How to protect triangle frame battery from theft

Hi I would like you advise on how to protect the triangle frame battery pack of my e-bike. I park the bike at the university and I am usually no more than a few hundred feet away from the bike. The battery pack sits inside the frame, in a waterproof case. The case is attached to the frame via Velcro...

Motion-sensitive alarm that alerts owner via SMS

Hi

Do you know where I can find a motion-sensitive alarm that alerts the owner via SMS when the bike is disturbed?

Thanks

Re: Is this 1500W VooDoo HooDoo MTB e-bike worth £1533?

It is not easy to answer questions like this. It appears to have a torque arm on one side only. I prefer to see arms on both sides with alloy frames. I don't see the controller, it appears they have put it in a nylon bag which reduces airflow. They are going for looks over performance. Do they have...

Re: Is this 1500W VooDoo HooDoo MTB e-bike worth £1533?

Hardtail blows at speed. In general, you don't want a hardtail ebike period. Even a crappy rear suspension is miles better than none. Batteries are cheap. If they weren't they would brag on the cell they used. Mostly, though, it's pretty hugely overpriced for what you get. But, since you continue t...

@teslanv Sorry for not replying sooner. I just realised that the thread had been unlocked and order had been restored. 1. Great website, very informative and aesthetically pleasing. Succint too; no walls of text to overload you with info, sometimes irrelevant to the topic at hand, and confuse you e...

Plus, we would help you, at least I would, every step of the way. Thanks for the support. My initial impression of the forum was a bit disappointing (based on the responses I received...). Now the DIY route seems more and more attractive. Heck, I'd build a bike for you and ship it at a much better ...

Re: Please recommend a high-powered e-bike

Wow! can you believe what the thesmallgreenroom.com is claiming?... "Our bikes can literally take you up just about any hill with a top end of 50mph on the 1500W version and 75mph on our 5000W versions. Travel distances vary but the average is 65 miles to 115 miles unassisted" The first bike is cla...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

I did notice that the bike comes in a wide range of wheel sizes, and it would make sense if the motor windings (and hence, RPM) were varied according to the wheel size. It might be worth contacting the manufacturer in case the RPM listed is intended for mounting on the smallest wheel? Most ebay ven...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

Under the listed specifications, I'd be concerned about burning out the motor on even modest hills. In short, I don't think the vendor knows what they're selling (I at least hope not). Damn, I am disappointed to read that. I was fired up and ready to buy that bike after watching this review on TV (...

Re: 60v/30Ah battery from Alibaba for $99?!?

I'll help you out: that battery is shit and it won't deliver anywhere near the rated capacity even at 0.2c guaranteed. Ebiking puts a moderate demand on 18650 cells even on a lightweight, low power kit. You need decent cells, and they don't come at the price that makes a pack of that capacity anywh...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

You'll have to contact the vendor asking for turn count, or better yet, the KV value (RPM per volt) for the motor, then many on this forum could advise a reasonable substitute motor for the simulator. I'm guessing that most 1000W ebay motors will resemble the clyte HS3540 in KV, which is 10.4 RPM p...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

Will you be buying that bike? I do want to buy that bike but I am concerned that I might be overpaying, especially since I've found other "1500w bikes" at half the price (~800 instead of ~1600). Actually, I attempted to buy the bike via Ebay but the purchase was cancelled by the seller. He did ask ...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

If you go to http://www.ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html , you can use the simulator to try different voltage/motor/controller combinations, even changing the grade or slope to see the effects of hills. These data are based on lab tests performed by Justin at Grin Technologies. In your circumstances,...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

Nothing in the link states the max amp draw of the controller. Without that info it's impossible to know how much amperage the battery you get needs to be able to put out. Many cheap 18650 packs are limited to under 30A. Some small packs are rated for 20A or less. It would be wise to have the batte...

Yeah stay away from that seller on Aliexpress. Buy the 1500W Leaf motor or 3000W MXUS motor, a sinewave controller from any number of reputable sellers, and any bike you wish. Be sure its steel and use Torque Arms. Battery could be from E.S. Tumich, Luna, ebikes.ca, Home Depot EGO 56V packs, Hallom...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

You might want to watch the video again. He states 50 to up to 75 KPH, not 50 mph. 1. Watch the video again. He mentions that the motor is 1.5KW and then says " It's capable of pushing this bike, unassisted, at up to 75kph ". He never says " 50 to up to 75kph ". 2. I said 50mph in my original post ...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

Aliexpress is a plattform not a dealer. Could you recommend buying at ebay? You have to include shipping cost, taxes and the risk that you will get no battery at all. You also have to include the risk of getting a "Lithium bomb" buying cheap battery packs from China or elsewhere. You can make thing...

Re: Suggest 52v/30Ah battery for Voodoo Hoodoo e-bike

It's certainly not helpful in selection of a battery pack except for the voltage. If they can't answer a simple question like this, don't expect any help from them if you run into a problem. 50 mph, as stated in the link, takes at least 5000W of power. At 60V, that means the controller has to draw ...
