Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Anyone heard anything about a controller replacement for the Sur-Ron? There's been talk of the factory making a new sine-wave version, but so far it hasn't been seen. Then theres that ASI monster that Luna/Luke have been ripping up the internet with. Ideally, I'm looking for something reliable and we...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Flipped breaker, no change. Anybody seen this issue? Yeah. Mine went the other way - Lack of power in Sport mode despite flicking between the two and resetting. Happened while being chased by cops across a park (another story) Pull off the key switch plate and fiddle with some of the plugs (they al...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

no its not the other way around, the 48t sprocket actualy has a lower top speed that the 58 by about 7kph. i have seen this for myself. How are you measuring your speed? GPS or off the stock speedo on the bars. I believe the controller is driving the bar mounted speedo and has no idea of gearing. I...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Stock BMS has 16 x 5mOhm surface mount resistors composing the shunt (0.31mOhm combined). We just doubled up each resistor and it's enough to get everything the OEM pack can deliver to a hotrod controller, and still has functional over voltage, under voltage, and over-temp protection. Soldering wor...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

In the mean time, I was pretty happy to find out that pedals can be screwed in it's place.
I know the Adventure Moto guys pay through the nose for wide, pivoting pegs :)

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

A hard and heavy rock strike today took off one of the foot-pegs.
The mounts that the peg attaches into seem like a specialised part as I can't find one online.
Does anybody know if it can be sourced off-the-shelf? or just get this one repaired.

Hi Guys I've noticed that a new forum has just gone live in the last few days https://openppg.com A guy by the YouTube name of PDWhite seems to be leading the charge. Here's a link to his channel where you can see Ver 1 in action: https://www.youtube.com/user/paulwq1234 I think there's a lot of valu...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

Hi Guys - Personal thoughts on the belt conversion ideas being tossed around... Ummm...WHY? From an engineering perspective, its more complicated and less reliable; with the benefit being a few D.B of noise reduction (not enough to warrant). I mean, there's a good reason Zero offered their FX with a...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

A lot of posts since mine! The LB hill climb vid was actually posted on page nine of the Freerider topic, about mid page: Hi L.B - That hill-climb (mine) seems to be spoken about as a bit of a failure of the Sur-ron. I'd like to add some perspective. The gradient is aprox 45 degrees with loose, blo...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

I'd like to weigh in with some impressions after a few months of ownership. There's some comparison further up to smaller Japanese Gas bikes. They will ultimately have more range. Acceleration wise, a 0 - 50Kph would be very close in Sur-ron's stock gearing. But I don't think it's a useful compariso...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

I took my mates girlfriend as pillion passenger for a spin today on the Sur-Ron (total weight 150KG). It wasn't pretty sharing the foot-pegs (toes on heels), but nothing broke. My concerns about the sub-frame snapping were placated by her epic tits pressed hard against my back. Top speed and acceler...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

As an owner,I've got to address this pedal retrofit idea that people have, in an attempt to put it to bed. Like MacDonalds offering tofu on the Big Mac as a vego alternative. It just won't work! Just as trying to stick a thong up ya bum is a useless exercise. Adding pedals to this bike is an act of ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

You know that you have a disruptive player in the market when a product comes along that starts fracturing the e-bike community. So far in these threads I've seen nervous vendors poo pooing it on the spec sheet. Others stating the obvious, saying that it is an e-motorcycle, not an e-bike, implying t...

Re: [AUSTRALIA] Sur-Ron Light Bee / Fire Fly - Mid drive ebike

Digressing from topic: I rode a Merida eOne-Sixty the other week. So smooth, natural and well tuned; I'd consider getting this legal e-bike But saying that, all that fine bicycle feeling would taper off pretty quick at greater speeds / power levels to the point where it'd become a Frankenstein PAS ab...

I see your point Drum.

I've successful 3D printed a number of fans for motors that have worked quite well.
As long as there is a bit of shaft to attach to, can offer the same here.

Could you use the Ferro-Juice (Transmission Fluid) that the hub guys are using?
Or is the frame of this motor wide open.

Re: Sur-Ron Light Bee USA group buy

Possibly on the 17th I will get one of the electric power gurus to tune an ASI controller on a dyno. I was told the motor is good for 3 times the current power level before saturation. I would settle for twice the power !!! And it will be a sine wave controller so it should be way quieter. Twice th...

Re: Sur-Ron Light Bee USA group buy

I personally would not be happy, paying $2000 for a ebike , then knowing I want to spend $1000 or more to upgrade
I see it as a starting point for a great project with few surplus bits that can be sold off for upgrades. Can't wait..

Re: [AUSTRALIA] Sur-Ron Light Bee / Fire Fly - Mid drive ebi

I just downloaded the APP for iPhone and had a look at it. Most of it is in Chinese (I'm not bi-lingual) It appears that these things are GPS enabled. They track their journeys and last recorded point before power off. All this information is uploaded through the App for all to see. EG: There's a fl...

Yes. chalk me up as interested. I suppose money would be required when we reach a critical mass of interest? Can you let us know
In the mean time, will be taking a closer look at their specs
