'll report back soon.

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

I just checked the lateral movement again, post reassembly. It sort of seems like their might be less, but I'm not really sure. It would be fractions of a millimeter if anything. It's still there, but is well within the 3mm tolerance limit Luna is suggesting. I don't see any real way to adjust for t...

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

I don't know if it's fixed yet. I haven't ridden the bike since I reassembled the bearing. I live in Seattle and it's been raining a bunch. I'll try tightening the pedals down as much as I can. Would you mind checking your wife's bike to see how much lateral movement there is in the crank shaft? I'd...
