Re: 150A BMS "blown" at 110A during lab test. Video attached. What next?

Alright, so good news in the sense that I could replace the fet and possibly live happily ever after, though bad news in the sense that something might have gone wrong that I am not in control over. I can monitor the total voltage sag, like in the video, but not across every series connection. I mig...

Re: 150A BMS "blown" at 110A during lab test. Video attached. What next?

Thanks for all your answers, and thank you fechter for posting the data sheet! I don't understand too much of what the data sheet says, but I started studying the "safe operation area" on page 4.. At 50-60V and 110A/8 FET's = roughly 14A pr FET, is this not borderline "not safe"?? I mean, it looks t...

Re: A little nervous I've underengineered my pack, thoughts?

First test done. We had to quit the test when the BMS died on us at 110A. Unfortunately I have not made nice graphs like Henrik at lygte-info.dk does, but I have notes, pictures and videos. What I intended to test: 1. Low load over enough time to prove the functionality of the battery pack, and to f...

150A BMS "blown" at 110A during lab test. Video attached. What next?

Hi, I bought the only 16s BMS I could find that was supposed to handle 150A continuous, and the other day I was testing my battery pack for temperature rise, only to find out that the batteries did fine, but the BMS did not! After roughly 1/2 minute (1 minute 25seconds into the video) at 110A we hea...

I actually completely forgot you mentioned that somewhere higher up in this thread, that might be my solution! And I'll check out those sellers too, thanks :-)

Re: Demagnetized magnet for electronic throttle, help!

Got the new magnets, and would you know they're magnetized the wrong way...

Anyway, I got to test the old magnet and it is completely dead, more or less.

So now the search becomes harder than ever, with the magnets having to be magnetized the right way in addition to being the right dimensions...

Re: Ebike scooter project QS 4kw V3 72v, Kelly KEB72601

Thanks a lot for your answer Smeagol :) It gives me a great place to start, and since my battery capacity currentwise will be close to yours, it might even be a good starting point for me. So what percentages did you end up using then, to restrict the current to 60amp cont. and 85amp peak? I will ha...

Nice! It's really good to see you're on the road and enjoying it. I will be in the midst of programming my exact same motor and controller in a few months and might need some of your help... Dare I ask you what total battery capacity you ended up with, and do you have an impression of what so...

Re: Demagnetized magnet for electronic throttle, help!

I would test it the way it is and see what happens. Soldering temperature is for sure hot enough to demagnetize them though. The orientation of the hall sensor matters. If you have a picture of the other half, we can be more certain about things. I will definitely get up a photo of that. Thanks a l...

Re: Demagnetized magnet for electronic throttle, help!

I was desoldering the cable from the brass piece that the magnet is glued to, so temp was well over 1800 degrees C... 1800 C  ...i highly doubt that temp, ...but if so, im surprised there is anything left ! Yeah, well... Did I mention it was silver soldered... So somewhere way above ...

I was desoldering the cable from the brass piece that the magnet is glued to, so temp was well over 1800 degrees C... And the magnet is completely dead by the "feels of it", but I can try and see if I can get some sort of response from the sensor anyway. The sensor was well out of the way when desol...

Thanks Fechter.. Just updated the thread with a picture.

Demagnetized magnet for electronic throttle, help!

So I bought this off of Ebay, https://www.ebay.com/itm/152139721746?ul_ref=https%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F0%252Fe11051.m43.l1123%252F7%253Feuid%253D2b8c9697e89f4c7f876819308338a0f0%2526bu%253D43547260732%2526loc%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fulk%25252Fitm%25252F15...

Re: 1970 Vespa 50s electrification project

Okey one picture, from some trial fitting yesterday. There was a set of screws which had their heads sticking out so much that I needed that green spacer between the brake bracket and the swingarm, but I drilled the through holes in the bracket so it would accept the same type of screws that hold th...

Re: 1970 Vespa 50s electrification project

I never found a more suitable BMS (sizewise) than the 150A version of the one I had, so I just went for that one. It's on its way now, which means I can finally continue on the battery box build. Apart from that, I have been working a little on the swingarm, making all the sheet metal parts for it. ...

In desperat need of a BMS, I will (bump) extend my topic to any suggestions on a 100 to 150A BMS's.

Please, if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

100-150A BMS that doesn't exceed 65mm width

Hi, I am quite restricted space wise on my battery pack, and for this reason plus aesthetic reasons I would like a BMS that fits within the width of my battery pack (which is the length of an 18650 cell + holders). My chemistry is of course Li-ion, it's 16s, and I would like somewhere between 100 an...

Re: 1970 Vespa 50s electrification project

I need help picking a new BMS.

I sent back the 80A version and finally got my money back. They have a 150A version available, but design wise it would be so nice to have one that is no larger than 65mm in one direction.
Advice is greatly appreciated!

Slowly making the swingarm on my own. Things are still so busy at work that I can't spare any time going to the workshop for personal projects, but I managed to squeeze in an hour today.
"Control room" is also taking shape.

Re: 1970 Vespa 50s electrification project

Looking good! Maybe consider using a bush on both sides of the axle that fits exactly inside of the rectangular box section of the swing arm. That way clamping/tightening the nuts won't cause the box section to deform. But maybe you were already planning that. Yes I am :) (good thinking) I will als...

Re: 1970 Vespa 50s electrification project

Swingarm design is done. I'm not sure if I will wait for the guys at the workshop to have time to do some machining for me, or if I will just send it all to a machine shop... I've generated 2D drawings for every single bit, so I could potentially just hand it over to someone and have it done by the ...
