Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Not all zip ties are created equal. My battery is hung from the top of the seat frame using very heavy nylon zip ties and no problems in 8 months of use. Stainless steel zip ties are also available. May install a couple of those as I have had zip ties fail after a couple of years exposure to UV.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

tomjasz, on the first page go about 2/3 down the list to: Dragonfly the Wild One
On the next page it will be the second entry. You have to click on date. Not completely logical, but that's the way the site works.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

RTIII, I added photos of the Wild One with TDSZ2 installed at mytripjournal.com/itchyfeet. It's the Dec 26 entry. Been trying to get the site software to work correctly for a week. Finally just referenced some of the photos instead of embedding them in the text. The battery mount method, and the add...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

RTIII: Wild One (named Dragonfly) photos are on my photo website: www.mytripjournal.com/itchyfeet . Bought it for my wife, after she test rode one. Unfortunately, during the 6 months from order to receipt she lost the capability to get out of the low seat but can ride my old Rover after I added assi...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

RTIII, LBS=Local Bike Shop. Thanks for the details on power levels. I was certain there had to be some Chinese "guesstimates" involved in the design of the electronics. I'm also sure there will be motor to motor variations as I would be surprised to find any precision electronic components, and a ch...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

erian, Why would you put an electric assist on a racing bike? A TDSZ2 system with a large battery could nearly double the weight. The bike would NEVER have racing bike characteristics again. In my view a hybrid type bike, with suspension, would be a better choice. The assist will compensate for the ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Have a 500 watt/48Volt TSDZ2 on a Steintrike Wild One - NuVinci hub on a 26" wheel. My battery is an 11.5 amp-52 Volt Panasonic from Luna which I charge to 80% giving me 55.57 Volts, using their charger. 4 levels of torque assist, which work very well for my riding. With all the "just in case" junk ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Waynemarlow postulated: "Perhaps the unit checks to see if there's a sensor inline on power up, if not it ignores it," If this is true then this would also bypass any controller checks to limit the speed of the trike. My 500W 15A TSDZ2 easily gets me to 20mph at level 3 boost but I'm also spinning o...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Interested in the power cut off when the wheel magnet is out of position. I don't have a sensor cable at all and my TSDZ2 works fine and never have had a power cut out. Is there some other signal, other than speed, that is talking to the controller when you have a sensor cable present? I bought a ca...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Timmy66, I have the XH 18 display/controller, 15A 500Watt motor, and a Panasonic 14 cell 52volt battery, which will only work at 55.6volts or below. I have pulled 14+ volts and 725 watts regularly. Don't remember ever seeing 15 amps. Don't know if my old engine was stronger higher watts could be pul...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor" 52V Battery

The 52V battery is a poor choice for the 15A version of the TDSZ2. Assuming the max charge for each cell to be 4.2V and the performance cliff voltage to be 3.35 a 13 cell 48V battery will have a fully charged voltage of 56.6. Full charge on my 52V battery is 58.8, BUT my 15A TDSZ2 will not start unt...

Checked and the pins are not bent. The cables are spliced in the center. Possibly I have a bad splice. Haven't h...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Motor is standard TSDZ2 48V 500W. XH18 controller. No throttle, only torque sensor. At levels 3 & 4 it seems to have dirty electronics. My wireless bike computer reading drops to 2 mph, or even zero, when I switch to those levels on a hill, so my distance measurement could be off. Even if I'm not fe...

Re: Running the latest 48v 500W TSDZ2 engine on 52volts ?

Bought a Luna 52v Panasonic battery for my 48v TDSZ2, charged to 100% and wouldn't work. Hooked to my George Forman grill and discharged to 54.0 v . Several hours later went to ride and my power analyzer read 55.73; apparently regained after load removed. Tried the motor with little hope and it work...

My 52V battery was fully charged to 58.73V and the motor refused to work. Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Waynemarlow has raised a critical issue with the 48V TSDZ2 motor. Does it have some sort of "protect mode" in the controller or motor to prevent operation above a set voltage? I have the same setup: 48v TSDZ2 motor from auto-ebike, 52V Panasonic bottle battery from Luna Cycles, and no assist. I had ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

mscoot, my walk mode performs just like yours. My trike is also heavy and stalls on a slight incline. I only used the walk mode to validate that power was getting to the motor, and that the motor responded to power. At any power setting the motor makes no noise. I have a NuVinci so can start out at ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I have been told that torque sensing is internal. The controller to motor, and speed sensor to motor cables and connectors came with the TSDZ2. They are HIGO and I have disconnected and reconnected - still no assist. I have adjusted the wheel size from 05 to 32 with no change. All settings on the co...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

LBS finished install on the Wild One this morning. HIGO extension cable for the speed sensor is on order. In the interim a magnet has been taped to the right crank arm and the sensor to the front DER post. Readings not accurate, but it's transmitting to the controller, and speed and distance is reco...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I believe the throttle is only available with the larger display, which has 3 USB ports. The XH18 controller has no port for a throttle, or at least I haven't found one on mine. The just announced TDSZ3 specifically says it is designed to require rider effort. Naturally it becomes available I'm havi...

My TSDZ2 kit connectors appear to be the Higo mini A variety, which have disappeared from Google's find capabilities. Mini B type seem to have replaced them. I don't know the difference.
