Re: Trek Retrofit

Yea this one is underground in a building so probably not. They do have these handrails welded into the concrete about 6 ft behind parked cars with an overhang that is only about 5ft high so no cars can park that far back...thats my idea to lock it up there... I also just realized I never ever use ...

Re: Trek Retrofit

My big concern right now is I haven't taken my bike to work yet and I'm wondering about security.... I'd have to most likely lock it up on the dc metro bike lock and that's not the safest. I've got a coil lock and boron carbide key lock but I'm not sure...I might try to ride it inside then down the ...

Re: Tesla, first car in space

The regular falcon 9 block 5 should be able to put a roadster in a Martian orbit. Not sure about the entry tho but strap on a sky crane and land that puppy. Do some burnouts around curiosity. Lol. Use some solar city solar panels and you got yourself the first solar supercharger on Mars. Lol. Elon's...

Re: Trek Retrofit

Trek looks good! I personally would never use wood on my bike but that's personal preference. Nice to see a suspension fork on it too! I've got a hard front and tail trek 800 sport from 2002 I believe... I just got a suspension seatpost and I'm planning on a suspension fork despite all I can read on...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

Ahh, now I see the EBS pads you soldered on the pic. Better would be to solder on wires to a switch, or at least a jumper plug. For others reading, its connecting these two pads that enables regen, which then gets activated by the brake switch on an e bike brake handle. Click on the picture to see ...

Re: Common pack design mistakes, how to avoid?

Has anyone on here now tried any of the liquid/spray on based protective coatings for your battery packs? Like the stuff they have on TV that keeps a boat afloat with a screen door as the hull? Lol... Not that I've seen, nor do I think it's the best idea. If you're planning on spraying it directly ...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

WOW...what a morning... did a TON of work to the bike. Totally rewired the bike and got it running. Regen DEFINITELY WORKS! The only mod needed is to solder the two EBS solder pads together. I haven't been able to fully test it but I can confirm with just the wheel spinning that regen does in-fact w...

Re: Ebike crank arms

Funny story...this entire time I thought I had a trek 80C sport.... The sport part covers some of the last 0 so I just always thought it was a C...well I don't think it is. Lol so I've got a trek 800 Sport. Ha. What's strange is I can hardly find any detailed specs on them. I took out my seatpost th...

Re: Will this BMS and Charger pair nicely for a 13s3p pack?

It said it was for li ion but it's not really well suited for it. I think its a hacked charger since it doesn't drop current once it reaches 54.8v... Just go with a 13s configuration. I've got a 48v hub and 13s works perfect

Re: Ebike crank arms

Dumb....ordered the crank arm. Received it today...it's the wrong one. Picture and description says 175mm and square taper. Ends up being a rhombus and 165mm... Thats crap. Sending that one back and already ordered another one thats definitely a 170mm length square taper... Ugh. Well at least I won'...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

Once you got it going, some good close up pics of where you soldered on the jumper wires will be a good resource for others to use. Your title is ideal, for others searching. Definitely! Since my controller is the generic controller with the $140 hub kit I would think some people definitely would w...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

Right, the BL would go to the brake lever switch, then back to ground. Most of these controllers also have settings in the software for the regen level. Hard to say if yours will work with software made for another model. I can see the connection points for the programmer on the board. It may be pr...

Re: Will this BMS and Charger pair nicely for a 13s3p pack?

Charger = NO!!!! I have the identical charger and it's a lead acid charger. It charges at a cv of 56.6 although my bms will cutout around 54.4v...it's not good. Im using it because it works but it's not ideal. Bms = Maybe. It doesn't have any balancing features and it looks only rated for 15amp disc...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

Back from research: So after reviewing some sites and blogs...it looks like I've narrowed down regen or (electronic braking) to low/high...this would be the BL or BH pins on the underside of the board. I've read another blog where the controller says SL or SH. I assume B stands for brake..duh and L...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

I get the reverse current limit...that is an unknown about my pack. I'm less worried about overvolting since my battery only really charges up to 53.2~v which gives me plenty of room with regen... https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4700/26293195568_14428ce8d7_h.jpg I connected the EBS solder pads.... I a...

Re: Ebike crank arms

FYI just wanted to update the thread... I took the bike out this am and was able to confirm I have a square hole. I ended up ordering a 175mm square crank arm. Same brand. Hopefully it fits. Lol. I don't think I'll notice the 5mm difference but we shall see. I also ordered a badly needed suspension ...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

Since I'm such an idiot with electronics ( ag degree, not ee) I would just go buy a cheap ass new controller on ebay, one that does have the regen wires attached. Keep the old one to use as a spare, for some day when your other one croaks. ON the bms, it depends. Many don't like more than about 5 a...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

So I've finally found some blog posts of different controllers and how to enable regen. Looking at my pics of my controller it looks like I need to jump the bk with ground to enable regen. Ebs is supposed to control the strength but haven't found how to get that to work? Looking at the pics of the u...

Re: Enabling regenerative braking on eBay hub kit

I know this is an old thread but Im still stuck on this...I still haven't been able to find great info on enabling regen.... I have a few thoughts. There's 2 white wires that come out of the controller when connected reverse the motor slowly and reverse even more when I apply throttle. In addition. ...

Re: E-bike restricted trail access and hate

It's not so much the wattage limit but the speed limit that gets me...I guess its not like a car speed... Ive got 1300w but I still abide by the 15mph speed limit...but they limit it to 500w? Sounds like a speed limit with a hp limit for cars and trucks...
