Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I posted an update on the esk8 forums with a new 20s battery and motor running at 77 phase amps (set to 100 amps). Performed well over a 25 mile ride pulling a trailer. Cooling could use some improvement.

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

You can use a "20s anti-spark" switch. A few companies sell them. It's basically a bank of mosfets activated by a small on/off button.

Others use the xt90s and modify it into a loop key

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Just found the datasheet. Its a high voltage step down. What was the part number? Might be helpful for others who run into the same situation throttle cutouts kicked in, likely due to heat. These units have a few reasons they will cut out. Probably not throttle related. Soft: High ESC temp, high mo...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

No idea... they usually don't blow up like that. My guess would be a bad mosfet that shorted out or poor QC/soldering from Flipsky. The mosfets shouldn't switch on until you run the motor wizard.

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I cannot find any datasheet or references for this. If anyone can Help me. I just know that is a23a, sc 17I or 28640 but can find nothing about it in internet. I think this is a high voltage step down, like the mp9846 but the pins are not the same. The white circuit board version 1 of this ESC had ...

MY1020 inrunner with AFAIK good halls on 20s The VESC was originally designed for electric skateboards using oversized 14 pole outrunner drone motors. If you are using an inrunner, set the pole count during the motor setup wizard. It's on the advanced tab just before you click "run detection&q...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I wrote a tutorial on how to flash firmware on this unit with an st-link.

https://forum.esk8.news/t/how-to-update ... -esc/61819

Under the "hard method" section

Just make sure you are using the right firmware file for the hardware version you have.

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Hahaha that's great. So they modified the hardware to be compatible with the 75_300_R2, but still had to slightly modify the 75_300_R2 firmware to make it work. Now when people upgrade the firmware in the VESC tool, it will pull in the unmodified 75_300_R2 and the ESC won't work. If only there was a...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

This is really good info, thank you. I've added a message to my "how to update the firmware" post that if you have 75100V202 printed on the board not to use my firmware. It sounds like the controller is now using the unmodified 75_300_R2 firmware? A few more follow-up questions: Do the vol...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Have you heard anything from Flipsky regarding the stacked shunts? A few questions: What does the version on your board read? 75100V201? Were you able to sa...

I did, they said they will launch their new improved version after CNY holidays. With regards to firmware. Not sure i can share their email response, if there is no issue I'll do that. I don't think a email screenshot needs to be posted, but I think most of us are interested in your summary of what...

5.3 also has Constant Torque pedal assist, added by someone on this thread  Thank you for adding that feature :) I saw offers on Banggood and Aliexpress but I'm afraid they don't have the same quality or not have genuine chips. Is that a concern or I shouldn't worry? for the same price i rath...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Am i wrong to assume this controller does not allow for PAS? PAS was added to the VESC firmware a year ago by @marcos (Axiom guy) on this forum who works with Luna Cycle on their Luna Ludicrous V2, a VESC based controller for the BBSHD. I haven't tested it yet, but here is the info: This commit ena...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Agreed, and thanks. Back on topic! There are a few wiring diagrams floating around for this controller, and there were two inaccuracies in the early ones. I was shipped an inaccurate diagram and a few of the vendors on AliExpress still have old diagrams. The biggest issue is the placement of the ADC...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

I think he's referring to the technical problem of not being able to update the firmware from the factory because Flipsky is intentionally refusing to share their source code. If they did it the right/legal way, they would have simply submitted their changes to the main VESC GitHub and the firmware ...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Yes 5.3 works after replacing the bootloader. You have to load the firmware manually as it's not part of the main branch yet. See instructions here

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Seems like with a bit of active cooling it could hold that 50ish amps, you think? Sounds reasonable. The IGBTs are screwed to an aluminum bar that uses a thermal compound to the outer aluminum case so heat transfer to open air should be decent, but it may still need a finned heatsink mounted to it....

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Will run at that ...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Regarding fliplsky, I think they implemented some cost optimizations they consider clever / a competitive advantage. I mean the 75100 is half the price of the their own 7550 / the spinted ubox, none of which can take a 20s battery. So they are a "market leader" of some sorts. I guess they...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

alldatasheet says that 18JD marking corresponds to the TI INA181 family of current sense amplifiers. According to the datasheet, the chip comes in 20, 50, 100, and 200 V/V gains. I couldn't determine if the marking tells you which chip in the family it is. Thanks for the lead. It looks like TI's da...

How was the unmodified firmware that ships with it obtained ?, reading the flash via SWD ? Yes, I connected using the ST-LINK utility and saved the binary firmware when I first got the ESC. I was able to switch back and forth many times while testing temperatures, voltages, etc. Have you examined t...

Re: FLIPSKY new 20s 100A tiny controller (vesc based)

Has anybody managed to update firmware? I'm really curious if it works or if there really is something stopping this (other than the appropriate cable not being outside) Also said that firmware is 5.2 & cannot be updated. Got mine yesterday. I didn't find the ST interface exposed so if the exis...
