Re: 3rd ebike battery. This time, doing it right

I know its not battery related but I found out my hub motor has 16 awg phase wires... I repeat, a generic 9C clone off ebay has 16awg phase wires! utter cap! I may need to replace them with at least 12awg someday...but that someday isn't now. The length of the 16awg wires is only about 6" tops now a...

Re: Samsung 33J - a 21700 Li-ion battery designed for Tesla

I call your bluff. Where does it say it was "designed" by Tesla? I agree and call bs on this. My only guess is maybe it's made for their power wall applications. Obviously not their ev's... At this point Tesla is maximizing charge current, discharge current and capacity...basically the three holy gr...

Little bit of progress this am. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7922/32140234147_47aee1f05b_b.jpg I'm starting to get the first few series of connections done. Soldering is super quick and it only takes maybe 1-2 seconds tops to solder each cell. I believe I have plenty of wick wire but I think I'm go...

Re: Tesla acquires maxwell - why Luke?

.... Raw horsepower after the gates wins which is where Telsa comes up short. Enter Maxwell's SuperCap that can dump 100% of its power in seconds once the car is out the gates (tires have grabbed and car is already going over 60mph before caps even kick in...otherwise wheels just spin). Tesla's 1/4...

Re: 3rd ebike battery. This time, doing it right

If the white plastic housing material is polyethylene or polypropylene, most glues won't stick to it. They make a special glue that will stick, but it is not commonly available at the local hardware store. Many types of tape will stick well, however, so you may want to use tape along the edges to k...

Re: 3rd ebike battery. This time, doing it right

Are you testing the cells to make sure they r alll the same mah. Or atleast group the ones the are similar? If not I urge you do this or your pack will lose charge quickly. And make sure every cell is at least with in .1v of each other. Don't worry. I'll have a bms...but yes. All cells were from To...

Nah brah...that ain't gonna work. Trust me im sure it's been thought of before. Plus the electrolyte is highly corrosive/toxic. I dunno what the heck is in that stuff but I've had one leak out when disassembling a pack and it'll melt plastic on contact... Plus it's more about the cathode creating de...

Dude. Why don't you just get some salvaged Tesla modules? They're about a grand a pop but they should give you the energy density you want and power levels. Plus they're like super safe...so why not?

Re: Epic 7kw+ 12 fet controller...or there abouts :)

Yea. I'm battery limited as my new panasonic ncr18650 would be able to deliver about 60 maybe 65amps burst, the bms is limited to 45A continuous...but I'd rather treat my batteries nicely than push them too hard just to get a little more acceleration. I'd rather not open up the hub motor as I don't ...

Little bit of progress: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7917/46269697244_3183335b63_b.jpg I got all the new cells ground on both the positive and negative terminals. I have the design ready. Re: Tesla Model 3

Have you tried using A/C outlet for that ? I like the A/C, usually. (And charging overnight at 120V gives me 40 miles of range or so which is usually plenty.) But I do carry around a bag of adapters for other purposes. I have friends about 40 miles away, for example, and I use their dryer outlet wh...

The main advantage is Maxwell is working on a solid state electrode...essentially the higher charge rates and discharge rates are possible with this along with 500-600wh/kg....

Yyyeeessss dude! I love the project! Freaking awesome on a 12fet controller. Makes me feel a little better about my 12fet running about 2000W max or around 48A. The only thing I've modded on my controller is all new waterproof wires for the sensing wires and the shunt mod. I'll soon be changing out ...

Re: 3rd ebike battery. This time, doing it right

I think it's like a 63/37 rosin core. You are having difficulties getting the solder to stick because the surface is smooth. You need to either sand it down or even better, take a dremmel to it with a stone bit and rough up the surface. Once it's roughed up it'll suck up the solder like a kid at Dis...

Re: 3rd ebike battery. This time, doing it right

Did anyone talk you out of soldering these cells together as the heat will defiantly damage them and take a couple hundred mah away?? It’s a great idea to spot weld. You can make one very cheap with a capacitor. Look it up on YouTube. Please. Time and time again this is completely false... The only...

Re: are there cable protectors on the market?

Damm dude.. Where the heck do you park your bike? You could do like a metal sleeve but even then it's going to just stand out even more and if they can cut the wires in half they can likely cut through any type of metal sleeving... Your #1 best bet is to park in someplace different. Gosh I can't ima...

Sounds like a bad bms.... I'd be more concerned with if you have an overcharged, over discharged series of cells....it can likely be salvaged with a new bms...or a connection could be bad in the battery causing this..

I have no problem with lighting...well I do wish the beam was wider...but I just use my convoy C8 flashlight in an adapter on the bars...takes 5 seconds to attach and detach from the bars and on high it's like 900-1000lm so no issues with brightness. The thing is crazy bright in the city. Way bright...
