Re: Dualtron Ultra ( Pretty Much New)

A seat will actually help a lot. The seat not only lowers your center of gravity, but also helps stabilize your weight, so you don't have to balance as you do standing. I have a custom built scooter that can hit 50 mph and its far too scary riding standing, but sitting is much more stable and comfor...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I purchased this 13s 30A Smart Bluetooth BMS from Aliexpress. It arrived after 3 weeks. Unfortunately my unit doesn't work. It was DOA (Dead on Arrival). Bluetooth & PC connection work, but the problem is that the first cell reads 1.8 V incorrectly while my cell 1 is at 4+ volts. Seller t...

Re: Uber scoot 36v is 1000w

Yeah, then you're going to have to upgrade the electronics - battery/controller/motor. You might be able to squeeze more out of the motor, so at least controller/battery. You will probably want to overvolt, to 48v, (at current gearing, will give you same torque but more top end) which means you'll n...

Re: Looking for confirmation before ordering

I think your math is correct, but there's no way you're going to hit 35mph on a 500w motor.

Re: Uber scoot 36v is 1000w

The only thing that doesn't require new electronics is to change out the sprockets. You basically change gearing, so you sacrifice acceleration to get more top end, and vice versa, like a bicycle.

Re: openprop help

I've made a little bit of progress. I looked in the openprop source and found a parameter to output rhino3d and solidworks macros and I was able to hack the code so that those files are now created from the GUI. However, it looks like the macros are old and some of the commands are not supported by ...

openprop help

Does anyone have experience using openprop? I have some questions. 1) What exactly does the ship speed parameter do in the GUI? There are no other parameters, like ship size or weight or drag coefficient or anything. Just speed, so how does only having the speed parameter provide any useful input? 2...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

I have some basic mechanical questions: How are you guys handling shock safety? Clearly the electronics need to be protected/waterproofed, but in the event the waterproofing fails and you have accidental contact of battery/live high voltage/amperage wires to the water? How are you sealing the motor...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

You have described what I had originally said - that lowering kv is the equivalent of mechanically gearing down - total power either watts or HP is voltage x current or RPM x torque. If you increase voltage, you decrease current or decrease voltage and increase current, given a fixed wattage of the...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

Just following this thread, as I'm interested in building one. I built an electric kick scooter that is loads of fun on land, and now its on to water :D A few questions. I see that there is discussion of using a gearbox - is that to keep RPM at target or mostly due to sync issues? Is sync basically...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

Is sync basically an issue of insufficient starting torque or something else? I couldn't find whether you guys are having sync issues running sensored or sensorless. I had sync issues when starting from stopped on my scooter when running sensorless and with gearing/motor kv optimized for speed rath...

keyne wrote:Does it go into the sleep state by itself after a set time? Or is it only put into the sleep state if you use the app?
It goes into sleep if there is no Bluetooth activity for 10 seconds. The app polls the BMS constantly for real time data, so as long as the app is open, there is activity.

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I've just ordered a 24s 100A one myself. A few questions you may be able to help with: Do you know what Balanced turn-on voltage is? Thanks! I'm actually a little surprised everything worked nearly right off the bat. My problem now is that my circuit breakers can't handle the load. I actually destroyed a 100a breaker, so I upgraded to a 200a  The other little quirk is that my ammeter seems to be reading low. I don't see ov...

Re: scooter build

Update! I've actually been slowly working on this scooter for the past few months, just not a lot of progress, but today, done! Most of my time was spent building the battery pack. I had chosen samsung 30Qs, which can handle 15-20A of discharge. The problem is that a 7mmx0.15mm nickel strip can only...

We all know that 787 welder does not weld 0.15mm to 0.15mm nickel. But what about 0.1mm nickel to 0.1mm nickel? Recent Weld/build: http://i.imgur.com/xiZBpTx.jpg I've switched to 0.1mm strips and my 788h with homemade pen setup welds fine, nickel-to-nickel. Why are your + terminal connections to yo...

Re: Help with Electic skatboard wirering and diagram

With that high motor kv, you're going to pulling some serious amps. I don't think that little motor can handle 90A of continuous draw. It seems like you're shooting to 60A max, since your BMS is 60A max. I think you're going to draw more than 60A with that motor. Your ESC will NOT handle 60A. It wil...

Re: soldering vs spot welding debate

Holy hell  Almost 1 minute on the negative side! No wonder the chemistry got messed up. Yeah, I only need about 3 seconds to melt a blob on the terminal, then later after it has completely cooled, another 1-2 seconds to melt a pre-tinned wire onto the blob. And this is with a 60w temp control...
