Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Maybe 19S battery charged at 4.1v will work fine with stock X controller? That would be really cool Walking on the edge there. But hey, that's where the fun is. Have yourself a spare controller on hand so your bike isn't down for too long. I was personally underwhelmed doing voltage mods to the sto...

Re: DaVinci drives

Post some photo's ace. Davinci drive usually runs a RC speed controller. They require PWM signalling to make them turn the motor. Ebike throttle produces 0 - 5 volts so it needs to be converted to this PWM. That's where the black box comes in. Inside there should be a high voltage UBEC (check before...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Do you have a spec for the stock controller that shows it's max voltage? Or is this just trial and error. Pulled apart a couple of the stock controllers, gutting them to house the Nuclear controller. The capacitors are rated to 80V form memory. Didn't bother looking up the spec of the mosfets. Fell...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I haven't been here for a while but a few comments on this page based on my experience: If your building your own (AUX) battery - The connectors you want that will plug straight in are the RCPROPLUS brand REB6808 S6 P8 style - expensive but quality. The stock controller has a low voltage cut off at ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

O.K, Ive seen the hall sensor for sale on Luna and figured it was a wear item but had no idea what the hell it was or how to test/ replace it. There is not much info on the description. Could you please give me a dumbed down explanation of what it is and how to replace it? Y.T and Google can tell y...

Faulty motor hall sensors - they are a spare part. Easy enough to change out
Mine had similar symptoms.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

So what's your magic formula, which tires? It's all personal taste mate. There is no blanket "Best". Just the best thing for me. How do you like your ride to feel? Muted, planted, stuck to the ground. Or Lively and playful like a MTB? Planted - go the light Moto tyre option. Playful - fin...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I recently did the Moto Tyre experiment on the Surron. I read all the posts and recommendations. Agonised over my choice and pulled the trigger. First ride - "Fark this!" The good: The cornering grip was unbelievable. The bike was now a plough. Smash the chunkiest of terrain. magic carpet ...

Off-The-Shelf Ebike. Worth it?

Over the I've last decade, I've built a number of DIY e-bikes. Several Hub drives and 2 mid-drives. All in the 2 - 5 KW range, retrofitted to DH style bikes. They are all gone now as my Surron has been so awesome to get my e-fix on. I'm now thinking of something a bit more accepted by the wider comm...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Hey guys, having problems with my sur ron was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues? Its cutting out, first few times was from a standstill there was nothing, but now its cutting out at full gas and dying... an unplug battery seems to fix it for about 5km then it quits again. I have an x ...

Re: Neematic - 20kW middrive bike

So Dylan from NZ marketing just flicked me a brochure because I was asking questions on it's specs. While I'd like to post the entire brochure, i've just managed to include the spec relevant screenshots, minus about a dozen action shots of the bike that don't hold relevance, other than emotional. So...

Re: Neematic - 20kW middrive bike

I personally like it in it's Moto form. I know that this is an E-Bicycle forum and a lot of the appeal is being able to pedal past a cop at 25kph, then rip it when nobody is looking but I find that pedals just get in the way with performance off-road riding. I think that's what they're going for in ...

Is he who I think he is? Posted some neat bikes here that he built . . . . He has got some cool builds which set the stage for his rep as a vendor. But I'm astounded that he is still trading given his well documented behaviour towards so many of his customers. The only way I got my money back was b...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

If we have the ruler out measuring dicks here, consider this: The winner doesn't have one! Her name is Eva Hakansson (engineer, academic, garage builder and balls of steel rider) and piloted her home built electric motorcycle to over 400Kph on the salt flats. I had the pleasure of chatting with her ...

if you watch the colors looks ERT to me :D listed under brands ERT and his Litespeed buddy  Agree. Jack Cecil was banging on about them in his 70MPH Surron video on YT. Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I've come across a used Fox 49 Factory (29er + boost fork) for good money. One of the upgrades I want to try is getting a 21" front wheel built up, wondering if anyone sees an issue with using the 29er fork IMO that front wheel / fork setup will give the Sur-Ron the proportions of a Pennyfarth...

This was going to be a post of me publicly calling out Alan Hu of Electric Race Technologies for being a lying grub and calling out his unconscionable business practices. Service your brakes if there squealing.
Pads out. Brake cleaner.
Fully extend pistons. Clean and lube them. Replace rotors if there scored.
Worked a treat for me. They used to make horrible noises.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The bushings in the top of the fork are rooted, where the stanchions slide into the lowers. I just went through this with my RST's and upgraded the forks May they RIP. They held up longer than I thought they would. You can get the crow race off the RST's with patience and persistance to transplant o...
